‘Whitopias’: Another National Review Contributor Fired Over Racial Comments

Hot on the heels of John Derbyshire’s dismissal from National Review over a racially-charged article, the magazine has fired another contributor over the same issue.  This time, it’s University of Illinois professor emeritus Robert Weissberg.

It appears the Professor spoke at a conference for the “American Renaissance” magazine in March, where he discussed “viable alternatives” to white nationalism, like “whitopias.”

The American Renaissance website described his speech:

He pointed out that there are still many “Whitopias” in America and that there are many ways to keep them white, such as zoning that requires large houses, and a cultural ambiance or classical music and refined demeanor that repels undesirables. This approach to maintaining whiteness has the advantage that people can make a living catering to whites in their enclaves.

Prof. Weissberg went on to argue that liberals are beyond reason when it comes to race, that explaining the facts of IQ or the necessity of racial consciousness for whites “is like trying to explain to an eight-year-old why sex is more fun than chocolate ice cream.” [Emphasis added]

But it appears this wasn‘t Weissberg’s first time attending the inflammatory conference.  A YouTube clip shows the professor presenting there in 2000, discussing the “relationship” between Jews and blacks and using the n-word to describe what another word doesn’t mean (WARNING: Extremely offensive language):

National Review’s editor Rich Lowry explained:

Unbeknowst to us, occasional Phi Beta Cons contributor Robert Weissberg (whose book was published a few years ago by Transaction) participated in an American Renaissance conference where he delivered a noxious talk about the future of white nationalism…He will no longer be posting here. Thanks to those who brought it to our attention.

    Who reads the National Review anyway, besides those with the inside-the-beltway mindset? Most of what NatRev offers has nothing whatsover to do with the majority of Americans’ daily lives.

      Yep. After signing up for the newsletter, I found the articles were full of Republican Progressivism and cancelled.

      It’s funny that there are so many racists that troll the boards on The Blaze. Racists are typically Progressive in their mindset, too. Always out to force their belief system on others. Quick to detail how other people should live their lives.

      All the great Progressives were openly racist. Look at Margaret Sanger.

      If you weren‘t so backward you’d realize that almost every forum on the net now has far worse comments regarding race than the Blaze. Take a trip throughout the internet and see how many white people are fighting back over unjust handling and reporting of racial issues.

      By running your mouth as you do you do more to create anger and a desire for racial conflict than all the so-called “racist” you struggle constantly to identify.

      I understand that blacks have attacked whites. I think there are probably several cases of hispanics attacking caucasians. I bet if you tried, you could find instances of whites attacking blacks.

      There are whites living in ghettos. The same is true for any “group”. So what?

If Asians, ME‘s and Hispanics didn’t create retail outlets in black neighborhoods there would be none.

      Or are you referring to something like the anger that causes blacks to think that Devil’s Food Cake is racist, because Angel Food Cake is white? Or how about declaring that a black hole in space shouldn’t be referred to because it is a racist term?

      Whitopias make sense. Too not live in a whitopia is insane. I take it you are insane.

      You don’t have to zone anything. Whites just naturally know (like everyone else) for the most part what is in their best interest. Where I lived when we moved we based our decision on schools, crime & property taxes. This meant that essentially we (along with others) were segregating the metropolitan area by making *personal* choices.

      After the Rodney King Riots & the continued racism stoked by the left (Jackson, Sharpton, Farahkhan, Rev Wright, Eric Holder, Baruch Obama, Leonard Jeffries, Cornell West & many others), I make it a point to stay segregated at the neighborhood level. I can’t say honestly that the Watts riots were in the 60s & that is over. I have to expect that anytime a black activists whips up a crowd there will be another Reginald Denny. I would like to live in the city for the short commute to work. Heck a person could walk a mile or two to work. I use to run 5 miles into work & take the bus home earlier in life. But where I live the school district for the major city must be a black female who will be replaced by another black female. Regardless of racial politics the kids will drop out of said district. People in this city also kill mothers & their daughter to gain 5 dollars. Last summer they were targeting the police.

      There two streets where the post office refuses to deliver mail because large groups of people literally hanging out on the porch harass the mailman. On the north side not far from the city center. A white 7 year old boy was strangled by his black friend who was 3 or 4 years older. No reason was ever given. I bet is is racism that the black kid learned at home.

