Who Does Clint Eastwood Like in the 2012 Race?: ‘I Love Cain’s Story’

Who Does Clint Eastwood Like in the 2012 Race?: I Love Cains Story

Hollywood icon Clint Eastwood has played a cowboy in the past, but as a director, and public figure seems to toe the line of both the left and right. In a recent profile for the Los Angeles Times promoting the upcoming release of his new film, “J. Edgar,” Eastwood discussed some of his opinions on politics:

“When I quizzed Eastwood, he couldn’t remember ever voting for a Democrat for president — including in the last election, where he supported John McCain. But when he condemned anti-gay marriage fanatics in a recent, profanity-studded GQ interview (“Don’t give me that sanctity crap! Just give everybody the chance to have the life they want”), my liberal friends shared the excerpts on Facebook with pretty much the same delight as 12-year-old girls passing around Justin Bieber videos.

When it comes to his films’ depiction of sensitive issues, Eastwood has carried off an astounding balancing act. Look at his back-to-back movies about World War II: The first, “Flags of Our Fathers,” was openly admiring of American exceptionalism; the next, “Letters From Iwo Jima,” venerated the courage and sacrifices made by Japanese soldiers in one of the war’s bloodiest battles.”

Eastwood’s upcoming biopic on the inaugural and controversial FBI director, is said to remain ambiguous on Hoover’s personal life and possible closeted homosexuality. Eastwood tells the Times that he finds himself fiscally conservative, socially liberal, and in support of environmental protections. Eastwood says he was opposed to the 2008 stimulus:

“But I’m a big hawk on cutting the deficit. I was against the stimulus thing too. We shouldn’t be bailing out the banks and car companies. If a CEO can’t figure out how to make his company profitable, then he shouldn’t be the CEO.”

Eastwood claims to have voted GOP in every presidential election aside from 1992, when he voted for Ross Perot. Of the current GOP field, Eastwood says he likes Herman Cain best. “I love Cain’s story,” Eastwood told the Times. “He’s a guy who came from nowhere and did well, obviously against heavy odds. He’s a doer and a straight-talker, which I don’t see enough of from either party.”

Eastwood was Mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, for one term from 1986 to 1988. Eastwood contributed $2300 to John McCain in 2008.

“socially liberal, and in support of environmental protections.”-Eastwood

Both of these ideals can go too far,and do,IMO.But hey,its Clint Eastwood!A mans man,you can take that to the bank! Not only has this man provided many untold hours of movie entertainment for millions of us,he’s the great person in real life that he has portrayed in many of them.If there is such a thing as self portraits on film,as an actor and a director,Clint Eastwood surely qualifies.

His comments on Herman Cain,”“I love Cain’s story,” Eastwood told the Times. “He’s a guy who came from nowhere and did well, obviously against heavy odds. He’s a doer and a straight-talker,..” Kinda reminds me of Eastwood and his early westerns with Sergio Leone directing and of course the later ones he produced and directed himself. The Man with No Name who comes from nowhere to save the day and make things right.Even with all the violence and bloodshed, you always knew he had a good heart and did the right thing in the end.

“Respect your efforts, respect yourself. Self-respect leads to self-discipline. When you have both firmly under your belt, that’s real power.”
    Clint Eastwood
    Great words of advice.

      @LORIANN12,
Well,JFK was loved by many Americans back then(and now) and would be considered a conservative/republican by today’s standards. He was a great American President .
So far as abortion is concerned, its pure killing,in my opinion. All the laws in the World won’t stop it though.I‘m torn between a woman going to a back alley doctor or a registered ’clean’ clinic.Abortions are going to happen, rich, poor,or otherwise.
Take away the religious and moral aspects though,it’d be a terrible World. No one would care about life anymore.Pure chaos and evil.Maybe that’s what hell is?

Interesting how theBlaze missed the second biggest portion of the article they referenced. Something that was on americanparchment.com was this portion:

Romney was running for governor there. “I saw a lot of him and you have to admit — he looks like a president”

Seems like the conservative and liberal media are ganging up against Romney.

“Take away the religious and moral aspects though,it’d be a terrible World. No one would care about life anymore.Pure chaos and evil.Maybe that’s what hell is?”

Why would it be a terrible world? Why would self interest – the kind the motivates cooperation and kindness – disappear in the absense of mystism? I don’t believe in an afterlife and it compells me to make the most of what I have,

Believe whatever you want, but look around and you‘ll find it’s not athiests who commit acts of suicide bombing or murder of idealogically opposing people [though it would be interesting to know the religious demographics of those who have abortion - I really don't know what that would yield ]. And consider that Hitler, Stalin, Mao, etc were not, strictly speaking, atheists. They all embraced some form of mysticism. And consider that it was on the battlefield that emporer constantine converted to Christianity. There‘s no guarantee that without religion you’d get a utopia, but we definitely don’t have one now with it.

Altruism is the source of evil and chaos, not rational thinking.

Cain SUPPORTED TARP, and he STILL doesn’t know that artificial credit expansion causes false economic booms followed by busts, or that the central planning of the money supply by the Fed is the current source of the credit expansions that are destroying our economy and allowing government to get bigger at the taxpayers’ expense.

@Infedileble, Socialism/communism is most definitely an atheist phenomenon. They all want to kill Judeo/Christian values as swiftly as possible. The human body is wired to be spiritual, in that sense they can’t completely eradicate the soul, so they seek to replace it with some pagan beliefs that are nothing more then man believing their interests are the only thing that matters. In your world there is nothing stopping the powerful from inflicting their interests on you, besides whatever force you might bring to bear. Morality determines what society ought to do, and there is nothing rational or scientific about the word ought. It is simply a sense people have of the morality that underpins this world, placed their by its creator, and enunciated by our founders. It is a prerequisite for a civil society. There is nothing in your world to say whose self interest matters more, whose are justified and whose are evil. Without this, I hope you can see what the end result of an atheist world would be. Complete and utter chaos, survival of the fittest in the true sense of the word. Even if you use the principle, don‘t do anything that interferes with another man’s self interest, the conflicts will be inevitable, and the resolutions bloody, and at the end of the day, no one would be able to determine who was in the right, or wrong.

I am a white, my family has been here since the 1700s and my son is the first college grad in our family. These blacks never had it so good. They could have gone back to Africa after the civl war. God why didn’t they? We would have 75% less crime, no Cain, and no affirmative action. What a mewling mess this country has become.
