Who Is America’s Greatest President?

Jesse Waters and Bill OReilly Discuss American Presidents Ronald Reagan and Abraham Lincoln

“Who is America’s greatest president?” That was the ultimate question asked by a recent Gallup poll that placed Ronald Reagan, followed by Honest Abe Lincoln, top of the list among Americans.

Prior to discussing the poll’s findings on “The O’Reilly Factor” Wednesday evening, host Bill O’Reilly aired a “Watters’ World” segment in which producer Jesse Watters revealed just what, exactly, average city-goers known (or more pointedly, don’t know) about presidents from the distant and not so-distant past.

Watch below, but we warn, many of the answers are painful:

I think George Washington was the greatest in American history. The issues he had to deal with along with setting the foundation was incredible, especially for it’s day.

In modern history, I think Ronald Reagan reigns and overall in a close second. He turned this nation around when it was in great need, reset principles and pulled the nation together as not president has since Washington. His policies, like Washington, had world wide implications and he is appreciated by the people of many nations like no other president.

There have been other great leaders, but these two showed that ethics and moral fiber are what truly makes a great president, that serving the people rather than ruling over them sets them apart.

@DB321…nobody asked which President was a traitor. Frankly I’m puzzled by such a comment. Traitor? It’s hard to believe anyone could say that with informed sincerity. You may not agree with the policies. You may not like him as a person. But “traitor”? I can’t see how that kind of talk is really beneficial to anyone.

SANE_MAN, Barack Hussein Obama, is without a doubt the worst President we have ever had, may well be the last President we ever have, and the Imposter-in-Chief is a TRAITOR. You ask, why or how?

In the first place he is an imposter, a liar and a deceiver, and Hell bent on destroying our nation, the economy and the American people. Obama has never been vetted, NEVER. This man is a Muslim, not opinion, fact. He admitted so twice on TV. He bowed to the Saudi King, a deference a Muslim makes, not the President. He is adamantly a supporter of EVERYTHING associated with Islam and an enemy of Israel, and believe it or not an enemy of America. Obama is not an American, whether he was born here or not. EVERYTHING that Obama stands for, promotes in his agenda and his ideology is not American. He and his anti-American cadre of czars, cabinet appointees and the associates and counselors that he surrounds himself with are bent on turning this country a socialist, if not communist, state in league with a globalist system of government and the complete destruction of the middle class, free enterprise and our Judeo-Christian culture and system of laws and the Constitution.

Obama through “men” like George Soros, Andy Stern, Lerner, Leo Gerard, Trumka, and others, in cooperation with the lame stream media, Hollywood, and the rest of the liberal elites are orchestrating OWS, and the Fall Preview is just the beginning of what is about to be unleashed in the spring and summer.

SANE_MAN(continued), The objective is to cause total havoc, whereby the Imposter-in-Chief, will have an “excuse” to declare Marshal Law and “postpone” the fall Presidential election, in actuality, take over as dictator. This is “community organizing” on a national level and the downfall of the American Republic and the Constitution, which Obama and his cohorts literally despise. This is without a doubt being discussed in the the White House and other places in DC and across America in dark rooms, not necessary without light, but without the Light, but the Light sees their every move, and if He so chose could snuff them out in a moment of time.

Without a doubt, this is a time when men and women’s souls will be tried. Obama is evil personified. Make no doubt about that, as are all those in the coven which surrounds him. This is an all out war to destroy us and impose a system of government and life that is opposite of everything we have known and lived and, if successful, will be both an unending nightmare and a daymare, meaning 24/7.

These people are without a doubt sold out to the dark side. There is no compromising with this treachery and there is no return for them as most, if not all have sold their souls. for that their is no repentance. This must not only be opposed, countered and defeated with all natural forces that can be brought against them, but the supernatural of the Living God must be importuned and brought to bear against these dark forces.

Having turned down the pressure by the people to become King of the United States, alone, makes George Washington the best. Just to add more to it, rather than attempt to gain more power like those in modern times, he, along with Jefferson and Adams among the first group, went back to their farms expecting little else (and hoping to be left alone in regards to politics but were not as they were true gentlemen and could not be rude). No President in modern times has returned to their previous profession after sacrificing so much for The United States (as being president is no longer considered a sacrifice but is rather a power grab). Men who think service to the United States and her people is truly service and not a means to an end we would have a much better nation. Oddly, men like these are unable to get to the positions where they could do the best.

