Whoopi Goldberg Calls Communism a Great ConceptComing off an apparent fart — or not — on live TV last week, Whoopi Goldberg declared on “The View” Tuesday that communism is “a great concept” that “makes perfect sense.”

Her comments came during a discussion with her fellow hosts about the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il, after establishing that his son and successor, Kim Jong Un, had been educated in Switzerland.

“If you say that this is how our culture is and then you send your child to a Swiss boarding school — you know, this is what happens with communism. It’s a great concept. On paper it makes perfect sense. But once you put a human being in power, it shifts. We saw it in Russia, we’ve seen it all around the world. It’s nuts. But, I keep my fingers crossed.”

“We wish them well in North Korea, ” Joy Behar said.

      First thing that Marxists, socialists, fascists and Nazis do whenever they take over a country is murder the elite…such as teachers and college professors, prominent business leaders, religious leaders and widely recognized celebrities, anyone who could rally the people against them. And, once in power, they go after the minority groups and people that are outside the ‘norm’ of their sick ideas of what a society should be. (see Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, the former Soviet Union, Communist China and several dozen other smaller 3rd world countries scattered around the world)

      The way I see it, Woopi, you had better hope that Marxism never takes hold in this country. In their eyes, you would already have two strikes against you.

And thanks to her uncontrolled mouth, she continues to demonstrate that fact, leaving little doubt in anyone except those who unthinkingly, march, lockstep, with her.

      If you study American History, you will learn that the Pilgrims attempted a Communist style society at first. The concept was that everyone shared what they had with others. They soon learned it didn‘t work because some people were lazy and didn’t produce, just depended on the hard work of others to survive. So they changed to a more Capitalistic style. Each man kept what he made, but they traded with each other, so that each man could get what he wanted via the fruits of his own labor. That’s when their society began to take off and become prosperous.

      Whoopie is right. Communism seems like a great concept on paper. That’s the only place it works.

      Communism isn’t a great concept, even on paper; Rather it’s a short-sighted concept.

      Those who are for communal property don’t understand that, while it‘s nice to wish that everyone didn’t have to do without, and they’d like to think that they would work to feed both themselves and everyone else in their commune, the fact is that, not only are humans not perfect, but logistically speaking there really is only so much a person can give – even to their very close friends.

      Communism doesn’t work because it is the antithesis to the very reason we work in the first place – everyone always works, first and foremost, for themselves, because we don’t own anyone else such that we should expect anything from them. It’s nice if they do something for us, but we ultimately realize that the only person we can truly trust to look out for me, is me.

      And it’s not like economics is a zero sum game. The more capital-intensive an economy becomes, and the longer the production process, the more wealth is created and traded, and the higher the standard of living becomes for everyone.

      Communism destroys the very mechanism which makes the creation of wealth possible: the means of determining profits and losses – this is why all forms of collectivism create economic destruction and are unsustainable.

      CRITICISM: The headline of this article is misleading. It takes her comment out of context, changing the meaning of her words. READ the article, what she said is that Communism LOOKS good on PAPER, but fails in REALITY. I may not like 90% of what this woman has to say, but it is unfair and untruthful to distort her words like that. STOP IT.

      It does appear that the Acts churches were communistic. However, I would like to point out two reasons to think that this was a temporary arrangement, and was never intended to be the norm.

      For one thing, just a couple paragraphs later, we get to the story of Ananias and Sapphira who, we are told, were welcome to do whatever they wanted with their own property, but decided to lie about their gift to the poor.

      “While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not [b]under your control?”

      And in the 1 Corinthians, Paul chides the church for not eating in their own homes, and instead eating everything that was brought to fellowship meals, such that the poor had nothing to eat.

      1 Corinthians 11:22
      “What! Do you not have houses in which to eat and drink? Or do you despise the church of God and shame those who have nothing?”

      So in the Acts church, as well as the Corinthian church, there was private property.

      As for regulation of the free market – it’s actually the regulations that cause economic destruction.

      I thought communism made sense (briefly) when I was in Jr. High school .When I thought about it awhile, then read up on it, I quickly changed my mind.That was when I was in my mid teens in the 1970s.Funny,Whoopi cant figure this out to this day.       I totally agree. Communism is a great concept. It is a fairy tale where everything is equal. No one has more than his fellow man, and everyone’s needs are met. I agree also that throwing a human being in the mix messes it up from the start because we are wired, naturally, to get a bigger pile of “things” than his or her neighbor. In every society there have been the haves (kings, princes, presidents, chancellors, warlords, kinpins, etc) and the have-nots (slaves, peasants, serfs, peons, common folk) from the beginnings of time! That is why Communism will never work.

      I take issue with everyone that says Whoopie is right about Communism looking great on paper……Are you guys kidding me. It doesn’t look good on paper any more than it works in the real world. It is not based in reality nor does it hold things I say we hold dear, like individual liberty and private property ownership. Communism is an evil concept even on paper because it seeks to force equality upon everyone by reducing access to resources and controlling production and distribution. It is an oppressive controlling idea that is shrouded in ideal of eliminating poverty as it’s cover. Communism has killed more people in the modern age than all the wars of the modern age combined.

When individual freedom is taken, creative freedom automatically goes.The film,play, or music is produced to the liking of the new dictator and written with strict permission by a new Creative Thought Assembly. Hollywood and the NY Village would be really feel the heat if their precious communism takes hold here in the USA.       It depends on what you mean by “work”. If you want as many people as possible to live in poverty, then it works; however, if your goal is to have the greatest technology, manufacturing, access to public education, sanitation, etc, then it does not work.

