WASHINGTON (AP) — One of President Barack Obama’s chief advisers says the White House will figure out a way to get middle-class tax cuts extended after the election.
David Axelrod says the administration will continue to push the tax cuts despite stiff resistance from Republicans.
Axelrod tells ABC’s “This Week” that “one way or the other, we’re going to get it done.”
He says Republicans are holding firm to an “untenable position,” and they won‘t be able to explain to the public why they’re holding up the tax cuts for the middle class.
Republicans want to extend all of George W. Bush’s income tax cuts permanently. Democrats are proposing to keep the rates where they are for individuals making up to $200,000 and for families earning up to $250,000.

* Seems like it would have been a “no-brainer” for the Dems to Vote to extend, but they had to throw in the “wrench” of under $200,000/$250,000.
* Then they “claim” it‘s all the Repubs fault that they can’t get it done! Sounds familiar?
* Don’t expect a vote after Nov2 either. The parting gift from the Dems will be the expiration of the Bush Tax Cuts. Just another poke in the ___. BOHICA!

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 5:28pmIt’s okay to add to the deficit for Health Care boondoggle, for bailing out Auto companies, and on and on. But to allow, yes allow, people, all people, no matter what “class” they fall into, to KEEP their OWN money, now that’s wrong, misunderstood, the Republicans fault….. Blah, blah, blah. Taxes are the government’s way of stealing, theft of our own personal property. It would be very different if that money was going to infrastructure (oh yeah, remember that’s what that stimulus thingy was all about) or defense of our borders, etc. But instead we are growing government far beyond the realm. And the private sector continues to hurt and clamor for jobs. Government, all of you, just stay out of our way. We should keep our money – yes, all, not just the few. But then it would be more difficult to give that money to those who are the “takers” and not the “makers”.

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 7:53pmLove these Dems………..They say it is an absolute essential to dole out unemployment benefits (which I’m not against if they go to the right people, a naive statement in itself.)
But the reason I say that is the Dems always support the benefits argument with “it puts money in peoples pockets, thereby stimulating economy, because people will go buy stuff.”
But to CUT TAXES, and just leave money in people’s pockets to begin with…..No, citizens won’t spend that money…

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 5:25pmYep, I believe Obama because he NEVER lies. Did I tell you that I’m also giving up chocolate tomorrow?
This is Obama’s way of saying: “Vote for the Democrats and we’ll extend your taxes”. Bull! He is trying to divide the country in two by splitting the upper and middle class! He cannot afford to have the country united behind a common cause. Therefore, if you’re envious of the rich – SHAME ON YOU! We are one people and we must stick together in defense of the Constitution. EVERYONE who paid taxes should get to keep their tax rate the same. If they want to save money, stop giving money via the tax system to people who did not pay taxes (Earned Income Credit, Child Credit, etc.) You should never be able to get back more than you put it and everyone should have to pay a minimum amount. Everyone should have a stake in the game.

Don’t bother, go ahead and give all of us, those who pay taxes, an obamacide tax hike, lets cut to the picture that looks like Greece, if you cannot give them to all of the 53% who pay taxes, just keeep them all! Lets see how the 47% who pay nothing like what is going to happen then! No jobs, no money, sorry all of you in obamas bough sack, cannot pay your way anymore, go protest!

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 5:11pmThe Democrats make absolutely no sense what so ever. They say that Republicans are holding up the tax cuts. The Republicans can’t do anything until after November. The Republicans couldn’t stop them from passing the obamacare bill. So why is this so different. But now the Democrats can’t pass anything now? But they want to raise taxes on 70 to 80% percent of the AMERICAN PEOPLE. The millionaires and billionaires won’t feel it much. But all of the small businesses that do most of the hiring will. The Democrats want the Republicans to be in on this tax hike in order to blame them just like they do Bush for the deficit.