Washington and Reagan, without a doubt. Washington continually humbled himself as president, keeping the office to within the Constitutional guidelines, while still calling the House into session to castigate it for trying to influence a treaty by not funding it. He scolded them, saying that only the Senate could ratify a treaty or not, and if the House attempted to defund the measure, it would be usurping a power that it did not have by other means. They passed the funding. Go George!

Agree with the Washington comments. Not sure if he or Abe should be first. I would add John Adams and Thomas Jefferson high on the list.

Sheeple are so easily led. They select Reagan because he likely was the greatest in their lifetimes and they don‘t know America’s wonderful history. Reagan had a lot of great accomplishments but is also was the first to allow borrowing against SS Admin which is a large reason why our national debt is so completely out of control. Nothing was sacred to borrow against after that.

      I concur with you Jeff!

Along with Reagans vision for a free world, he with our allies in Britain were able to set literally millions of people free around the globe esp in the X-Soviet bloc States and later his policies led to the end of the cold War and not a Third WW likle many said he would bring us to. Most of the rest of the presidents were corrupt scroundrels like the Clintons, the Obamas and even the Bushes. Throw in Nixon, Carter and that creep LBJ and you got a real mess Reagan had to straighten out.

As much as the Left wants BHO to be the greatest president by literally foisting that title on him while he is in office, it won’t happen. This is a trick the Left does all the way down to grade school….Oh Johnny I know your really good inside and we are all waiting to see how good you really are. Not everyone is inherently good or even gifted with talent…some of us humans are just dull, lazy and evil. BHO is one of those. He is certainly lazy about his job at the WH. He lacks vision outside his agenda which makes him dull and he is evil with regards to his agenda.

SANE_MAN: When one attempts to address the very best in a catagory, one must also address the very worst.
In my opinion, the very best has been George Washington by far. Second would have to be Ronald Reagan, Third would be Calvin Cooledge (he took the policies of Warren G. Harding and turned them into the “Roaring 20′s” which was the greatest surge in economic growth ever seen by this country in modern times.
Among the very worst would be Woodrow Wilson of course, FDR for his introduction of socialism and fascism into American life. Others would be LBJ for turning Vietnam into his “forever war” by lying to the American people and wasting our money on his “Great Society” which started the downturn from a moral country into the decaying wreck we have today. Abraham Lincoln is also on the list for instituting the move toward a supreme, centralized federal government and of course, starting the War of Northern Aggression against the South as his Northern masters ordered. Then there would be the person calling himself Barack Obama (more accurately called Barry Soetoro) who is presiding over the final fall of liberty by destroying the country he hates. He is a traitor to his country. Ignoring these facts will not make them go away!

Similar to George Washington. Much of the Reagan mystique is fantasy. A good example is the belief he lowered taxes. Truth is he reduced income tax rates and then eliminated some key deductions that hurt the middle class much more than the wealthy. He also replaced much of the lost revenue with higher government fees. At the end of the day…. a shell game at best.

Clearly George Washington is the greatest President, not only for early times, but of all time. If it were not for Washington leading our country in the American Revolution we would have no country and he risked both his life and his fortune to make it happen. The people wanted to make him King after the Revolution, but he refused since such leadership was what he fought against. He reluctantly became President in order to start our new Nation properly.

The President many forget, who I would consider the best President closer to the middle of our history, is Calvin Coolidge. Coolidge was a staunch conservative who believed in rugged individualism and small government and who brought us the Roaring-20′s after the scandal and depression of his predecessors. Coolidge was in fact one of Ronald Reagan‘s favorite President and when Reagan became President he had Truman’s portrait removed from the WH Cabinet Room and replaced with Coolidges’ picture.