      Plus she says “we can keep our fingers crossed”. Crossed for what? Apparently she forgot how Lenin murdered 10s of thousands of fellow Russians after WWII for surrendering to the Germans. She must have forgotten how many fellow Chinese were killed by their leaders, or how many North Koreans have been murdered by their last Communist Leader or how many will be killed by their new Communist leader. How many Cambodians were killed by Communists after we left Vietnam or how many Vietnamese were killed by the Communists after we left Vietnam. The list goes on and on. Cuba is another country who has murder their own citizens because of their opposition to the government’s belief. Communism isn’t even good on paper. She knows nothing of Communism. They rule by murder and terror.

      On the surface, Communism does make sense, it seems very logical: People can produce far more than they need. If everyone produces all they can and consumes only what they need, then the economy will grow at maximum rates, and everyone shares in the prosperity. Marx believed that all social ills stemmed from the elite (bourgeois) leeching off the efforts of the workers (proletariat)–get rid of the leech and society would be free to flourish…

      Unfortunately, life is not that simple…not all rich people are leeches (nor are all workers productive), and removing them leaves a vacuum of power which a dictator will step in to fill. The result is even greater oppression, poverty, and misery…

      I have read the Communist Manifesto…yes it DOES make sense…However, I have also read HISTORY, and it has shown that violent revolution and collectivization is NOT the answer. FREE MARKETS are the answer–NOT Communism, NOT Socialism, NOT Crony Cartels, NOT Too Big To Fail…

      Sadly, critical thinking and reasoning are not taught in our public schools anymore. On the surface a communist utopia sounds great…that is until you factor in the human element. Self interest is a basic human instinct. Communism dosn’t factor that in therefore it can never work. Central planning of commerce is impossible. How can any government successfully set prices based on the real supply and demand of goods and services. Their are thousands of transactions taking place every second. Only a free market system can do this. Its not that hard to understand ,but im no economics professor like Whoopi.

      There is no better example of this than “Social” Security. Great idea to take care of our seniors in there golden years. All the sudden, the government has a slush fund to barroe against.Now comes along Jimmy Carter and he makes it possible for those who have contributed not one red cent to collect. Immigrants that gain citizenship that are old enough can start drwaing immediatetly. Now those folks have parents and grandparents that they bring over, gain citizenship and they get to start collecting. I haven’t even begun to discuss the welfare paid ou.Now, I‘ve been paying in my whole life and I’m told the program will be bankrupt before I’ll be able to collect any of “my” money. Do you see how this whole comunism/ socialism works? Leave me out of these BS programs!!!

      She has enough money to choose her local but would rather stay here and use her “celebrity” to push the progressive agenda. She needs to remember she gained this status through capitalism. In no way would she have had the opportuniy in a communist country. She would be a nobody. Period! I would like to know if she understands how lucky she is and why she has had any success in a country that she still believes is racist. How is that possible? If things were still so bad as she claims how is any black person here in the USA a success? Yes there is still some who are racist, however allot of those happen to be black as well as white.Constantly pulling the race card only makes her and her fellow black celebrity friends look like hypocrits. They should be thankful that so many white people joined the “Dream” that MLK had for all Americans . Without the support of many white citizens that would never had been possible.

      Actually, for once I agree with Whoopi. On paper, or in theory, the idea that everyone works and everyone shares in the product of said work is a wonderful concept. That being said, it only works in theory or on the small scale such as in a Christian or Buddhist monastery, where the main flaw of the theory of communism is being flushed out on a daily basis as much as possible.

      The root problem that causes communism to fall apart in real world application is that people are involved, as Whoopi said. People are flawed; we’re greedy, selfish, lazy, etc., all things that mean communism cannot ever work. We want our own property, we want more than others, we are ambitious. Not saying all of these are bad, but it’s a fact of life that we are born with these desires and ambitions. This means communism can never work. That was Marx’s mistake, denying God. He built his theory on a foundation that was flawed, i.e. that human beings would want to work solely for the betterment of mankind rather than themselves.

      Capitalism is built on a foundation that takes into account our nature. We’re greedy and selfish, wanting as much bang for our buck as we can get, wanting more goods and services for ourselves, wanting more and more and more. This makes capitalism work; it’s based on the truth, that we aren’t perfect. Socialism and Communism are based on a lie – that man can be perfected by man. Communism? Nice theory, but Milton Friedman can tell you greed works for us all.

And then she says “Once you put a human being in power, it shifts”. Which is why our founders gave us this wonderful republic with all of the checks and balances that the Obummer administration is trying to destroy. It is also why we have the second amendment. An out of control government is the biggest threat to our country that there ever was or will be. And our government is out of control.

      Human nature aside, communism is a terrible system because it does not reward effort, merit or risk taking. Instead, it rewards voting “present” or getting an award for “participant”. So optimally, with the best of leaders, such a system can at best provide nominal results.

      It really is NOT a great concept:
      1) If it is voluntary, people feed off of each other and the system collapses. e.g. hippe communes
      2) If it is not voluntary then it is slavery. e.g. Marxist/Maoist Communism

      It’s not just the leaders, it’s human nature.
      Communism removes the motive to produce and gives massive unrestrained power to the “leaders”
