Why Twitter May Be One of the #ThingsToureThinksAreRacist

Following MSNBC commentator Toure’s failed attempt to express his outrage at GOP Presidential nominee‘s Mitt Romney’s alleged racism, two reactions have been emerging from Romney’s supporters. First, there was the immediate (and arguably justified) repulsion and outrage that Toure accused Romney of “ni**erization,” a term that would offend most people simply by being uttered. Second, and more entertainingly, conservatives on Twitter have turned Toure’s ludicrously low standards for racist discourse into an object of brutal mockery using the hashtag #ThingsToureThinksAreRacist.

What’s included in that category, according to these jokesters? Practically everything. See below:

And as a hat tip to the place we found most of these lovely Tweets…

So given that he’s been the object of utter obloquy from practically all of Twitter, this raises a single, vital question – does Toure think Twitter is racist? No comment has yet been made from the man himself.

UPDATE: The Romney campaign is apparently “discussing” Toure’s original remarks with the MSNBC top brass. Obviously, they are not happy. Could this end up costing Toure his job?

I find the a priori premise “most people” would find “n!&&erization“ ”offensive just by being uttered” RACIST. Indeed THE most RACIST, Bigoted and Offensive aspect of the whole issue!
As long as “the ‘n’ word”, in whatever form, is used in ANY way by ANY one in the misnomered “Black’community”–Whoopi Goldberg, Chris Rock, Jesse Jackasson, and Van Jones to name a few, it is a LEGITIMATE term for ANYONE to use. To say otherwise is to make a RACIST statement. If Whoopi can use it as a “term of endearment” and Jones and Jackson as synonymous with “‘Black’ People” then I can use it like Chris Rock channeling MLK Jr and use it as a Description of CHARACTER. Your other choice is to insist NO one use it EVER and hold the “Black” Community accountable for STAMPING IT OUT! Until then a cogent case can be made that “n!&&erize”, and
“n!&&erization” are semantically accurate usages for very specific socio-cultural phenomenon.
Flash Mobs and Violence in Sport are two examples among many. Sarena Williams “n!&&erized” the Olympic Games with her Prison Gang Recognition Symbol at Wimbleton. Tiger Woods “n!&&erized” Golf when he got his big black driver off CHOKING NordiChicks.
To extend the 20th Century’s Greatest Philosopher “n!&&er“ IS as ”n!&&er” DOES.
To refuse to accurately name the behavior is to “mitigate” in Gladwell’s phrase, and, in the end, to EXCUSE!
KILL it OFF or USE it ACCURATELY but to HELL with it being “priviledged” by RACE. Tha

I agree. The “N” word is a term of character, just like the term biotch. I‘ve seen white people I’d use the “N” word on. It’s that mentality of anger, entitlement, free ride, everyone owes me way of thinking.

He is a hate filled man. One really has to pity people like him. His life is over. He can’t do a real job. He can’t create anything real. He is just a soft version of the new black panthers. These people are lost. Think of the fact that when they are old and senile, the people they hate will be paying for their care.

    “red WHITE and blue”?

    “white lie”

Obviously our entire language and vernacular is racist and must now be banned.

Toure’—-wait. “Toure’“ and ”white” are both five letter words.

    Coincidence?

Toure thinks that a business thats running in the black is racist, and it has to stop! Don’t worry NoBama will take care of that starting in 2013. Toure thinks that the word N/e/g/r/o/ is racist. I had to use forward slants because Blaze thinks the word is racist. Go figure.

Toure is an idiot; and no one would know he even exists without Twitter! As for calling a simple disagreement with the President his “niggerization”…That’s just plain ignorant. MSNBC needs to find some real journalists…even SE Cupp wasn’t smart enough to remind Toure that it was the Democrats who enslaved the black race; and the Republicans who set them free…Abe Lincoln
