Why Won’t Glenn Beck Wear a Bowtie on TV, and Can It Save America?

On his Monday show tonight, Glenn Beck discussed the importance of cultural institutions like music and art in the fostering of a more pro-liberty, pro-American culture. Beck framed his segment as a follow-up to a previous monologue by guest host Dana Loesch on TheBlazeTV discussing how politics is “downstream from pop culture.”

“I‘m pretty sure that’s why Dana wears leather pants,” Beck said jokingly, implying that Loesch’s decision to dress more provocatively and with a more “cool” edge made her more likely to get attention. Beck also mentioned that this was the same reason he would wear jeans on his show, and might wear a bowtie off-camera, but never while on TV.

“That’s what everybody expects,” Beck said, implying that the stereotype of the bowtie-wearing conservative works to stop people from listening to conservative messaging. Fortunately, as you’ll see in the segment below, the soundtrack for “Restoring Love” looks like it will be avoiding that pitfall:

Do they really think the playlist for restoring love is cool? It sucks, it is all down beat slow and depressing, the lyrics might be inspirational, but I can’t get into the lyrics if the music is so horribly sucky.

That is why I pierced my nipples and stop bathing. You know to be more hip so I could get my message across.

This is a very stupid premise. I agree that we must engage the culture, but we do not need to be part of the culture to do this. We offer an alternative.

A few years back, while working retail for a store that had a dress code that require “a tie of standard dimensions,” I took to wearing them because it both followed the rules and set me apart from all the others. I still wear them because I like them. If it makes me look “old-fashioned” to some, it makes me look “cool” to others. Like any fashion statement, the interpretation is pretty much up to the beholder.

    Ties are dangerous!

Obama, Biden and Beck were flying along the Hudson River in a helicopter. After a few drinks everybody started feeling good. Biden opens the door and throws a dollar out and says “I’ve made someone in America happy.” Obama steps to the door and throws out 10 one-dollar bills and says “I’ve made 10 people in America happy.” Beck grabs Obama by the tie and flips him out the door and says ‘I’ve made EVERYBODY in America happy.”

Funny how a man can even be faulted for the clothes he wears. I always thought we have freedom of choice and when that is taken away then what do we have left but to be come slaves to our government. I remember the days when I wore a bow-tie it is fun to for a change. No one made fun of me in fact they would ask how to tie a bow-tie with which I said the same as your shoelaces. If we do not have the freedom to made decisions ourselves how are we to learn about ourselves? It is a sad day when all we can do in our lives is try to find fault with someone else instead of trying to understand that person and at the same time learn more about ourselves and how to be better humans-beings.

Outside George Will does anyone of any political stripe wear bow-ties? And Glenn Beck wears jeans? Since when? Nice try being a regular person.

Glenn says, “financially I don’t care.” Yeah, sure. Then why say it? Especially given that you profit from all of these events.

Glenn is making money. Good for him. But folks, if you think his goal is to save the world (while making millions in the process), you’re naive and gullible.

Jesus didn’t gain a fortune teaching the Word, nor Gandhi teaching nonviolence, nor Martin Luther King teaching the equality of the races. In contrast, Beck is making a huge fortune preaching his version of Christianity, and if you think that‘s not his primary motivation you’re blinded.

Note: when somebody is making a fortune, millions and millions, off the claim that they are the Word, and can see a little beyond what you can, and have the answers to all your questions, then you are worshiping a false God.

Sorry @JZS, but Glenn has been wearing jeans and sneaks (strange old fashioned ones. . . ), since, I believe, his CNN days–he was always behind a desk there, hard to tell. But definitely on FOX, and definitely many, many days on GBTV!

He likes to wear a sport jacket, but when the camera takes a full shot, there are often jeans below. Everyone knows they are a favorite.

      Do you watch Glenn?

First of all…why are you naysayers here? Secondly it’s GLENN not GLEN; then one of you boob-heads said that Beck doesn’t care about people..he’s just making money. uh huh. You’re all nothing but ungrateful swine, paid by Soros probably, trying to discredit the one man who SAVED us from sure ruin in 2009.. He showed us that there are 75% of us vs. 21% OF YOU liberal bean heads..you used to have the MSM with you, but I think your Traitor-in-Chief has managed to turn them away too. Beck has done more in 5 years to help more people, give out more $, inspire more people that all of you + several thousand will do in their life times. Sad widdle trollies.
In other words, you can’t hold a candle to him, his wife, their show, their group…nothing. I‘m sure he’ll hear a WELL DONE from our LORD. :) Crawl on away now, back to your dark holes of hatred…you’re not welcomed here…besides, every time you come on, he makes $$$$ :)))))))

**Sigh** Come on, Blaze. I mean Glenn is great and we all know he pays for this whole thing but really? The top 3 headlines are stuff from his latest monologue a few hours ago? If The Blaze wants to sway more people to our side, we would do best to steer away from the Beck worshipping. I will repeat- I KNOW he is paying for this, but those who are fans of his already are (myself included) so you are preaching to the choir. But maybe try toning down posts about his daily monologue to just one? We are trying (or at least I thought) to sway the middle-of-the-road folks, here. Bring on the hate posts. Sorry guys, but unfortunately we won’t win this election by appealing to our side. We MUST sway the undecided!

The music will persuade the masses. It has in the past and it can in the future. Beautiful meaningful cultural art and music can persuade the soul to do good, to seek peace and love. To vote for a brighter future. To vote for a President with honor and integrity. Good attracts good. It allows a good presence that opens up to brightness. It is how the tone in our home is set.

Your assessment is incorrect. Glenn believes he is The Messiah, not a demi-god. In fact, I’ve established the Over/Under for his public announcement of this revelation as April 15, 2014. I have officially taken the Under.

bwahaha, way to make an unprovable (and therefore unarguable) statement.

“Glenn Beck thinks he’s a demi-god [or Messiah, or whatever]” — Ok, prove it, when has he claimed anything close to this? Where do you see that from? Is it simply because he is presenting what he believes and presenting it as the truth? Because I’m pretty sure that you did the same thing with your statements.

Or as JZS claims: “Glenn is obviously in it for the money, he doesn’t care about the country” — Well that’s pretty naive. So he’s making a lot of money and is successful. Or (shocker!!) he’s allowing companies to actually advertise on his radio show. Logically that has no interaction with his concern for the country. You cannot link the two rationally. A person isn‘t automatically evil because he’s financially successful.

These kinds of statements are akin to this exchange:

      “How do you know she’s a w i t c h?”
      “She looks like one!”…
“Did you dress her up like this?”
“No, no….no. Yes. Yes, yes, a bit, a bit”
      “She has got a wart.”
      “What makes you think she’s a w i t c h?”
“Well, she turned me into a newt.”
      “A newt?”
      “I got better.”

crzyredhead quotes me: “Glenn Beck thinks he’s a demi-god [or Messiah, or whatever]”

Crazy, I didn’t say that. Liar. Now, if you reply to a statement I actually made, rather than reply to one you wish I made, then I might respond. Otherwise there’s no possibility of dialogue is there? That kind of conversation is schizo. No thanks.
