Whoopi Goldberg Joins Chorus of People Defending the ‘N-Word’ By Saying it Herself

It’s a scene straight out of bizarro world – one of the most notable, and most liberal black comedians on TV defending news anchors who’ve used one of the most universally reviled racial slurs in history, eventually using it herself, while conservatives recoil. Yet that‘s exactly what happened on today’s episode of The View, where Whoopi Goldberg went out of her way to not only defend the word, but say it on national TV. Ironically, she was bleeped while doing so. Newsbusters has more:
After some give and take mostly with co-host Barbara Walters who expressed discomfort with the idea, Goldberg said, “What reporters do is they report the news. And every time you make it ‘the N-word,’ it’s cute.”
She continued, “But I feel very strongly about the word. Do not eliminate it. It’s part of our history. Every time people try to sort of make it sound better or more acceptable, let’s call it what it is.”[...]
Ironically, part of Goldberg’s response was bleeped, but from what I can tell by trying to read her lips in the video, I believe she said, “Yes I call it what it is. I say n—ger, they bleep me.”
Watch the exchange here:
This isn’t the first time Goldberg has defended usage of the slur. Back in 2008, she had feuded with conservative View co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck over whether the word means something different when used by black people than it does when used by white people. According to Goldberg, blacks use it as a term of endearment, making its usage more positive in that context.

The blacks “OWN” it. Nobody else can use it , for they are not worthy!

Posted on April 10, 2012 at 9:29pmI guess if the world wasn’t convinced it came out of zimmermans mouth then I guess enough black celebrities and politicians will just keep having to use ****** to inflame the black American community.
The race pimps reign of terror on all Americans is coming to a close. No more cadillacs or demand for your gay assistant to rub on your thigh cream. Then call him a little ****** for not wanting to caress your inner thighs because your as old as dirt.
Selective outrage rocks! I noticed the gay rights groups didn’t stand up for that poor little dude who actually had a moral compass.
Isn’t it cool to be able to use derogatory terms about people, just like the rappers do? Or the justice brothers do? Or whoopi? If I knew I would be this free I would have joined the communist movement a long time ago!

Posted on April 11, 2012 at 12:25amWhoopi Goldberg is not a good person. She’s spiteful and reactionary on her best days. She’s a raging hypocrite the rest of the time.
I guess she has a following, but I can’t imagine why. Who’d date or marry a woman who watches The View?
Report Post »OhSnappage
Posted on April 11, 2012 at 1:57amI do believe Whoopie was recorded on “the view” like 3 years ago saying the N-word was theirs (Blacks) and only they (Blacks) can use it. She seemed mighty possessive and sure of herself at the time. Lecturing Hasselback at the time, that a white male teacher had no right to use the n-word. Even tho all the students were using it in a buddy fashion.
The woman is a hypocrite and just another typical bigot.

Posted on April 11, 2012 at 3:46amYet, it is okay for them to call the white people “crackers”… How is that right?!? It is not. Logically, this is truth… Words are nothing but a combination of letters to create a response. Some will like them, and some will not. hat is life. What one holds as relevant, one holds as offensive. Political correctness is a falsehood of an inward hate of one’s own worth. The only true given right, is the right of free will. How you use it, is how it is perceived. People need to stop playing the victim and start being accountable for their words and actions.

Posted on April 11, 2012 at 9:55amThis is one of my pet peeves. A couple decades ago the science of anthropology categorized the human population using taxonomy terms such as Caucasian, *****, etc. At the time these were scientific terms never intended to draw any social implications. Apparently because the word ***** started with the same letter, N, as the word ******, it became “outlawed” by our culture. The bottom line is that a science, anthropology, allowed its self to change its rules because of social pressure. Apparently, presently, anthropology no longer draws any distinction in its taxonomy among the several races because of social pressure. I don’t even want to get into my argument against describing blacks as African-Americans. Geese….

Posted on April 10, 2012 at 9:08pmWhy do so many black comedians , rap musicians, and entertainers insist on using foul language ? What does it prove ? Maybe it is just a verbalization of the anger and hate they feel. I can understand the anger of those who were forced to live under segregation, but after 60 years of Affirmative Action and change, why today ? Why the need to offend common decency ? Oprah Winfrey never felt the need and she was a great uniter. Guess she lacked the hate and anger we are seeing so much of today.

The use of that vocabulary allows the undereducated, or mentally challenged to communicate effectively in their enviornment! It also, by the mere coarsmess draws a distinction of irresponsibility!