      Let’s put it this way a neighborhood could be greater than 50% Hispanic or Asian & the rest white & it would still be a whitopia. Now where is the problem?

      It never surprises me when Leftists cozy up to foreign royalty. I think many Leftists pine for a feudal society. Many assume they’d be among the dukes and ducheses, if not the kings and queens. They all assume they’d never be the serfs, until their dream is realized and reality comes crashing down.

      Concepts of science aren’t the basis for their philosophy, but tools to support it. Science can be used to experiment and prove out reality, right? So, if we can just come up with the right experiment on a grand scale, we can plan out the perfect society.

      The problem is, most Leftists aren’t scientists. They don’t understand that the power of an experiement comes from eliminating all variables but one. When you look at society, you’re looking at nothing but variables. Every human being is a walking set of variables. No one person, or group of people can plan for that without crushing human freedom.

In fact the entire black population, with a few rare exceptions, are literally steeped in……. not only racism…….. but abject hatred,mostly of whites, but there’s hundreds of examples of them projecting their racism and hatred to anybody non-black. They’re engaged right this minute in racial conflict with Hispanics in California, as well as Asians sporadically around the country.

      And there are other racists like you, for instance who deny any kind of bias, because you view the denouncement of racism as a ploy to hopefully aid in what you really want. But worse than that, you’re a despicable hater of conservatives and Christians. Proof of that is the time you spend on this site even though your influence is nil.

      Every multicultural country in the history of mankind has failed miserably, most of them erupting into internecine warefare.

    None if I can help it. Overall, I don’t like what I am seeing out of them. They speak, I speak. They ask for help if they are old or infirmed I render it. If they want to be friendly, I will. I do not trust any of them that I do not know. I do like Alan West, Herman Cain and David James Manning because they have sense. There are some who are speaking the truth and we will see where that goes. Outside of that, I do not have anything to do with people I do not like. If they give me reason to like them, I will, but I will not incorporate my life into theirs to any degree. I do not trust them.

      As a conservative this defense is getting pretty embarrassing. We have free speech. No one is going to arrest you for being a racist. But you can still be fired from the company that employs you if they feel what you’ve written reflects poorly on them (it does).

      Ya wanna know something that is messed up? While I‘m pretty sure that the vast majority of The Blaze’s staff are not racist (are anti-racism) I’ve had my attempt at posting an individual comment response to this article blocked. I referred to racist *insult* seemingly taking over the comments section here and it was blocked. My insult word was *bags of the stuff that lines a bucket of dirty wash water that has sat too long*… sc*mb@gs. I don’t know if it was the insult word or the context, but I find it curious that the n-word and other far more blatantly vile things are being said by others, yet my comment is continuously blocked.

      It seems that some of the Blaze staff members (I’m fully aware that not all of them are racist) just have little or no tolerance towards speech condemning racism or stating facts without using bias towards any race. A while earlier on another article, I came close to seeing my statement erased. Yes, The Blaze is clearly exercising an outrageous double-standard allowing racial slurs such as the N-word to go uncensored and yet wipe out comments that hold racism in contempt, in which I would find that to be really sad and disgraceful.

      Oh, they censor all sorts of things that don’t make sense. Every time I try to post something on the different theories regarding how to interpret the Constitution it’s not posted. I don‘t know if it’s so much intentional or just a bad filter. lol, you even get asteriks if you type the scientific name for humans.

      I’ve experienced that same predicament on another article not too long ago. After I’ve posted my statement that mentioned the Constitution, when I clicked the Post button and refreshed the page, it didn’t show. I tried reposting my comment and refreshed the page several times and even then it still didn’t show. Maybe it was The Blaze’s bad filtering system that prevented my comment from appearing there…or someone at the Blaze staff just doesn’t seem to like the Constitution all that well. It seems to me that free speech here at The Blaze isn’t as well-cherished as I thought it would’ve been.

      I’ve had similar things happen. The biggest frustration for me is when I write a comment and try to post it and I’m told I have to log in to post comments…but I’m already logged in!

      I don‘t think it’s intentional. Just poor programming. Sure would love if they would update the comments section though.

