Update: White House Says OBL Did NOT Use His Wife As Human Shield

The Blaze originally reported (see below) on a remark made by counterterrorism chief John Brennan that Osama bin Laden used his wife as a human shield during the raid on his compound. Turns out that that story was incorrect.

From Reuters:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A woman killed during the U.S. raid of Osama bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan was not his wife and was not used as a human shield by the al Qaeda leader before his death, a U.S. official said on Monday, correcting an earlier description.

John Brennan, President Barack Obama’s top counter- terrorism adviser, told reporters earlier that the slain woman had been one of bin Laden’s wives and had been used — perhaps voluntarily — as a shield during the firefight.

However, a different White House official said that account had turned out not to be the case. Bin Laden’s wife was injured but not killed in the assault.

Author’s note: Earlier today, Glenn’s producer Stu joked that many people were going to make the mistake of inserting “Obama” instead of “Osama” and vica versa while reporting on the story. Stu almost did it on radio. Mediaite has chronicled some of those flubs today. Well, folks, I’m guilty. The first headline of this story read “Obama Used His Wife As Human Shield.” We quickly recognized the mistake and changed it, but it was there. Stu was right.

    Guess he was too much of a coward to be a marter, (Sorry for the spelling), when you have many wifes guess you figure out that 72 of them would be worse than cowering in a cave for the rest of your life.     RE Osama Bin Laden. Significant push to take him out months ago. Senior WH staff resisted. This was cause of much strain between HC and Obama/Jarrett. HC and LP were in constant communication over matter – both attempted to convince administration to act. Administration feared failure and resulting negative impact on president. Intel disgusted over politics over national security. Staff resigned/left. Check timeline to corroborate.

    Now Intel already leaking to media facts surrounding how info obtained. Namely from enhanced interrogation efforts via GITMO prisoners. Obama administration placed in corner on this. Some media aware of danger to president RE this and attempting protection. Others looking for further investigation. We are pushing for them to follow through and already meeting with some access.

    Point of determination made FOR Obama not BY Obama. Will clarify as details become more clear. Very clear divide between Military and WH. Jarrett marginalized 100% on decision to take out OBL. She played no part. BD worked with LP and HC to form coalition to force CoC to engage.

    IMPORTANT SPECIFIC: When 48 hour go order issued, CoC was told, not requested. Administration scrambled to abort. That order was overruled. This order did not originate from CoC. Repeat – this order did not originate from CoC. He complied, but did not originate.

    Independent military contacts have confirmed. Stories corroborate one another. This is legit.

    The killing of Osama Bin Laden was in fact a Coup within Obama WH.

They would know that for her to do that she had to be told by her husband to be a human shield if there was a challenged to his safety.       John Brennan, President Barack Obama’s top counter- terrorism adviser, told reporters earlier that the slain woman had been one of bin Laden’s wives and had been used — perhaps voluntarily — as a shield during the firefight.

      Although I am not surprised that a Muslim would actually use a woman as a shield, it seems that the White House just can’t speak the truth.

      The perps who took over the planes on 9/11 all went to strip clubs, drank whiskey, etc. before their Big Day. So what’s the surprise about using women as shields? These people use the Koran as a suggestion box, not as faith or fact. When it suits the situation, change it!

      Earlier I posted, “Take my wife — please,” which, of course, is an old Henny Youngman joke. It was removed. Who knows why, I guess it offended someone. When Glenn hired that girl from the Huffington Post, he made a big mistake. What kind of boneheaded move was that? These people (i.e., Liberals) get off on exerting power over other people, most likely because they were ignored or abused when they were children. Give them even a tiny bit of power and they will abuse it, which is why they should NEVER be elected to public office or be in positions where they can censor other people. Brilliant move Glenn.

      Conservatives welcome free speech, we don’t stifle it, because we want idiots to expose themselves. We also have self-deprecating senses of humor, which is why we don’t get offended all of the time, and why we don’t hang around Liberals who pride themselves on being indignant and who can only laugh if they are denigrating someone else. Oh well, I never listen to Glenn anymore, and used to just check the Blaze occasionally, but now I won’t even do that, because this will be my last post. The Blaze – yet another good thing that has been ruined by Liberals. Nothing these turds touch comes out smelling like a rose.

      Here are some more classic Henny Youngman jokes about his wife… I hope they offend the girl who runs the Blaze and for those of you who have a sense of humor, I hope they make you smile.
