White House Organizes Prayer Vigil for Obamacare Outside Supreme Court

As the White House struggles to garner support for Obamacare as it approaches Supreme Court arguments on the new health care law, the administration is not leaving anything to chance — not even forces from heaven above.

Yes, on Wednesday, White House officials reportedly called on dozens of nonprofit leaders to aid them in organizing a prayer vigil outside the court – right when justices plan to hear arguments for three days beginning March 26.

In a push that hopes to shape public opinion on the issue at the very center of the battle for the White House and Congress, advocates and officials set their strategy to win favor in motion. White House officials, however, deny they are trying to influence others or garner support by facilitating rallies outside the Supreme Court.

The NY Times adds:

At the White House meeting on Wednesday, a wide range of advocates representing consumers and people with diseases and disabilities — as well as doctors and nurses, labor unions and religious organizations — discussed plans to bolster the landmark law, which is being challenged by 26 states as unconstitutional.

Supporters of the law plan to hold events outside the court on each day of oral argument. The events include speeches by people with medical problems who have benefited or could benefit from the law. In addition, supporters will arrange for radio hosts to interview health care advocates at a “radio row,” at the United Methodist Building on Capitol Hill.

People who attended the meeting on Wednesday said the speakers included Jennifer Palmieri, deputy communications director at the White House; Jon Carson, director of the president’s Office of Public Engagement; Jeanne M. Lambrew, deputy assistant to the president for health policy; and Mark B. Childress, a deputy chief of staff at the White House.

“The White House was very encouraging and supportive of our activities,” said Ronald F. Pollack, executive director of Families USA.

Pollack said the theme of the Supreme Court events would be, “Protect our health care, protect the law.”

Jennifer M. Ng’andu from the National Council of La Raza said White House officials stressed that the court case provided “a great opportunity to highlight benefits of the law for real people.”

A White House official who attended the session said that at least 100 people were present. According to the Times, more than 60 organizations sent representatives to the meeting.

    If Obamacare is so GREAT, why does Barry need to rally supporters and union to testify and pray outside the court? I pray that an act of God will strike down his unconstitutional Healthcare law. This would be the nail in his 2nd term coffin. No thank you, please go back to Detroit.

      Your supposed to pray in church and or in private so not as to appear as the hippocrites do going around, shredding their clothing, throwing ashes in the air to show how holy they are. This is nothing short of this hipocrisy that Jesus spoke of. He wants to show everyone how holy he is by holding a specific prayer outside for the public to witness. There is however a difference in a prayer vigil for someone who has fallen, in this regard we are talking about a piece of crap legislation that has blood written all over its pages.

      This man will do whatever it takes to get re-elected. Don’t follow this man again I beg you!

      A small, Christian group of students from Arizona stood on the steps of the Supreme Court building in Washington DC, joined hands and began saying a quiet prayer. A DC policeman approached the group and told them that they were not allowed to pray on the steps of the building. The leader of the Christian group then called the Supreme Court police and talked with a sergeant who asked if the group contained more than 3 persons and if they bowed their heads. When the group leader answered “Yes” to both questions, the sergeant then affirmed that their actions were, “definitely contrary to the law”

I guess it hasn‘t occurred to you that if you can’t pay for the health care you need, you WON’T be treated. I bet you will then act hypocritically by applying for the government run health care program called medicaid. If you people believe that god is such a help then fore go all health care and pray to god to heal you. What is truly wrong with you people??       Read “Animal Farm”. Interesting ploy, however. In WWII Stalin opened up the churches (the ones his Politburo did not destroy) and encouraged worship and faith to repel the Nazi invaders. There is even newsreel footage of the Russian people praying to God for the deliverance of Mother Russia. Of course, after the war was won, those churches once again became warehouses and government offices as before, and religion was, again, persecuted. The Soviet empire fell without a whimper in the last decade of the 20th Century. Don’t mock The Big Guy!

    Well, people need to rally back showing these people exactly what they will be losing with Obamacare and how it may end up costing them their own life because we just can’t afford it & how doctors aren’t going to be the decision making person on your well being. It will be a panel of lawmakers, not doctors who will decide if you need that treatment or not. They will ask themselves, Gee are you really worth spending more money on?