    Many black people want to play African and act like they belong to some tribe or clan who would just as soon kill them as not because they are American. Especially if they are Christian Americans. They can go on ahead and make fools of themselves and see where it gets them in the long run. Then when they turn to white people you have alienated for years to help you out, we will not be there because we cannot trust you. This game playing is causing people to dislike, distrust and completely shut you out of their hearts because you are giving your strength to a pack of communist organizers and we really do despise the Communist philosophies with their offshoots and thugs. How many black leaders do you see in Russia or China?

      I do know, and it is a fact, a little girl, who did live in Ashboro, NC aged at the time 12 or 13 who is black as black can be with two black parents who truly believes she is white. Her parents even told me this. I thought they were kidding. She cannot see her own color. She has crushes only on white people on TV and says I would never date black people. She mentions any white girl she sees with a black guy and says why would she date a black boy? Something that I have never come across before. I just thought that was interesting because it is something very unusual to me. I guess it happens. Her mother and father both have tried to talk to her and explain she is black, but she will not accept that, and thinks they are strange. She may not see their color. I do not know and did not know her or her well enough to ask her. They were neighbors and we got along. That is all it should be. We were there if one or the other needed something, but there were never impositions or demands. We all knew (except the little girl) our families were different colors and our friends would be mostly, if not all the same color as we were. I like them. Had no problem with them.

      blackyb, interesting case, that girl. It reminded me of something.

      I have a friend, he’s from Nigeria, and he is so black that at some lighting conditions his skin has a bluish hue. The interesting thing is that I don’t perceive a color, until he mentions it in some context.

      We’ve met in a business context (he, a customer) but we started chatting and I realized that our interests were roughly in the same mold. We’ve been close friends ever since.

      I sometimes make a fun of him, calling him a “racist”, because if you heard him speak about American blacks and did not know his origin (say an audio recording), you’d think he must be one. He just can’t stand them, their “culture”, their behavioral patterns, the whole shebang. He can just rant and rant on that topic and I have to nip it in the bud or it would be hours long litany. It’s not that he is unreasonable, or bigoted. He can engage in a logical argument and buttress it by data and stats (he’s got an excellent memory and upon checking his sources, I’ve never caught him wrong) and I have nothing to refute him except using most general notions.

      For some time, we avoid that topic, because he accepted the fact that there’s nothing he can do to change it and thus there is really no point, except getting us both frustrated.

      I served with a Black man from Sierra Leone He feels exactly the way your friend does. He hung out with the whites in my unit and was heckled daily for it by the guys with the gold teeth ( They get them glued on so they cant be forced to remove them) His friends and family all have the same thoughts about “American Blacks” He was far more an American than most whites I have come across in the City. Another two guys I served with were from Barbados, also Black. They all told me that Blacks the world over, can’t stand “American Blacks”. They said it starts with the culture as children then grows into just plain ignorance because once they are adults most continue to act out against others using the culture they are brought up in as an excuse to relieve themselves of personal responsibility and just plain descent behavior. They believe that once these kids become adults and continue to act in this manner then it is a personal choice they have made and know fully what they are doing and should always be held accountable.

      TheReasonableLib, the melting pot has been put on hold by multi-culti. Even it’s ideological father (a Dutch guy, I don’t recall his name), admitted two years ago that it has been an abyssmal failure and a mistake. For some reason, that did not filtered to the New World yet.

      He pointed out that the multi-culti degraded the levels of public trust as tribal organizational patterns emerged, which was something he did not imagine would happen when he formulated his concept.

      As you can plainly see, it’s the unreasonable liberals that fan the racial division, to use as their political tool. It does not bode well for anyone.

    I realize that the whites systematically deprive the blacks, individually and collectively on a routine basis. The answer to the problem may be a blackopias reservation that would be enclosed and protected from the white financial and justice systems. The black oriented financial service industry could be properly protected. Prominent black leaders such s Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton or Rev. White could be recruited to the shared experience on a daily and personal level. In some cases, either cities could be so designated. Certainly South Chicago, Detroit, or even Baltimore would be highly placed as black cultural freedom is already highly advanced it those cities.

    A nation of white people is a good thing. It is a good dream. No more worrying about what schools your children are going to go to sense they all will be white. No more worrying about having to move and buy another house when your neighborhood begins filling up with black thugs because it will be all white. Crime would be down to almost nothing. Drug use could be controlled. No more voting fraud. No more laws that are unfair towards whites. A nation that could strive to become what it once was meant to be. Just dreaming…for now.
