Hindu Ritual Drops Babies From Temple Roof Onto Cloth Sheet

This is no exhibition like that of the late Michael Jackson dangling his son “Blanket” over a ledge in 2002 for everyone to get a good look. These Hindu priests are not only dangling but they’re dropping toddlers from a temple roof.

Australia’s The Age explains that the centuries old ritual taking place in Karnataka, India, has babies between a few months and 2 years old being dropped onto a cloth sheet held by men down below. It is a practice believed to make them stronger.

This practice has come into criticism before. In 2009, the Associated Press reported a representative from an Indian activist group calling on the administration to end it. The group also noted that it shows a lack of access to acceptable healthcare, given that it “forces people to behave in this irrational manner.”

Amazingly, in the recent footage caught of the ritual, the babies aren’t even crying. They look stunned more than anything.

    This can psychologically damage children. They feel this and it could put a strain on their heats. These children will grow with a fear inside them they will not be able to understand what it is and why. These people who do this are evil and have no normal feelings for babies or innocents. These are people from hell. Psychopaths who make it up as they go.

      It’s a strange practice and to us it may look reckless, but evil? Relax, no one is throwing your kid off a roof. Any reason to crack open a beer!

      Americans throw their kids to the liberal wolves in the school system as soon as they can. This fills their heads with fear and self loathing leading us to where our country is today. I bet these kids don’t kill themselves for being bullied by their peers.

      I lived in Asia as a child and saw many customs that are strange to us. The babies are dropped with care. It is not something I would do, but I would not call these people evil. It is their custom and we need to respect that.

      Now the Malaysian women who beat her infant (another Blaze video). That is something that should never be allowed.

    This country is “conditioning” their young. In the ole’days when we oldsters were being raised, we were “conditioned” that when we became of age and went out on our own to build a life for ourselves, but felt at times we were falling (list reasons),…we knew our parents would say to us “Oh-Lay” & pull the sheet away before we hit the ground. Sounds alittle extreme to prove a point that most kids in this country are trophy kids and have that “350-Thread-Egyptian” sheet under them all the time…whether the parents or the government. Years ago, “splitting-the-sheets” meant getting a divorce. Kids now-a-days EXPECT the parents or government to provide the sheets for the rest of their lives…Thus young people like Julia & Julius…cradle to grave. Just a thought, I wonder if Binny was wrapped in a “350-Thread-Egyptian” sheet?

    How do you develop this kind of belief system? What incident could have possibly prompted this ritual?
    One must wonder why nobody has educated them as to the danger in this act?

    Remember “Shaken Baby Syndrome” from a number of years ago? Doctors (not Witchdoctors) pointed out that shaking infants and young children can cause nerve damage as the neck muscles aren’t developed enough to prevent the head from whipping around.

    Now, a child aged a couple of years is much more able to deal with this, but a 2 month old? I guess that’s where the lack of medical services comes in. When the parent realizes that their now 4 year old has some kind of brain/nerve damage and they‘re aren’t enough real doctors around, it becomes a “medical services” issue rather than an “I had my 2 month old tossed off the roof and look what happened” reality check.

      Good point but as RJJinGadsden correctly points out the intent of the report was to cast negativity towards Hindus. Don’t recall seeing a report on the orthodox Jews Bris Milah which most would find a tad strange.

      Jews? Very few left. They are not breeding or some of them are becoming liberals & Jews in name only. Where I live, they sold their largest synagogue. It would be easier to find a practicing Muslim than a practicing Jew where I live.

      So my point is why talk about something that you won’t see or is dying out.

    I tend to be a little more careful with babies because they take a lot of time and inconvenience to produce, but I’ve done this to my cat, and “they look stunned more than anything” is a very good description.
