Why Are NY School Kids Being Taught To Emulate Van Jones?

Our continuing look into the public school system and what is being taught to our children generates another surprise today.  Kids in New York are being taught to be like Van Jones!

Today, we learned on the Glenn Beck radio program (video clip at the end)  that the public schools in New York state have a special program in their curriculum on Police Brutality that prominently features Van Jones, a former White House Green Jobs Czar who stepped down from that plum position after his deep roots in many radical organizations were exposed on both Beck’s TV and radio programs.  Here are some of the classic clips featuring Van Jones’ own words:

Why Are NY School Kids Being Taught To Emulate Van Jones?

The former Green Jobs Czar is fond of saying that he doesn’t mind dropping the radical pose in order to achieve the radical agenda. He has not only changed his “pose” but apparently suffers from selective memory when referencing his own history.  Van Jones’ bio has much of his recent history while seeming to forget his roots in some very radical movements. Conspicuously absent was any mention of his ties to something called S.T.O.R.M. After he graduated from law school, Mr. Jones joined STORM, (Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement). This Socialist-based organization claims to have given birth to the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, something that Van Jones actually does claim on his resume.

So what exactly is he teaching to NY’s school kids?  This is a two-hour program for high schoolers that is distributed to the schools through the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights. The DC-based non profit preaches “Speaking truth to power.”  At the very top of the list of things to be discussed is something found in other RFK Center programs, “The Universal Declaration of Human Rights.”  If that declaration does not sound familiar to you, you are not alone.  The UDHR is credited to First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt and was adopted by the United Nations in 1948.  From the website of Ms. Roosevelt’s biography:

The Universal Declaration is the primary international articulation of the fundamental and inalienable rights of all members of the human family. It represents the first comprehensive agreement among nations as to the specific rights and freedoms of all human beings. The Declaration has become a cornerstone of customary international law, binding all governments to its principles.

Why Are NY School Kids Being Taught To Emulate Van Jones?

While the course summary from Mr. Jones only mentions a few articles from this document, the massive declaration actually contains some 30 Articles and when you drill down into the entire declaration, it is easy to understand why they might be omitted from any publication or promotion.  Like Article 25, which states:

(1) Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.

Hmm, Article 25 appears to be guaranteeing everyone the same standard of  living, including food, clothing, and housing.  This sounds a little like Socialism to me.

And so we have an avowed Communist who also was a 9/11 Truther for a while.  A man who plays the race card while advocating for environmental justice – remember when he said this?

“White polluters and white environmentalists are essentially steering poison into the people of color communities.”

Jones was part of a program out west called CopWatch which begat the Ella Baker Center, and that group has been credited with starting the Bay Area Police Watch.

The idea of educating our children to be aware of the potential for police brutality is a terrific one.  It merely seems that we might be able to find a better instructor than one with deep roots in radical movements that profess loyalty to the Mao and the Communist way of living and has talked about his dream of “complete revolution.”  In his own words:

    I have yet to understand why these groups aren’t speaking out against violence towards cops, racial and violent rap music rants teaching children to hate cops, etc?

      Interesting you brought up the cross and Jesus. I am convinced that people like Jones don’t see Jesus as The Christ or Son of God, but rather only as a radical revolutionary that stood up against Rome. Tune into any of the cable channels discussing Jesus and you will find the focus is on his political and social stances rather than his divinity. The programs are more tools used to reinvent Jesus, history, and misguide viewers.

      WWJD = What Would Jesus Do? (Preach against the wealthy and powerful, feed the multitudes even though some of them might be undeserving loafers, heal the sick without asking for insurance information or payment. . . .)

      WDJD = What Did Jesus Do? (Incarnate God so He could suffer and die as a man, yet atone for our sins and rise again as God. . . .)

      I think true Christian is someone who subscribes to both, and is not led into the temptation of calling someone else “arrogant camel dung.”