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 6:52pmObama wants to extend all tax cuts, except for those making more than $250,000. Why?
Despite what he SAYS about Wall St. and Corporations, they are in his corner just as much as they are anyone. His advisors are either ultra liberal Harvard/college professors or Wall St. CEO’s (Goldman Sachs) that had a hand in the crash.
Now, as those who are intelligent know, small businesses are individually owned, therefore individually taxed. By letting the $250,000 and up expire, he can put more of them out of business, thereby doing what his cronies wish him to do, empower corporations and unions.

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 5:54pmIt wont work…
It would lead to epic inflation… The reason is that in the manufacturing industry there is a “chain” of buying parts [component] and there is absolutely ZERO way the government can redundantly tax a “component” down the line. What you will end up with is products that are worth, say $125.00 for example but have been taxed down the line to the tune of $300.00 after the manufacturing process is complete.
I would expand more on the subject, but you’re talking hours to explain the flat-tax flaw(s) in detail.
It would actually work from a retail or income tax perspective, however you just cant tax items more than they are actually worth at retail value, as a matter of fact you cant tax a product anything close to retail.
There is a balance that needs to be kept.

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 4:40pmOh yeah, I know how that works..
Middle class get a tax-cut and the rich get taxed more, hence limiting their investments, hence killing more jobs…
Of course Obama knows the domino effect of his sadistic ideas…..
Does he really think the American populace is that dumb? his voting base may be but we aren’t.
Its not going to happen anyways because his progressive robots are going bye-bye in November.
This is just another example of progressives attempting to sell an idea that seems good on face-value but in reality its intended purpose is to HURT the people…

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 4:24pmWe all know what is going to happen. The dems have put off until after the election if they want to extend the Bush tax cuts. Then, when they lose a ton of democrats, they will come back as lame ducks and punish the electorate for electing republicans as a way to punish them. Why not? They are going to be gone in a few weeks, they have set themselves up for life at the expense of taxpayers.

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 4:19pmDon’t forget, that he WANTS the tax structure to expire. That way, he can put them back in place for the middle class and rebrand them as the Obama Tax Cuts for the middle class. On this Pledge To America,
Axelrod states, “…It would borrow $700 billion to cut taxes for the very wealthy….”
Black lie! Continuing those Bush tax rates is not a “cut” in taxes. This is maintaining status quo. There is no “borrowing” this is not “new tax” revenue coming in for Obama to spend.
Axelrod states, “We [Republicans] want to borrow another $700 billion….”
Axelrod tells his black lie a second time!
Axelrod states, “This is exactly how we got into the jam we were in before.”
He is claiming giving tax cuts to the wealthy is what caused our economic recession. This is another black lie by Axelrod. Hello! Wall Street had nothing to do with our economic mess, nor overspending by our federal government. Uh huh, Axelrod assumes us all to be gullible gits.
Dang, what a lying ignorant boy is this Axelrod, and he thinks Americans are so stupid as to believe his black lies!

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 3:41pmTwo things:
1) It is not a “tax cut.” No one is seeking to cut taxes come January 1.
It is a question whether the taxes rise to their pre-existing level due to the legislated expiration of the so called Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003. It is actually a tax increase that could / will happen. There is also the debate as to whom (by income levels) the changes should or should not apply to.
2) The Democrats, since they are in the majority, have the power (and should) put the matter up for vote in Congress before election. Then we will know who and how, Dems and/or Repubs, have voted.

If they don’t vote now they can “Claim” to be on the side of the very people that fund their campains then go back after the elections and vote any way they can justify, (not extend them for all), and that would most likely be “For the good of the country” and the same old “we know better” routine they have been pulling off for the past 2 years.

It was only because of the elections , that they wanted to pass cuts for all , not because it was the right thing to do.. They obviously going to attempt to pass this in the lame duck session , against all the Republicans , 26 or more Democrats and the People. The lame duck session voting should be banned , that vote does not give all the elected candidates a chance to vote , therefor it must be unconstitutional.
