Why Are Human Feet Still Washing Ashore in the Vancouver Area?

A human foot washed up in the Vancouver area Tuesday — the 11th one in four years.

According to police, the severed foot with attached leg bones was inside a running shoe and was found floating in the water in Vancouver’s False Creek.

Coroner’s office officials are investigating, the Vancouver Sun reported. For now, police have no explanation.

“There is no indication at this early stage in the investigation how the remains came to be there,” police spokeswoman Jana McGuinness told the paper.

Eight feet, all inside running shoes, have washed ashore in British Columbia since 2007. Three more have been found in Washington state.

According to the Vancouver Sun:

The first foot, discovered in August 2007 on Jedediah Island, northeast of Nanaimo, B.C., was associated with a deceased man whose name police withheld at the request of his family.

A man’s right foot found on Gabriola Island in August 2007 remains unidentified.

Two feet found on Valdez and Westham islands in July 2008 belonged to the same man.

And two female feet found in Richmond, B.C., in December 2008 belonged to the same woman.

In October 2009, a right foot was discovered on a beach in Richmond.

The New York Daily News adds this:

The bizarre discovers (sic) have attracted international attention – and spawned fears of a serial killer.

But cops have steadfastly denied that anything sinister is behind the gruesome discovers, suggesting that the deaths were drownings or suicides and that the decaying feet separated from corpses naturally in the water.

    Just ask Al Gore…it has to be from Global Warming…
    Severe Weather = Global Warming
    Cool Summer = Global Warming
    Warm Summer = Global Warming
    Drought = Global Warming
    Flooding = Global Warming
    Mild Winter = Global Warming
    Cold Winter = Global Warming

      I am sure you would get “chicken little” to agree with that. Everything that happens is due to Global Warming if you ask Gore. He thinks we are all idiots because we do not agree with him. We are all racists according to him if we don’t believe in global warming. The “Chicken Little” Global Warming thing has sent this “wanna be” scientist over the deep end. Maybe it is him cutting off people‘s feet when they don’t agree on Global Warming, you thunk? Na! I know I should not joke about things like this.

      “This was NO serial killer accident-it was natural tissue separation from bodies in the water!”

      Tourism,and whale watching could be severely impacted, if the Canucks actually admitted that a serial killer was “afoot”(sorry, couldn’t resist) in British Columbia.
      Vancouver has been disintegrating over the last 10 years from the decay of urban drug use and their inability to control violent crime in downtown Vancouver, BC. So why not a serial killer? A rogue Orca? Could be Chinese “immigrants” who tried to jump ship and were punished, could be almost anything but the ridiculous explanation given.

    It is the progressive liberals in Canada, they see jogging and exercise an aggressive American masculine bettering yourself thing hated and feared by the left so they’re sending warnings to others who might be thinking of bettering themselves also without the assistance of their Progressive Government.

      @THE GRAY LENSMAN

      If you have the chance to visit Canada on Rememberance Day, you will see true and faithful rememberance of Canada’s war veterans. Listen to Last Post (Canadian Taps). Canada stops for the day and remembers their war dead from WWI, WWII, Korean, Viet Nam (many Canadians came to the US and joined our military), Gulf War 1 and the current war. Canada’s soldiers died in great bloody numbers. These boys know which end is deadly.

      Graylensman – in fact Canada ranks third behind the US and Norway in ownership of guns. http://www.cdnshootingsports.org/tenmyths.html
      Most studies only take small arms into account, but including rifles and shotguns Canadian gun ownership is very high.

      SERIOUSLY! No one has commented on the ethnicity of the remains found or any DNA traces to existing populations. It may be the result of some of the native population using traditional burial at sea. Really, more information should be released.

    Vancouver is pretty, but lots of commie/prog mentality there. When this serial runs out of easy bodies to chop, he will be upping his game… you watch. My hunch is a fisherman using human bait. Literally. chopped chum human. Look for a machine that does that to fish. The intact feet are the signature. Overweight 30s – 40s. Any report on DNA on this? Time in water? Any report of drugs in remains? Race? Skin color? We are not getting much info at all on this story.

    Hey nay sayers! How about doing a search of the USA’s east coast current states for feet from “suicides”…….or anywhere else.

    I would like to make the following observations

    –Why is it only feet that was ashore and no other material (Like vertebrae)that has a far greater buoyancy.
    –Since the first foot washed ashore in August 2007 It can not be the Japanese Earthquake.
    –In 5 years a mass murderer would have an established MO why is it that the detectives can not pinpoint which area this monster functions in (If there is such a murderer).
    –Is there no single footed people hopping around the Vancouver area (or the Island for that matter)

    I would like to offer the following hypothesis;
    If you are somewhat squeamish stop reading here…
    The Queen of the North sank near Gill Island in Wright Sound March 22 2006 (remember first foot found August 2007) Due to very cold water, lesser oxygen levels and great depth decay might be slower than normal. Could it be that these are the feet of a group of people that was not “registered” as passengers on the Queen of the north? Just saying…

    God bless America

      Thank you for pointing that out. I’m thinking that whoever is doing this is targeting runners (maybe trail runners in the area.) That part of the continent is popular with trail runners and since all of them have running shoes on, it stands to reason that they are in fact the target. From what I know of suicides people usually take off their valuables including their shoes (unless they’re bridge jumpers.) Either way lets not act like the public is stupid. People watch too many episodes of Criminal Minds and other shows like it and read too many crime novels nowadays and know that something as specific as all of them having running shoes and only their feet with attached leg bones being found is a definite signature. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist here folks. Just be careful anyone out in that part of the world if your hiking or running trails (I’m just sayin.!)

    I’d assume they were accidental drownings and suicides. I wouldn’t be surprised considering that many people commit suicide by jumping off of a bridge or cliff. The fall itself would definitely break your ankles, and a broken ankle is much more likely to snap off the body and drift with the current. My hypothesis is that it‘s a high chance it’s just people jumping to their ends, and over time they come to shore. Serial killer sounds beyond unlikely. Also @Colo it’s possible, considering the ocean currents do travel from Japan toward Washington then down along the Western Seaboard, but north of Washington the current goes toward Japan. I’d consider them oceanborne, riverside, bridge, etc suicides.