    Well, I hope this kind of crap is never introduced to my children in school. The thought of showing up at the residence of a school administrator to settle this problem would be the answer. Turn about is fair play.

      red-dawn: Not all schools are like this. My husband is a School Superintendent and he said that nothing like this would EVER pass his desk, and he reads through every book that the kids are learning from. Of course, we are in a small town where the parents still get very involved in what their kids are learning.
      At the last board meeting all of the board members were looking over at 6 large flatscreen televisions up against the wall of the board room that had just arrived at the school; and before that numerous smart boards had arrived. The board looked at my husband for an explanation…ah, those are your title 1 stimulus dollars at work he told them. Federal monies are not paying for our kids to be educated…no, they are buying toys for them to play with. They are giving free breakfasts, free lunches, and providing all day daycare from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm that your tax dollars pay for, etc. While my husband has to cut another $300,000 + on top of the hundreds of thousands he cut last year, we are entertaining kids with taxpayer dollars, instead of educating them; dumbing down our youth. It’s unbelievable!
      By the way, as a reminder again, School Superintendents are not in the union. They fight the unions constantly in order to save dollars for education, but you should know by now that the unions never back down. My husband is also one of the very few conservative School Superintendents out here.
      And don’t even get me started on what I think of teachers. That‘s a long story as I’ve seen and heard just about everything in the last 38 years from them in education!

    Just got done watching Beck. Saw the list of organizations involved w/ unions anti FBI etc. Saw Wright College sds in it. City of Chicago Jr. College on NW side of city. Found a fb page. sds wright college. School sanctioned group. People better wake up. They’re having a 2 hr. rally on March 14th with one of the speakers being the head of the AAAN!!!!!! The guy Beck just spoke about who was involved in the raids in Chicago in Sept. 2010! Get the info out. This is not cool. Some head of the school also speaking at it. They were also involved in the WI protesting.

      It‘s not on the school’s webpage. I found it on facebook. The group is sds wright college. Within the group, which was public as of today, there is an event invite for the March 14th event at the school. It lists who will be speaking. It is from 2-4pm in the school atrium. Also, a woman named Stephanie Weiner seems to be heavily involved in the group’s page. She is the wife of the UofI professor who had his home raided by the FBI in Sept. of 2010.

The head of the AAAN and a school head and others will be speaking. It also appears Stephanie Weiner is heavily involved w/ the group.     I was a Peace officerin NYC. The cops are not all the saint that glen make them out to be(not in a bad way towards the public),But they know who is who in the unions, They are very muchinto what in it for me and mine. I am speaking from first hand. I was a Shop steward. I know That if the contract came down to it. The rank and file would got lock step with the union and there brother in the schools and firehouses.What was Law enforcement 25 yrs ago is gone.It is filled 75% people looking the cah out at 25yrs or 55 years old. and full bennies. The PBA crowns mayors along with the FDNY and teachers Union. I think Glen may be fooled by with he think the rank and file are are about. I hope I am wrong.I know! I am not!

      @NYSTREETKID ~~~ I am so sorry. I am sorry for the ones who have sold out. Being a policeman / policewoman, a fireman /fire woman, a teacher used to be honorable, courageous professions. I always admired and respected the police, the firemen and many of the teachers with whom I taught for many, many years. Yours is a sad tale, the Judas story all over again. I pray and will continue to pray that honor will be resurrected within these three professions. I know GOD has mercy. We just need to stop the wrong we are doing, turn around, and thank HIM for it.

      What you state is believable and that’s why when TSHTF all the trouble/break down will begin in the inner city, with rural/county cops not far behind.
      As a 24 year Army vet many of my former men are now LEO’s who tell me about 5% would do whatever told even if un-constitutional, the others hold out as long as possible then protect family.

    The whole idea is brain washing, what do you think…They want HOPE and CHANGE… The only way to get it is to teach the children the wrong stuff.. Who said if you give me your children until they are 5 or 6 and you can have them back but they will always be mine??? That’s what’s going on, is the schools are making parents irrelevant… parents need to set-up and be parents. But the Bible does say in the last days son’s will turn on mothers and daughters on fathers etc… they are making parents the bad guys and Van Jones the good guy.

