‘White Supremacist’ Principal Fired by NY Archdiocese Over Views on Race

The media have been buzzing about a Catholic elementary school principal who was recently dismissed amid charges that he holds racist views and has connections to a white supremacist publication. The Archdiocese of New York has fired Frank Borzellieri, who ironically presided over a school of a mostly black and Hispanic children. Below, watch a WNYW-TV report about this story:

According to archdiocese spokesman Joseph Zwilling, school officials reviewed Borzellieri‘s books and columns and found that he espoused white supremacist views that were at odds with the church’s mission and values. The former principal was let go following a New York Daily News article that highlighted some of Borzellieri’s controversial views, including his alleged ties to a white supremacist publication. Over the weekend, the Daily News reported:

Frank Borzellieri, 48, was quietly promoted to principal of Our Lady of Mount Carmel School two years ago – despite a history of controversial writings and campaigns, including a push to ban a biography on the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

In 2004, Borzellieri wrote the book “Don’t Take It Personally: Race, Immigration, Crime and Other Heresies,“ in which he declares ”diversity is a weakness” and says the rising black and Hispanic populations in America will lead to the “New Dark Age.”

The Daily News goes on to write that Borzellieri is actively involved in “American Renaissance,” a publication that is described as “a monthly magazine dealing with race and racial issues here and abroad.” This monthly publication is disseminated by the New Century Foundation, which claims it was created “to study immigration and race relations so as to better understand the consequences of America’s increasing diversity.”

Interestingly, the Daily News claims that Rev. Eric Rapaglia, the pastor of Mount Carmel, said that he knew about Borzellieri’s controversial views, but that he originally had no cause for concern in hiring him to run the school. The newspaper printed the priest’s comments, word-for-word, as follows:

“I knew of him from my last parish. Do I agree with all of it? No. But I think much of it is valuable and logical and reasonable. A lot of his ideas would actually benefit minorities.”

In a lengthy statement posted on the school’s website, Father Rapaglia, while seemingly contradicting the comments that were made in the Daily News piece, apologized for what he called a “mistake in judgment.” He claimed that neither he nor a search committee of parents and teachers knew about Borzellieri’s political writings when they hired him. Rapaglia’s comments about knowing Borzellieri before hiring him are as intriguing as his conclusion: ”In hindsight, I should not have hired Mr. Borzellieri.”

In fairness to the pastor, he has publicly taken issue with some of the quotes attributed to him in the Daily News. He claims that his words were taken out of context and that he was talking about Borzellieri’s writings on topics other than race.

This isn’t the first time Borzellieri has made headlines. He ran for the state assembly in 1994 and for City Council in 1997, though he inevitably lost both of these races. But, he did serve as a school board member in Queens’ District 24 from 1993 until 2002. According to the Daily News, he undertook a number of questionable initiatives.

Aside from attempting to ban “anti-American” literature from school libraries (which included books on race and culture and a biography on Martin Luther King), he allegedly tried to remove an openly gay teacher and gay rights activist. Additionally, he attempted to ban school employees from making references to homosexuality, while introducing a resolution that called for students to be taught that U.S. culture is superior to others. According to The Huffington Post, in his 2004 book, “The Unspoken Truth: Race, Culture and Other Taboos,” Borzellieri wrote:

Blacks commit most of the violent crime in America today. This has always been the case. They are ten times as likely to commit a crime of violence as whites…So what these numbers actually reveal in addition to the obvious–that blacks are inveterately more violent than whites–is that there is actually more black on white crime than black on black crime.

In another section of the book, he continued:

On average, blacks score lower on every conceivable aptitude test than whites and Asians…These results have not changed despite decades of heroic efforts to uplift blacks to [sic] and to tinker with the tests.

But rather than acknowledge what every (yes, every) study and informed scientist has put forth, the government’s official position is that blacks fall short because of white wickedness. Oppression and discrimination by whites are responsible, not inherent shortcomings. (Asians, who outperform whites, have a significant history of discrimination in America, but that’s an inconvenient fact.)

Borzellieri and his book publisher, Cultural Studies Press, didn’t respond to multiple requests for comment earlier this week. Reached by phone, a woman who said she was Borzellieri’s mother also declined to comment. The school hopes to have a new principal in place soon.

      Frank is not racist. The statements made in his writings are known facts, easily verifiable. Facts cannot be raciest. Facts have only one attribute and that is that they are true. There are no happy facts, sad facts, white facts, black facts. Any attribute other than truth assigned to a fact is relative to the observer. Franks’ real sin is that he speaks the truth about topics forbidden by the fascist left.

      @pfrancis1965 Mr. Borzellieri makes a good point. How do you teach the history of controversial figures to very young students? The problem I have with him is that he has a premise and an outrageous conclusion. Blacks would need another 1000 years to match the carnage left behind by White and Asians in WWI, WW2, Cultural Revolution, StalinCamps, etc. I don’t conclude that Whites are Fascist thugs because they fall prey to their own governments.

    “Hate has consequences?” What is hateful about saying that Columbus should be celebrated (as he always has been) and that Martin Luther King was a communist deviant whose file is still sealed by the FBI because its contents are too controversial?