And the best President of modern times is clearly “The Gipper” himself, Ronald Reagan. Like Coolidge he was a strong conservative who believed in the individual over the government. He was a strong President who won the Cold War and brought us out of the tragedy that was Jimmy Carter who was America’s worst President until Obama came along. I am proud to say that the first President I was old enough to vote for and did vote for was Ronald Reagan, every President since Reagan has been a major disappointment when compa

Obama, should go down as the man who brought down the United States of America single-handed with out firing a shot. With his socialist co-hots they have undermined our Constitution. When he took the oath of office, he swore to defend the Constitution not destroy it.
The greatest of our presidents was Abraham Lincoln,Ronald Reagen,George Washington, and G.W.Bush.They were men of integrity. I know some will strongly disagree me, but these men stood against the odds and did not back-down. They had and have a strong faith in God, and they showed it.Thank God for Godly leaders.

Lincoln is a double edged sword though. Everyone props him up for the good he did (ending slavery) which I’m glad he did but no one looks at the bad. The amount of power the executive branch usurped by the end of the Civil War was not what our founders intended. At the end of the Civil War because of Lincoln is when federal law started dictating state law allowing the government to grow to the huge unrecognizable monster it is today. Again I am glads slavery is gone but but don’t be clouded by the mans legend. The juggernaut of a beast that is Washington DC started with him.

MITE43. Yes I will wholeheartedly disagree with you. :-) Let me explain. If Obama brought down the US single-handedly then he must be mighty-powerful. Let’s be serious and think about this. Getting us into wars we couldn‘t’ afford, while deregulating and looking the other way on investment banks and balling out Wall Street with tax dollars, while increasing spending, while ballooning our deficit and spending our surplus – and UN-balancing our budget was something our LAST president did…not the current one. Perhaps your derision is misdirected?

Two out of four isn’t too bad. George Bush (either variety) did very little except extend the Reagan legacy for a few more years…..definitely NOT in the top five or even top 20. Abraham Lincoln is an overhyped shill for the Northern bankers and industrialists who wanted the South brought back into the Union by any means necessary because the South was their cash cow…PERIOD. He manipulated the South into starting a war that the South didn’t want or need. He is directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans on both sides during the War, and should go down in history as America’s preeminent MURDERER. The generals under his command were guilty of sickening war crimes (William T. Sherman admitted to as much) against both black and white peoples in the South, and started the United States down the road to the Supreme Federal State that we now have. There is no more United States thanks to Abraham Lincoln. Instead we have the Federal State of America…and that too shall be soon lost thanks to the traitor who is channeling him today.

He has divided people along race and class lines. He promised hope but has only brought anxiety and uncertainty about the future.

Yeah, I know. No one knows anything about him. It’s really too bad. Although, of course, he’s the “best” in the sense of “least bad”, because we never really had a definitively good President. (And that includes Reagan, who fantastically skyrocketed deficits and was unable to shrink government by ending the Fed, the EPA, the Department of Education, or really anything more than lowering taxes, and the Founders who instituted laws against sedition and many other things in violation of the Constitution they had recently signed.)

I agree with your. After reviewing history and what each president did or did not do, I understand that the only good president would be the one that does not seek it, is God fearing, honest, honorable, and does the will of the Father. That is why Washington was such a great president – he did not seek power, however, being a honorable individual when asked he did the best job he could without a “power grab”.

      ————————————————————————————————————–
Kennedy had his good and his bad, but what he did have was claim to being the very last “real” democrat this Country has ever had. I know all about his desire to keep Dr. King in jail, but almost always his reason found its way to the forefront of his thinking. He is also the mark point for when the progressive communists stole the power in the United States. They had Kennedy murdered to have “extreme” progressive LBJ installed and the platform entitlements was staged to explode into political consciousness of every American. That would not have happened had they not murdered Kennedy.

When I look back at the history of America I use prominent points to review historical trends. JFK marked the paradigm from middle age liberalism and republicanism to the rise to communism in America.

@circledwagons I was just reading all these comments shaking my head at all these people praising Lincoln. He wanted to ship all blacks back to Africa, but didn’t have the resources to do it. He invaded the south because they refused to pay for 80% of the country. Slavery was used as propaganda. The C.S.A. was already preparing laws against slavery. Lincoln used terrorist acts against his own people, including rape, torture etc. All because the north wanted to suck off the booming southern industries. Remember Lincoln is Obamas favorite president, and for good reason! John Wilkes Booth was a famous actor, and didn’t destroy his life killing Lincoln because he was mad about slavery. He killed him because he was a true tyrant!
