Why Did The NFL Make YouTube Take Down Chrysler’s Clint Eastwood Super Bowl Ad?

You may have noticed that at one point this morning the video in our story on Clint Eastwood’s well-received Chrysler ad during halftime of the Super Bowl cut out. We weren’t the only ones.
Chrysler had uploaded the video of the ad on their YouTube account around the time of its airing Sunday night, but then this morning the video was removed due to a “copyright claim by NFL Properties LLC.”

Huh? Chrysler’s commercial, Chrysler’s Youtube channel, no football footage, and the NFL doesn’t own YouTube (yet). What gives?
Chrysler was equally confused, with reps telling Jalopnik that they were trying to get to the bottom of the removal and have uploaded the video elsewhere.
“In fact, we’re just surprised it even happened. In fact, riding the wave of positive Detroit stories is a good thing — we like it,” General Motors’ Marketing Chief Joel Ewanick told Jalopnik readers this morning.
The video was mysteriously back up around 11:00 a.m.
Jalopnik reports that Chrysler still doesn’t know exactly why their ad was pulled off Youtube in the first place.

Posted on February 6, 2012 at 3:32pmSounds like to me that someone at the NFL got the swelled head and told em to take it down…only problem is the NFL doesn’t run the country yet, just the football league, and they damn sure dont own chrysler…at the moment…would imagine the NFL got a call from Chrysler and reminded em they aren’t in charge nor did they pay for the commercial. You can berate chrysler, but they did pay for the commercial and NOT the NFL…lol

I guess I wasn’t the only one to hear, “It’s halftime”,
and see this as a “Give Obama a second term” commercial.
Nothing happens by accident in the advertising world, and with
Chrysler getting a bailout, I assumed they were bowing to Obama.
Throw in a Hollywood icon, and what do you have? a political statement.
To those who think I’m wrong, let me ask you this.

Posted on February 6, 2012 at 3:26pmI have always been a huge fan of Clint Eastwood, but I must confess that I am a little disappointed that he is supporting Chrysler, a company so bloated and corrupted by union greed that it should have tanked a long time ago.

Posted on February 6, 2012 at 4:44pmYes because nothing says “fair and resiliant” Like losing 1.3 billion dollars of tax payer money to auto companies (that’s you Chrysler) with bad business models, and price themselves out of the market by perpetuating extravagant benefit packages for their unionite employees (that’s you again Chrysler). So what Clint is saying is that it’s “American” to make the American people pay for a group of companies that brought themselves to banruptcy because some of their divisions can’t compete at an acceptable level. It’s half time Clint…found your mind yet?

Posted on February 6, 2012 at 6:28pmYou must watch a lot of liberal media to come up with this conclusion, both of you are such idiots. If you knew anything about the Chrysler corporation itself, you would know a lot more than this. Were the unions responsible for ChryCo’s demise? Partly, but you forget the great Daimler Benz Auto Group spent the past 8 years stripping her of anything and every thing from money to designs and engineers, and then Cerberus tried to do some more, but like Bain Capital, strip and chop some more, and there were some improvements but they were small and there really wasn’t anything left but repeats for several more years to come, and then the housing collapse which led to the collapse of Chrysler and General Motors. The two bailouts fed the leeches first, meaning the unions, and the stockholders none, then Chrysler was given to Fiat because they had a good CEO that has done some pretty good things, but Fiat now has major stock in the company so she technically isn’t owned as an American company any more (too bad, really). They installed their own management when the government bailed them out, the same way the mob does when they refinance a company in order to suck the life out of them. Thing with Chrysler is, Sergio Marchionne intends to make Chrysler a masterful company because she is capable of it, gets Fiat (not the old company that left the US back in the 70s) into the USA, and so far they are doing much better.

Posted on February 6, 2012 at 6:32pmThere is the $1.7billion that isn’t accounted for, and quite truthfully I don’t know what the deal with that is, but at the same time, GM simply borrowed other money from the government to pay for its government loans so she supposedly paid off her debt ahead of time, which I don’t believe for a second. I think right now Chrysler is actually going to be having Fiat headquarters in the USA, given Italy’s current state of disarray.

Posted on February 6, 2012 at 4:27pmWhat really struck me as odd, being from the minority-heavy Chicago, is the discernible lack of minorities in this commercial, which is supposed to feature the Motor City; Detroit, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, is roughly 83% black, yet there only had been a mere three readily-visible blacks in all the faces shown for the city, and even those few were clearly working middle class men. Detroit’s downfall is the result of ultra-liberal black Democrats holding sway there for decades, which is why the general population is so very poor (more than a third are listed below poverty level, and the median income is a whopping $20K less than the Michigan average). This is not to suggest that blacks are responsible for their own demises, other than they have bought into, wholesale, the promises of their ultra-liberal black leaders; they have lowered their guard at the color line, and become prey of that trust. It is not for no reason that Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson blames black leaders (WHO LEAD) for steering their own people off a cliff, because the black people herein have FOLLOWED, not white leaders, but their OWN leaders, yet they fail to see the causal connection. It is the same in Chicago, which has been in serious decline for decades, and in any minority-laded metropolitan area which has bought into the disastrous liberal policies of their own leaders. Check out Beck’s interview of Peterson, a leader whom blacks SHOULD follow:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqV3QimDeVA

Detroit was a model but we let it slip through our hands and started giving our economic pride to China and Russia. Their GDP in both places is greater than 9% and ours is sitting at around 1.1%. I am sick and tired of people putting down the TEA PARTY. We have no political dog in the fights of the past, but we will have one in the future. President Nobama put it in his own words, “If you are not better off in four years then you are today then make me a one term President”. Well if that is his guide then he needs to go home. I just had this same argument with someone that I call a friend and it sure seems funny that those same exact words were used by someone debating this issue. She told me that it is BUSH’S fault. Well two can play that game. I chose to say it is FDR’S fault. Actually it is both parties fault for robbing the Social Security trust fund and never paying it back. But right now it is President Barack Obama’s fault. I don’t like politicians from either side, but whoever will bring American Jobs back to America is who I will support. How about YOU? How about shovel-ready jobs? Where are they and who’s fault is that?If Detroit can be saved then do it. I don’t care who does it but somebody please do it.