    What is hateful about saying that some genetic clusters have different traits than others? That is the TRUTH. The multiculturalists have started with the answer “we are all equal at everything” and must then work backward to try to prove this, which does not work. There was never any evidence that all people are equal in all ways. What is hateful about me, as a caucasian, saying that some groups of Asians have higher intelligence than myself or my own European ancestors? I don’t hate myself. I like myself; and I like Asians. There is nothing hateful about saying they are as a group smarter than caucasians as a group, although I, myself, may be moree or less intelligent than any given Asian person. It is the same with blacks and all other groups. It is not hateful to be proud of your own European legacy and want to further that particular culture. Anything other than that is self-loathing suicide.

      You know, I may have to agree with you pertaining to blacks and our genetics. I think we have found the answer as to why we as black men on average have bigger penises per capita than any other race on the planet, save for some Arabic races. With 9″+, at least I can include myself in the conversation, and I can live with that facet alone as it‘ll bring upon me some consolation about the rest of my ’genetic shortcomings’, including my apparent inferior intelligence.

      I agree also. Facts are facts. God made us all different and to ignore that is to ignore the real truth. Columbus demanded goods or he cut their hands off? Really? I have NEVER heard that one before. When did they change the history books to demonize Columbus? I guess they think that it is okay to demonize Columbus because he was white? I thought he was Spanish. The way they keep changing history, hard to know what is “acceptable”. I don‘t really care what’s “acceptable”…just give me the truth please and we should all be big enough to handle that. I wish Mr. Borzellieri luck. He should have a right to believe whatever he wishes. A lot of men have died so we could have that right. Let’s not forget that.

    While I am horrified by the conspicuous black on black crime, I do not think a person is or SHOULD be defined by the color of their skin. There have been many studies that show opposite things. I do believe that where a person is raised has more to do with their behavior than most other things. I disagree completely with racism. Our Lord died for EVERYONE, black, white, purple or any other color. I also believe that the reason for the low scores on tests are because the people who are supposed to be teaching them are overwhelmed by having to teach nonsense and not allowed to discipline their students. Racism is wrong, wrong, wrong and there is nothing you can do to justify judging a person on the basis of their skin color.

    It’s not because he was proud to be white. You can be proud to be anything in your ancestry without spreading lies about another ethnicity or hating them just because of it. Now, the mainstream blacks (Al and Jesse) would have the rank and file blacks believing that they can be the only ones to be proud of their race.

    It’s not a black and white issue….it’s income level. Low income whites are just as likely to commit horrible crimes as low income blacks. I’d like to see a study on economic status instead of race. I know lots of black people who are not racist and are not violent.

      My sentiments exactly!!! We are living in a new age of technology, where racial injustice can be broadcast to and from anywhere in the country(or the world) in a matter of nanoseconds, so racists pigs can’t have, they have to stand up and be accountable for their words. But it questions me as to the number of blacks from slavery up until the sixties who were murdered, raped, tortured, kidnapped, etc. without so much of a newspaper article mention, so we as blacks have the right to keep on the lookout for whenever some white guy gets out of line with the n-word. And yes, we have taken custody of the word, replaced the ‘er’ with the ‘a’, and reassigned it as a term of endearment for one another.

      As far as our ancestral past is concerned, I’ll let bygones be bygones if you will. But I can‘t say with an honest face that I’m not conforted by the fact that my ancestors was whooping and stomping your ancestor’s asses in the afterlife judgement line, before they were departed for their respectful destinations.

      I know lots of black colleges, college graduates, black business owners etc…As for education, I hated school history because all they teach you is about Europeans. And they say black folks were just slaves…That did’t make me look forward to class. They could at least teach about Nubia,Kush,Kemet(Egypt). That would interest more black kids in their real history. Black Muslims had to teach Europeans what “sanitary” was during the Dark ages because their street were full of human waste and their bodies were so dirty and flea-ridden.

    Fascinating! I found it interesting that the video was presented by the One Peoples Project with their slogan that “Hate has consequences”. I don’t agree with any hate based on anything; but what consequences will there be for the ideology sold by many that white people, such as the TEA Party folks, are racist by their very nature & DNA?
    If this were true there certainly would not have been 350,000 plus white Americans giving their lives on Civil War battlefields to end slavery. Not to mention all the many thousands more whites who worked hard for the same cause. Where else on Earth has this kind of sacrifice taken place?

    Before I listen to all the black racial hate mongers chastise this guy I want a credible explanation for their hatred of all the non-blacks & non-browns who have done far more for them than they have done for themselves!

    Americans fought to free themselves first & everyone else since!

      Rather than viewing all students equally, they should be viewed correctly and justly as their achievements dictate. If a student is dumber than a box or rocks he should not be told that he is a genius who can one day be president (oh wait that is possible) but rather that he should be encouraged to pursue some manual labor job that he could be proud of and make a living doing. Very much damage is done by pretending that all students are absolutely equal, it hurts not only the less intelligent who get frustrated but the actual intelligent students who have to put up with the distractions from the laggards.

      The Catholic church was also one of the first and only to reach out to Aids patients, so all of the gay Catholic church haters, go do some research and see who your unbiased real friends are, while the church can’t condone your lifestyle, it still respects and put itself at risk to reach out to fellow humans

      Dudley, looking at the scope of history, clearly the Catholic Church has been the greater aggressor compared to the Protestants. The Protestants escaped to America. That some were leery of Catholics given the history is perhaps understandable. But in any case the Protestants made it work in America. There are still Catholics who think that their church is the only valid one. In the modern era, Protestant churches are failing due to extreme crazed liberalism, and the problems of the Catholic church are well known. Hopefully the Christian churches in the West will get right and join together to save the West from Islamization before it is too late.
