Who Does Gingrich Think Romney Should Pick as VP?

Asked on Friday who he’d prefer to see as Mitt Romney’s running mate, three-time Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich offered an entire roster of would-be veep choices.

“Well, I think the people who would do the best job is somebody like either Sen. Rob Portman, Sen. Marco Rubio, Sen. Kelly Ayotte, Gov. Bob McDonnell of Virginia, maybe Gov. Bobby Jindal,” he responded.
“There are five or six people who each has the ability to be a good president and each of whom will help win the election and each of whom will broadly share the values that the Republican Party believes in,” he added.
Watch the discussion via CNBC:
Gingrich, the former speaker of the House who abandoned his bid for the Republican nomination in May, touched on a broad spectrum of topics, including the presidential candidates’ messaging, the state of the economy and viewers’ questions via Twitter.
Twitter user @BobAnderson77 asked Gingrich what point he thought the presumed Republican nominee should hammer “day in, day out” on the campaign trail.
“I think it’s really simple” he said. “Can your family afford four more years like this? I think when people think about the deficit, the economy, gasoline, jobs — do you really want four more years like this? I think Obama’s chances of getting re-elected are very small if that’s the last question people ask when they go to vote.”

Gingrich also took umbrage with the idea that President Obama had altered welfare work requirements, albeit amid 8 percent unemployment.
“The president of the United States does not have the power to personally revise the law,” he said. “This is not Venezuela. He’s not Hugo Chavez, and he can’t run around and do stuff like this. He’s done it on welfare. He’s done it on the whole issue of immigration. He’s done it with No Child Left Behind.”
“That violates the whole principle under which our Constitution exists, and I think Obama, in that sense, may well be the most anti-Constitutional president in American history. So I’m offended by that,” he added.

Posted on July 31, 2012 at 6:07amAnyone who wants to write in a name of someone who is not on the ballot for president – just to prove a point or to “show them” really has no idea at all what is at stake. Like Glenn, Romney is not my choice…but I am not going to take a chance that my voting for someone NOT on the ticket is going to hand the election to Obama. There is always 2016 to work for Paul or anyone else you want to try to get elected. We will have that option with Romney, but if you vote ANYONE but Romney we will not have the vote in 2016. We won’t even have a country in 2016 as we know it. If any one of you spouting that has truly been listening and watching, you wouldn’t even consider writing someone in…there is just too much at stake and you would know that. Our own lives, the lives of our children and grandchildren and of our country cannot survive the re-election of Obama.

Posted on July 31, 2012 at 4:43pmThe mission is to oust Obama…that is the ONLY mission!
I was not for the Romney nomination, either
but this is who we have….Romney or Obama.
I admire Allen West greatly, he has leadership written all over him,
but he would be the first one to tell you NOT to waste a write-in vote on him
& give any slight advantage to Obama & the Democrats.
I assume Bachman would feel the same way.
Way, way back, while campaigning for his office,
Rep. West was asked his opinion of Obama-
his exact words were “I can’t STAND the guy” !
West wants OBAMA gone at all cost so we can get this country back on track.
He would NOT want anyone to risk destabilizing THAT mission.
This is Obama’s war, they are throwing everything they can at Romney to
maintain power.
Do NOT throw YOUR vote away…West would be the first to tell you that.
Blowing this mission is NOT an option !
Anyone is better than Obama-
it is the American peoples‘ duty to hold Romney’s feet to the fire, once elected.
Obama has held OUR feet to the fire, that’s NOT the way our country works-
if he is reelected, it will be 4 more years of tyranny,
much worse than what we’ve already endured !
Allen West talks a lot about taking RESPONSIBILITY-
Report Post »he would want America to practice that in the voting booth.
He has a magnificent future-
voting Obama out…is an albatross off his neck & America’s neck,
freeing us all from a psychotic dictator & back to the throes of REAL leadership.

Posted on July 31, 2012 at 3:53amMore like, Romney: I am a conservative, who never really bothered to study what the founders wrote, so I have some contradictory beliefs that really dont gel with my overall political philosophy, but I don’t really examine it enough to realize that. I deeply believe that mankind should be free, though I am slightly retarded.
Pelosi: I will put live babies into ovens if it gets me elected. I don’t care about democrats or republicans, I only care about power. I am very rich, I think that I should be allowed to rob from rich people and pretend to give it to the poor, but really just give it to other rich people who will then scratch my back by helping me to get elected again. I deeply believe that the place for humanity is under my foot. Specifically, I’d like to have my stilleto pumps on the neck of the stupid masses. People are born to be my slaves.
Yeah, totally the same mindset, I mean, lets just stick with Obama, we might as well, because, communists are so similar to misguided conservatives, kind of like how serial killers are so similar to people who pirate music. So lets treat them all the same, because, you know, misguided good isnt really all that different from absolute evil.

Posted on July 30, 2012 at 10:42pmPerhaps Romney can make mention of plans to have a top notch cabinet and advisors and his respect for our military leaders and everything and every department that will speed recovery and promote the kind of America we want back. Expand his reach. Right now he just sounds like he is applying for a job with resume in hand. Would like to envision the big success that comes with his leadership. Shouldn’t be hard to do. Obama’s global outreach did not work out for him. Which he pursued while letting everything go to heck at home. Need a big image of Romney bringing life back to America. I can see some value in a lot of the points he makes, but I also think he would have a very difficult time getting nominated in this current GOP field. There is a strong anti federal government wave in the GOP right now and Newt is obviously a fan of government.
I think the only reason that the establish didn’t support Santorum is because of his extreme views/statements on homosexuality, birth control, religion in government, etc.
Newt had too much baggage and is too “progressive.”