      Look at who they are recruiting and teaching. They recruit people who disrespect law and authority and strive for a lawless soceity. They are teaching their garbage to our kids in the public school systems and in the colleges. The structure of their teaching and organizing makes the kids feel like if they don’t embrace this crap they will have no social life. Parents need to be involved in what their kids are doing in school, after school and online.

      Its not just the schools in NY.
      I hope people from other parts of the country will start sending details of whats going on in their districts, to Glenn .
      In SFBA , they have gatherings in mexican churches on regular basis where community organizers give demos to illegals and their kids on how to make the cops back off by calling them racists and other choice words, when pulled over for driving drunk, or with no license, or with no insurance, or with drugs, or with driving a stolen car, or after causing an accident , or a combo of one or more of the above.
      Illegals are given phone numbers and contacts to call to complain against cops , it doesn‘t matter if the cop was right because they want to flood the Police Auditor’s office with complaints. And then use the number of complaints to twist the Mayor’s arm to have the cops back off illegal aliens and just go after+arrest whites.

      My child would be out of that school so fast they would not know what hit them .. I don’t care if I had to spend my nights homeschooling I would .. I would also suggest that any parent with children in a Public School ..print this off and go in and tell them NO WAY! They need to be confronted on this cr*p .. and then show up at the School Board meeting and do the same thing and the Superintendent … THIS INDOCTRINATION MUST NOT STAND!

      This is true, editting can change an individual’s opinion by much, but when someone with an agenda severely edits Beck, they leave out very key points to his arguement and take his conversation completely out of context. I’ve personally seen them do that to Beck time and again.
      Van Jones on the other hand, is NEVER taken out of context. He means exactly what he says, an editting him in this story is probably due to time constrants, not propaganda results.
      Why do you not understand this?

      What happened? How did we let this happen? Why? were we too busy with our ‘stuff’ and making $$$$ and for what? this? this was going on while we were playing, yes, playing. ‘Play now Pay later’. this is later, and now we are paying. is it too late or not? do something now or cry later.
      JZS….knock yourself on your head and WAKEUP !!!! …. would you sit and watch the full video? 20 min or 30 mins long if not longer? you’d have to do it with any video presented to you. i doubt you would. i couldnt listen to or watch a video just to see if Glenn was giving me the facts. yes i trust him. as he has said in the past and now im reading or watching on TV just as he said. he’s got credibility; he, his staff does their homework. but like he said ‘dont take his word for it…do your homework’. get off your duff and check it out.

      Van Jones is a “9/11 Truther”? Well, at least he WANTS THE TRUTH on 9/11. While I do NOT agree with him on anything else, I DO agree that wew have been LIED to about 9/11. Anyone who has SERIOUSLY evaluates the facts would have be a “TRUTHER”. Got THAT, Glenn?       Van Jones may be a “popinjay”, but he is a very dangerous man. His “revolutionary” ideas are being taught to the next generation of citizens, an indoctrination to a socialist governance that clashes with the constitutional structure we have lived under for the past 234 years. Jones is a HUGE part of that “fundamental transformation” that Obama was espousing in his 2008 presidential campaign. This man is a true radical, as Glenn has pointed out time and time again on his radio and tv programs, and like he says ALL of the time, “Don’t believe me, do your own homework”. The internet is a powerful educational tool, and if you search the name Van Jones you will be amazed, even astounded at the amount of information on Mr. Jones. Please do the research, everybody should know what Van Jones is all about before they start allowing their children to be taught the “lessons” Jones and his ilk are pushing. Keep this country as the last, best hope for FREEDOM, not just for people from here, but from the world over as well.

That is in line with TIMOTHY MCVEIGH! He blew up the OKC Murrah Building in retalitation for WACO. All this time the radical left has been trying to paint McVeigh as a right-wing extremist. In reality, enlight of the information brought out by Glenn, MCVEIGH WAS A LEFT-WING EXTREMIST!!! His beliefs are EXACTLY those of the radical left! This needs to be brought to the attention of ALL of America!
