Why Does Jay Carney Think Paul Ryan‘s Budget Supporters Are ’Deliberately Ignorant’?

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney didn‘t mince words on board Air Force One today when questioned about House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan’s most recent budget proposal, unveiled yesterday. In fact, based on the Huffington Post’s reporting, Carney may think anyone supporting the plan is just plain dumb:
Carney then took his criticisms a step further: He questioned the intellectual competency of the GOP lawmakers backing the bill.
“You have to be aggressively and deliberately ignorant of the world economy not to know and understand that clean energy technologies are going to play a huge role in the 21st century,” he said. “You have to have severely diminished capacity to understand what drives economic growth in industrialized countries in this century if you do not understand that education is the key that unlocks the door to prosperity.”
“The budget proposed by Chairman Ryan and supported overwhelmingly already by Republicans suggests that those problems exist in the minds of the supporters of that plan,” Carney continued.
Because the event took place on Air Force One, video hasn’t surfaced of the event, if it exists. Neither Carney nor the White House have given detailed answers about what a “smart” alternative to Obama’s budget plan would look like.

Posted on March 21, 2012 at 8:09pmI think I have to agree with him. They are ignorant. I called my (R)Congressman & expressed my thoughts on this stupid proposal. So they want to cut $5.3 Trillion over 10yrs which will add to the debt and defecit for 10yrs & some how in years 11-28 they will balance the budget? All the while, the unfunded liabilities OR the existing debt will not be touched?!
Answer: We did not get here overnight, we will not solve it overnight; if we cut too much unemployment will go to 25%; no one can agree so this is the best they can do.
My response: REALLY! We are already bankrupt. Time is short before major chaos begins. We will have to take some real short term pain to solve this problem. The Baby Boomers (largest voting block) & Poverty Pimps (loudest activitst) will never allow cuts to mandatory spending. Look at the AARP & the Left’s adds last go around from Ryan.
A word to all of your Baby Boomers who cry foul & say I paid for my benefits. You have never fully paid for your benefits, all workers have put in to the pot. Now there are fewer workers, a larger retirement crowd, more benefits for programs than was ever intended (Medicare Part D, to just name one) and now the programs are going broke. SSI, Medicare, Medicaid, Interest , HHS & Fed govt pension funds = the entire $$ brought in to the Fed govt. Discretionary budget= 100% borrowed!!!
NO ONE (except that one crazy Republican) in Washington is willing to solve the problem. THE YOUNG ARE NOW DEBT SLAVES! T

@Trilo, Thanks for contacting your congressman, I doubt the others who didn’t read your post even took that step. We really need to get that “one Crazy Republican” into the White House so he can start educating Washington and the American people on how to move this country in the right direction.

Posted on March 21, 2012 at 8:06pmClean energy is an oxymoron. There’s nothing clean about making it. Furthermore, When you introduce something new, you don’t immediately remove the current source, because there’s a good chance it will FAIL to do what they thought it would. Libs are big dreamers, but they always FAIL to think about the consequences of their actions. They FAIL to think about the ability of the market to adjust to said new source. They FAIL to realize that just because the idea is a good one, it doesn’t mean the industry is ready to go, just because they built the plants to do it. Private owned industries are the creators and innovators, not the damn government. In that alone, the Liberals FAILED. If the private owned industries haven’t done it yet, that means they don’t have the proper means to create, utilize, and market it. GM killed the electric car for a reason back in the 80′s. And now, even with the battery unit and government backing, its still a FAILURE.
Green Energy might be the future, but so are Flying Cars. They slowly walked this country into a wall called Communism, but they can’t seem to figure out how technology works. Damn College kids, take your damn head out of the books and live life outside your dorm rooms.

Posted on March 21, 2012 at 7:48pmI understand why Carney and the White House do not like the Ryan plan. It calls for greatly reducing government spending to a responsible level (balancing the budget), as opposed to continuing to overspend and over-stimulate, and to fuel pet projects like “clean” energy solutions while stifling the production of fossil fuels available now. I understand how Ryan’s plan would not jive with his agenda. But his response, the ad hominem fallacy, is only slightly more sophisticated than the old schoolyard standard, “Oh, yeah… Well, you’re just stupid!”

HEY Carney, guess what, “We’re rubber and your glue whatever:
questionable intellectual; competency You have to be aggressively and deliberately ignorant of the world economy; You have to have severely diminished capacity
“you say just bounces off us and sticks onto you!”
Here’s a little education from the schoolyard:
If I have $1 in allowance coming this week, I find somebody dumb enough to loan me $25 for a cool solar operated frogmen toy, I get in big trouble, when I go over to Jimmy the little rich boy, who’s cutting everybodies lawns all weekend, while I play video games… screaming it’s not fair…I want justice….sock him in the stomache and grabbed his wallet, you know what they do in the schoolyard… get the teacher, principal, cops, and parents. Mr Carney that is what you think is good economic policies. And guess what, I think you all need a political spanking and to go back to elementary school for basic mathematics.

Posted on March 21, 2012 at 7:47pmI don’t think anyone is against alternate sources of energy, including House Republicans, BUT there’s a need to transition from oil to “green”, AND also a need for the private sector to fund the refinement and implementation of green alternatives. As that actress recently said: “We didn’t throw away all our candles when the light bulb was first invented”. That‘s Obama’s plan. He wants us to throw away our gas dependent cars without having a reliable replacement. That seems ignorant to me.

Posted on March 21, 2012 at 7:36pmAt this point I would think any plan would be better than no plan. It seems as if all our government officials would just as soon not have a budget to be accountable to so they can bilk more money than usual from the general funds. Considering the unnecessary expenditures already still in place & the fact that a program does not have to be officially approved to be funded, what does that suggest? A free for all, if you happen to be in a position to grant yourself money? Prejudicial distribution based on how well one treats the President? Last week I believed these people were too stupid to know how stupid they really are… This week I believe it is intentional on their parts. What I find ironic is that if they do this nation in, they inevitably do themselves in. Socialism, communism, fascism, I don’t care what you call it, does not work, has never worked & will never work because people are not a bunch of drones. Individuals must be allowed to achieve their individual goals at their own pace & utilizing their own talents in order to be truly successful. We may all be created equal, but we are not equal in equal ways & we never will be. Each of us has different strengths & weaknesses, some people will always work harder than others & we must be allowed to strive as individuals with individual gains or else we lose all sense of our own identities. Our government officials are corrupt, but our way of government is not.
