White House Weighs In On Augusta’s Men-Only Policy: ‘Women Should be Admitted’

Yesterday we reported on the bubbling controversy coming from The Masters golf tournament. Namely, the question about Augusta National’s men-only membership policy.

During today’s White House Press Conference, Secretary Jay Carney was asked where Mr. Obama stood on the topic:

“Well the president’s answer to this question is, ‘Yes,” Press Secretary Jay Carney said. “His personal opinion is women should be admitted.”

While the President is reported to have told Jay Carney that Augusta National should invite women to join their club, he has not exactly welcomed women to join him on the golf course during his regular rounds. In October of 2009, the New York Times quoted CBS News’ Mark Knoller who noticed a surprising statistic about Mr. Obama’s regular golf partners;

“the president has played 23 rounds of golf since taking office, none of which have included women…”

Needless to say, after that story appeared, more women were spotted in the President’s foursomes.

We encourage the President (and Mr. Carney) to take the Blaze poll on this obviously vital topic.

      I think ugly, fat and too skinny people should be allowed to run for Ms. Universe, too. They should be all graded on a curve. People who have disfigurements should sue. Lets just find a lawyer for every occasion and sue the hell out of everyone for everything and just divide this country all to hell and back again. This bunch of looney toons running the government must all be on something that is making them stupid as stupid gets.

      And, in case you missed it, Donald Trump has allowed transsexuals into the Miss (what ever it is) contest.

      I love being a woman. I don’t want to be a man. I can do lots of things. Men can do lots of things. There are times I do not want any men around. There are times I don’t want any kids around. People are silly if they think ONE SIZE FITS ALL on EVERYTHING. Again this is a war against INDIVIDUALISM.
      PRIVATE CLUBS need to be left alone. Women have played there, they are guests of the members. We make a huge mistake by getting involved in every one else’s affairs. Let them have their club. Stop messing with everything, Obama…you can’t even control yourself…much less AUGUSTA !! PS ROMNEY agreed that women should play there. Bet that shocked the WH..looking for another issue.

      After reading the comments I think I have to disagree with a good number of the posts. During a press conference a question was asked and a direct response was given. The opinion of President Obama is that Augusta should include female members. That is his opinion and he is entitled to it. The one major factor of the answer that is being overlooked is the “but” statement. The Secretary goes on to state that while President Obama things females should be included it is up to the club to make that decision. This is a recognition that it is the clubs right to make that decision and there is nothing the government can do to force them to change that decision.

      This is obama being THE GREAT DIVIDER !
      What a shame. He had a unique place in history which he could have used to UNITE AMERICA and move us into a truly post-racial era of brotherly love. Instead, he has sought to stir up non-existent animosity and to create hatred and divisiveness. He has set us back THIRTY YEARS in race relations.

      B.O. is into recycling in a BIG way. Does anyone remember the loud, obnoxious flap that happened a few years ago over this? I can‘t remember the woman’s name, but she whined and moaned and b*tched about this for months. It’s a private club. Get over it.

      What is happening here is that the government is forcing businesses to accommodate everyone. A gay couple deliberately chooses a photographer or caterer or wedding cake baker who they know does not approve of the gay lifestyle and they target that business by claiming discrimination. It happens over and over and over again. This is just more of the same.

      Yeah a liberal reporters question who can’t ask something important like, what does the president think will bring gas prices down to the level when he took office 3 years ago? $1.84 a gallon!

      Or how about, what does the president think will bring unemployment down to the level of when he took office? Under 7%!

      The reason a liberal reporter asked the question about Augusta National is because he knows that is the type of question Obama could answer even if that answer is wrong!
