Why Is a Hangin’ Truck Driving Around NYC With President Obama On a Noose?

After two decades of living and working in Manhattan, this average New Yorker believed he had seen everything. Today proved that to be a false assumption.
Walking out of the Blaze headquarters on 6th Avenue in Midtown, I encountered this very strange vehicle driving up the street.
The flatbed trailer being pulled by the pickup truck appears to have eight bodies hanging in effigy. Of course my eye was drawn to the body in the center of the display and the sign with a Presidential Seal (of sorts) and the name President Obama.
Carrying only a smartphone camera, I clicked as many photos as I could before the truck drove out of sight. This one offered clues that would eventually explain more about the purpose of this bizarre display.
On the back of the “Hanging Truck” one of the signs reads:
Obama Is Onboard, Find Out Why. Visit YouTube.com And Search Keyword PatriotPhipps
Wait a minute. Someone is driving around Manhattan with the President hanging in effigy on a truck? Why? The YouTube search proved fruitful (if not more bizarre than the scene above).
Apparently the truck belongs to someone named VR Phipps from North Carolina. Mr Phipps believes that some of his family members were murdered by local law enforcement and a massive cover-up has successfully prevented him from getting justice. So, Phipps did something very bizarre… he built a gallows in his backyard and also constructed a hanging truck. In the early version (pictured below) VR only had six people dangling. The current version seen today has a judge, a highway patrolman, former Attorney General, the current Governor of North Carolina, a chief counsel, and a county sheriff.
Mr. Phipps phone number has been covered up as a courtesy. We have called Phipps in hopes of getting further clarification of his story. As of this writing, he has not returned our calls. However, we do have a couple of YouTube videos from Phipps explaining some of his issues with law enforcement and “Goverment.”
First – “President Obama Visits The Hanging Truck”
The President also was treated to a close-up visit to the Phipps Gallows.
Mr Phipps also has a blog that presents his case to the public. But, the public may not be that interested in his story as the blog site and YouTube videos have notched less than 500 clicks each.
Considering that the Phipps hanging truck was now spotlighting President Obama, the Secret Service headquarters in Brooklyn was contacted by The Blaze. Agents on duty told us that they were aware of the truck and the gentleman driving it. They thanked us for the call and assured us that they were “on it.”
We will update as details become available.

In abject frustration he has built these “gallows” in his attempt to call attention to his plight. When having it in NC didn’t have an impact he hit the road and made it all the way to NYC. Would I do less if my child had been murdered? I would love to see the investigative journalists at the Blaze look deeply into the story. It would do one of 2 things…show the family where they are wrong and put their hearts to rest or bring justice to their door. Please consider it.

Hmmm… a member (or members) of The Blaze felt it was their duty to not only report the news about this guys first amendment right of free speech (and expression there of) but they also felt compelled to call the Secret Service? With what threat? Did The Blaze report this incident before or after they researched and wrote their story? I’m sure they at least reported this character before posting the story… right?

Though this may be against the law, since when does that make it mandatory for every citizen or news organization to report it to the authorities? And why call the SS rather than the police and let them deal with it?
The call was made for 1 of 2 reasons, either GB & his team thought they’d take heat from the leftwing media for reporting ON it, but not reporting it TO the authorities…which means they caved. Or they thought by reporting it they could get extra mileage from the story by reporting on the aftermath of the SS getting involved…which means they’ve thrown away their scruples in favor of sensationalizing the story like a yellow tabloid.

I agree with the Blaze for contacting the Secret Service regarding this display. The picture clearly shows what appears to be the President of the United States being hung on a noose. To me this doesn’t matter if it is Obama, Bush, or Washington. This man is our leader and while we may 100% disagree with him, we shouldn’t turn our heads at the appearance of killing him.
Was the guy’s display harmless, yes. Is he likely to actually try to kill the President, no. But Secret Service has to investigate or they aren’t doing their job. Some people are claiming this is free speech at work, but the fact is we don’t have 100% free speech, we have freedom of reasonable speech. You can’t yell fire in a theater and expect not be contacted by the police, or threaten someone and not expect som sort of repercussion.
The secret service has to investigate and such until they are sure there is no actual true threat to the president. This is the same thing as the Ted Nugent situation, he made what could be construed as a threat, so the service interviewed and after the interview realized their was no real threat and so investigation dropped. And that what should and probably will happen here.
Our only threat to the President should be threatening to get him kicked from office.
Lets keep it classy and get him out with honesty and humility.

It was very creepy looking with the body’s swaying as he drove past.

Perhaps he feels he has nothing to lose because he figures if they killed his brother they could kill him, but this way if he really is in danger and he turns up dead or missing it will give more credibility to his claims and perhaps lead to an investigation.

I’ve always had concerns about that. After this story, I’m pretty convinced the Blaze would just hand over ALL their records and backups to the government if they were asked or demanded. What is really disgusting about this is that the man is just using his freedom of speech, not making threats. And it did not involve the Blaze in anyway…but they still decided to turn him in to the Secret Service.

The end result will be sort of like what happened when Bush didn‘t purge Clinton’s political appointees when he was elected (something that routinely happens with each presidential election).
