‘Why the Hell Did I Call on You?‘ Fiery Christie Responds to Accusation of ’Planting Questions’

Last week, it was NJ Gov. Chris Christie asking Obama, “What the hell are we paying you for?” This week, it was him asking a constituent “Why the hell did I call on you?”

The latter came after a man accused Christie of “planting questions” at a town hall meeting that occurred in March. Mediaite explains the accusation:

“Do you or your staff ever plant questions at a town hall meeting?” After answering “no” and that he “barely remember[ed] being in Nutley,” the town in which the man asking claimed the planting occurred, he asked how the man got to an “understanding” that questions were planted. “I was sitting next to a woman who said she was a friend of yours,” the man explained, a woman named Candy who claimed to be a friend of the governor’s.

Christie wasn’t having any of it.

“You really, in front of this group, with all the problems we have in this state– you’re wasting these people times with a question on whether we plant questions in the audience?”

Then came the money quote: “If I planted the question, why the hell did I call on you?”

You can watch it all below (courtesy of the Star-Ledger), including Christie’s warning before the Q&A that is almost as good as the exchange:

Governor Christie is a typical elitist who ignores the electorate for his own agenda.

He got caught in a deception and instead of apologizing he obfuscates. Instead of answering the question he attacks the questioner.

    A one term wunderkind.

really. you have no clue and see with liberal blinders on…as the governor said…why would he ask him a question if the questions were planted….Wake up…take the blinders off and watch again….maybe you will see the light….if not your blindness will lead you to darkness and if we are not careful your ilk will bring us all down.

And yet again we’re treated to the myopic vision of MaryBethElizabeth.
“On what planet do you spend most of your time?” – That could be a comment directed at her, but instead it’s soon-to-be former (thank God) Senator Barney Frank confronting one of his constituents at a townhall meeting in Dartmouth, MA in 2009.
Why is it “attacking the questioner” when Christie takes someone on, but not when ol’ Barney goes on the attack?

When people make comments that a person is this or that (elitist in this example) it would really be instructive to the rest of us if they would include an explanation or example so that we can see the frame of reference from the poster. In the absence of an intelligent explanation for the assertion that Christie is an “elitist” I would have to guess that either you are one of the people we “spread the money around” to or that you belong to the teachers or other public employee union. I think that Christie is much more of an “everyman” who is attempting to do what is right for the majority of New Jersey residents. He is not a far right small government conservative, but is a guy who understands arithmetic and works to fix the imbalance that was left by Corzine. I am interested to know why you make the elitist comment and where you feel you were wronged by Christie’s policies. By the way he did very directly answer the question several times.

He answered the question!!! Several times. The answer was NO!!! Look, I realize that liberals now a days believe that if they get something in their head it HAS to be correct. But, just because that man ASSUMED that because the person may or may not have been friends of the Govenor that meant the question was a plant doesn’t make him RIGHT!!! If Christie were planting questions then this particular question wouldn’t ever have seen the light of day, nor would the MANY anti-Christie questions that I’ve seen time and time again on this website ever have been asked. You liberals all want to accuse the right of the very things that the left is the most guilty of themselves. You want someone to answer for planted questions how about you take your anger to the WHITE HOUSE because I’ve never seen so many planted questions than in ANY so-called “Town Hall Mtg’s“ with the ”LIAR in Chief.” Get a clue!!!

True the guy should have come armed to the nines if he wanted to accuse the Governer of deceptive practise! He’s obviously not very smart which leads me to believe he thought he was asking a question which he would have liked an answer to, without being torpedoed! However misguided he was, Mr. Christie, who is holding PUBLIC office, must be respectful of the PEOPLE of his state. Grandpa was shaking in his boots! We may have seen the bully in Mr. Christie on this one.

The progressives will always tell you exactly who they are by accusing you of being exactly what they are. I don’t believe Christie flies around the world on vacation only occasionally interrupted by campaign stops and 50 thousand dollar a plate dinners, (a certain Arabic-named fellow comes to mind here). Better look at who your master is and the multimillionaires who surround him. You obviously hate the middle class, hate the People of this country and would like nothing better than to subjugate the working people for the sake of your naked pursuit of power.

Who says he got caught in a deception? Christie said he doesn’t plant questions, and the guy said he overheard something by somebody who claimed to be a friend of the governor. That’s hardly proof of anything. And eve if question are or were planted? Who cares? What does it matter? Obviously the governor is not loading up his town hall meetings with his supporters like Obama does. Have you ever heard anybody at an Obama speech ask him a tough question? He speaks in front of so many plants he might as well be giving his speeches in greenhouses! I hate this game where democrats get to do whatever the heck they want no questions asked and republicans are held up to some phony standard that apparently doesn’t exist. I applaud Christie, who I’m no big fan of, for calling this guy’s question what it was–a waste of time.

The Gov made his point beautifully by drawing on the obvious, and that is by calling on the moron who was wasting everyone’s time on something really, really stupid. As for not answering his question, he answered it several times. As for “attacking” him, it wasn’t an attack it was a response to a truly stupid accusation.

