‘Whore’: Is Pregnancy Card Funny or Offensive?

Whore Pregnancy Card Cause Stir, What Do You Think?

You can stumble upon sleazy greeting cards in certain book stores and certainly the Internet, but shoppers at Target have been taken aback by a card that has found its way to the shelves of the greeting card area of stores in California. The card means to poke fun at the expecting, reading on the front “heard you’re pregnant,“ and on the inside one word rhyming with ”chore.” FOX 40 reports that some find it funny, others think it’s offensive.

Whore Pregnancy Card Cause Stir, What Do You Think?

” I can’t believe they put that out there for sell. I would be offended as well,” wrote one commenter on the station’s Facebook page. However, many other commenters agreed with and “liked” another writer who said “If you dont like it then dont buy it!!!!! Personal choice!”

What do you think?

Really, with all the issues going on in this country, this makes news? You guys have complained about all the worthless garbage being seen and listened to that is being produced by other media companies and the best you got is some company decided to use a little freedom of speech. If you don‘t like alcohol don’t go to the bar. If you don’t like naked women getting tips at a club, don’t go. If you don’t like what the card says, don’t buy it, don’t read it. Oh and writers and editors and all you guys at the Blaze can we now get back to something that qualifies as real news?

” ‘Whore’: Is Pregnancy Card Funny or Offensive?”

      … or True?

“Over the last decade, the percentage of all high school students (9-12th grade) who report ever having had sexual intercourse has declined. At the same time, among teens who are sexually active, rates of contraceptive use – including condom use – have increased. Both factors help to account for the decrease in teen pregnancy rates in recent years. Yet, despite these trends, about a third (34%) of young women become pregnant at least once before they reach the age of 20 – about 820,000 a year,1 and approximately four million teens contract a sexually transmitted disease (STD) each year.”
-U.S. Teen Sexual Activity Fact Sheet

Ok, try this. You’re a veteran? You murdering whore! Now I know this statement is worthless garbage, but I’m using my freedom of speech, and if you don’t like my reply, don’t read it, or don’t comment on the story. The point is, freedom comes with responsibilities, and this card is not being responsible to a culture that should strive for better. Simply saying someone is free to display pornographic trash in a public location removes any responsibility for being obscene. Saying “don’t look at the card” is ridiculous, once you’ve already seen it!

If you don‘t like it don’t buy it. If enough people are not buying it they will quit making it because they would see it not worth the paper it’s printed on.

If enough people are buying it…well enough said, public opinion approves and they will keep printing them.

That is how markets work, we don’t need law makers to step in and regulate the card market too…

Start instilling values, and morels in your children and the demand for this type of card will drop….It starts at home people.

It wasn’t all that long ago that the NAACP protested a Hallmark graduation card -

CULVER CITY, Calif. (KABC) — A graduation card sold at local stores has been pulled from shelves after a civil rights group raised concerns about the content. The group claims the card’s micro-speaker plays a greeting that’s racist.

It is a graduation greeting from Hallmark that says, “Hey world, we are officially putting you on notice.”

Members of the Los Angeles NAACP did take notice. As characters known as “Hoops” and “Yoyo” banter on, African American leaders hear offensive language. NAACP calls Hallmark card racist

“And you black holes, you are so ominous. Watch your back,” the card vocalizes.

      Where is the NAACP now?

The simplist way to put it is this: I don’t ask you to be responsible for me. I don’t ask you to take care of me, or to work so I can stay home. I ask nothing from you, other than to respect me as a human being. I ask that you respect my rights to make my own choices. I only ask for what I will give you. I respect your right to live your life and to shop where you want and to buy the products that you want.

This card will not kill people if they buy it. This card will not cause mass starvation or world war. This card is nothing unless you decide to throw it up and throw a temper tantrum. So what, someone did their job and produced a new product for the company they work for. Is it in bad taste? Maybe to some, but it isn’t offensive unless you read it and that word rings some kind of truth inside you. It isn’t offensive until someone comes along and decides they have the right to tell others what is and what is not offensive. It isn’t child porn, it isn‘t a drug and it isn’t a crime. So let it go and worry about improving your own life and let the rest of us improve our own.

Respect my right to form the opinion that the time spent on this article could have been spent on something more important, like the Muslim Brotherhoods sweeping election wins in Egypt or maybe why there have been so many explosions in Iran lately and who is behind it. Maybe the time could have been spent on something that threatens life right now. We have lots of that going on.

Certainly, freedom of speech gives the manufacturer of the card the right to produce it, but there is so much crudeness and debasement in our culture these days that I wish Target would have thought twice about including it in their inventory of cards. They do have a choice of what items to sell and they made the wrong choice here.

Ok heres my point im sorry if this offends anyone im sorry but honestly I think America has more to worry about than kids getting a hold of this card. Kids do way worse things than read cards I mean I m not sure if everyone sees how kids act in public or doing drugs carrying guns etc….but i think a card is the last thing anyone should worry about. My biggest problem with this is this is all u have to talk about??? Isnt there more things in america to worry about??? Like money soldiers making it home and your really worried about a stupid card!!!! It just goes to show that aericans have nothing better to do than complain u know at least u have the right to complain its freedom of speech it what us soldiers keep fighting for. And as far as shutting target down how come we dont shut gun shops down??? You know there are people in other countries that wish they could even go to a target n ur wanting to shut it down over a card. How many of you have been to spencers? You dont have tobe 18 to go in there but yet you dont want to shut it down???

I don’t shop at Target anyway! I’ve found the store to be cheeze, understocked and understaffed. Everything in the store look “plasticy” including the clothes!

There are inexpensive stores and sales at regular stores that far surpass Target’s prices and quality. An when I get home, I don‘t feel like I’ve been shopping in a plastic factory.

    Cheap goods, cheap “thrills.”

What a pathetic defense of a materialistic, in-your-face, crude, rude, down & dirty, “cool” society. Everyone strives to live the life of a rock star. Cool. Just because you can doesn’t necessarily mean you should, unless you’re really “cool”.

Sure the dollar is almost worthless and will be cheaper then tissue paper, we are the worlds police force, our president and wife hates America and wants to change it into something else but will not tell us what. Lets stop shopping at Target that will fix it and make us feel better. Hey lets tax the rich more and give it to the Government, I’m sure they will use it wisely…

I never dated a woman that would have continued dating me if I had given her a card like this. A card like this is either given to a whore, or it’s given by someone who never intends to see the person ever again, or it‘s given by someone with stunted maturity who actually thinks it’s funny… and they will wonder…”I’m a nice guy; why can’t I find a decent woman.” And the answer is… because you’re not a nice guy.
Give it to that whore who has 15 kids by 3 men… she’ll appreciate it… It might bring tears to her eyes.

I love all the “If you don’t like it, don’t buy it” comments. These are no doubt the same vile reprobates who would say “Against abortion? Don’t have one.” We’re talking about Target, here not an adult novelty shop. Children and teenagers browse the card aisles. and they don’t need anymore filth brought to their attention than they already get from every other direction. Target should immediately abandon this and any similar products they sell.

That is why children should always be accompanied by their parent’s. It is the parent’s job to raise and protect their children. So if you don’t want your children reading this I guess you better keep an eye on them. Quit letting the media educate your children and quit letting the government brain wash you into thinking they are better parent’s than you.