I am sorry Bachmann will not get his nod..but he is using the media just like the left to promote Bachmann…who is wonderful..but not wonderful enough to handle Obama. He actually thinks Newt would talk us to a communistic state cause he likes a certain ex president for a few things he did. Now who is controlling the media.

Totally agree! I like Newt, I don’t know if I will vote for him, but have been taken aback lately by Glenn. First, he seemed all “ in love” with Perry. I guess since he lives in TX now he had to back the guy. I live in TX and I do not back him. Now he is all up in Bachman’s grill. Listen, I like what she has to say on a lot of things buts she comes across really caddy.( I am a female so I can say that ; ) ) I believe Glenn has changed since leaving Fox. I still listen to what he says but I have to bypass the BS now to get to the heart of the matter. We all should concentrate on just getting Obama out and support whoever that may be.

Newt is as much of a RINO as you can get. You need to educate yourself. Newt is definitely wrong for the country. I always vote straight Republican but if Newt wins the primary he will not get my vote. I’d rather have an idiot like Obama in there that is contained by a Republican House and Senate than to have Newt in there.

@Treaty, trust me I do educate myself. I know a lot about each candidate. Everyone of them have great qualities and everyone of them have cringe worthy points. There is not going to be the perfect candidate. I wish there was but I am not delusional to believe there ever will be someone who is honest, trustworthy, “non-policitian”, educated, american loving. Its just not going to happen. You have to vote for who YOU believe will do the best job. I haven’t figured it out yet. I like Newt, Paul, Cain, and maybe a few others. Yes its all over the board but I am listening to everything they say. Newt has issues just like everyone else. But he is a lot better than Obama. You are delusional if you think Obama is better. Wake up and look around you. If your guy doesn’t get the vote are you willing to back Obama for another 4 years. If that is the case then you are the reason Obama will win again.

He is called Dr. No as he says no to every Unconstitutional piece of legislation that is put up by Progressives on both sides. He is, and always has been a defender of Individual Liberty and the Constitution. There are myths told about Paul that Progressives throw out to try and discredit him. It’s only a matter of time before Beck supports Ron Paul! How can you espouse the constitution repeatedly on your show and call Ron Paul the closest thing to a founding father and then run from him as if he were the devil?

Just because Ron doesn’t believe in giving aid to Israel – allowing Israel to make it’s own choices without strings attached from the USA? That makes Ron an anti Semite? Really?!? That’s news to me.

Anyway the choice is so clear to me – as it was in the last election when I voted fro Ron Paul – I will vote for Ron Paul again this election. I don’t have to hold my nose when voting for him.

There is only one candidate that has it all–Washington outsider, Private Sector Expertise, Personal Moral Character, Government Experience, Leadership Experience, World-Wide Experience–Shall I continue? That’s Mitt Romney. They all have strengths and weaknesses, they all have flip-flopped–yes even Ron Paul–they all would be better than Obummer. But, only Romney has the ability to pull in the moderate, undecided and disaffected democratic votes. They will be the ones to elect the new president. All of the other candidates are at a deficit in that regard. Romney has the most important skill of all, most needed at this time–tremendous business expertise and experience that will be needed to get this country working again. He has proven himself in government and in business to be able to do this. No one else has. He has not shamed himself in his personal life so we don’t have to be ashamed of him as president. Maybe he is not as far right as many would like. So be it. He is also not as far left as many say he is. Look at his record. He has consistently trended more conservative as time goes on, not back and forth, but steadily toward the right. I have observed him for some time and am determined he will be the one to save this country right now. Don’t be fooled by the flavor of the month. Consider the whole man and not just the soundbite!

Washington didn’t want to be President, but the new nation needed him and he stepped up to the plate. Christie is refusing to step up when Americans need a leader more than ever. The Obama/ International Left Media Machine is on a march to destroy their opposition: Republicans, conservatives, capitalism, city budgets, national budgets, America as we’ve known it. They are organized, scripted, all-present, and well funded. Will take a response , of equal caliber, to beat the Far Left current Democrats, the Party of the SEIU Mobs, in 2012. And, of course, the Democrats will – following Saul Alinsky’s campaign design – hold the Republicans to higher standards than Democrats must adhere to just because Republicans are Republicans ! Fasten your seat belts, it will be a very bumpy ride. Hope Republican candidates fare better than Palin and Cain . The Democrats are out to assassinate – the characters of all potential Republican candidates with the usual dirty political tactics which seem to be “occupying” the Democrat’s 2012 campaign playbook. The Democrats call it “change.”

Our list of governors includes George B. McClelland, Jim Florio, Jim McGreavy and now potential prisoner Jon Corzine. There were a lot of governors in between and things looked promising in the beginning. The first four governors were Federalists followed by members of the Democratic/Republican parties? I guess they wanted to please everybody belonging to a party like that. Anywho, this is a boring post so I’ll leave t at that.
