Why You Might Want to Delete Your Google Browser History Before Next Week

As of March 1, Google’s new, “shorter and easier to read” privacy policy will go into effect. At that time, the search giant that also includes products such as YouTube, Gmail and Calendar will begin “[treating] you as a single user across all [of its] products.” An example provided by the company is letting you know you’re late for a meeting based on your location and calendar schedule.

So, what is there to do if you want Google to hold a little less personal information about you? The Daily Mail suggests a good starting step is to delete your browser history. It even offers the steps on how to do so:

1. Go to the Google homepage and sign into your account. Use the dropdown menu under your name in the upper right-hand corner to access your settings. Click on “account settings”, like below.

2. Next, find the section called “Services” and you’ll see a link to “View, enable, or disable web history”, shown in the red box below. Click on it.

3. Finally, you can remove all of your search details by clicking on “Remove Web History”, shown in the red box below. Once you have done this your history will remain  disabled until you turn it back on.

The Daily Mail notes that while clearing your browsing history won’t prevent Google from storing this info for its own purposes, it will at least become anonymous.

Google announced in January that it would be reducing its more than 60 privacy policies into one cohesive message. With this new policy, if you are logged into Google, the company may be able to collect your information from one service to another, recognizing preferences and making connections across its platforms. If you think not logging into Google will prevent tracking, the Daily Mail points out that the company will just track you by IP address. While Google says that this updated policy doesn’t deviate from its core principals.

I was wondering the same thing. I have an Android phone. All my accounts are linked to the phone. I do have it rooted and froze quite a few programs. However, I think no matter what you do you can not avoid being traced. When it gets to the point where being traced could threaten my life or freedom, then I’ll simply trash the phone and use one of my very old 1X Motorola V60S flip phone. E911 off, GPS, off and phone only on for emergency. I know there is no 100% way not to be traced or tracked. Changing VPN’s and other things can be done. But when the time comes, then I’ll do that…just not quite there yet.

OMG, people like you never cease to amaze me. It is none of ANYONE’S business what places you visit, nor to follow your movements. That is the kind of insanity that East Germany used to try to do.

Your personal property and information are just that…YOURS, and it is a mentality like yours that claims private property is somehow “public space” that is based on left wing insanity.

You lefties justify even the government to search you for any reason they please with ZERO probable cause, which is exactly the opposite of what the 4th amendment was intended to not allow.

Your computer/phone is part of your “papers and effects”, and allowing anyone to access it without your specific consent is a recipe for disaster…unless you love Big Brother…which given your leanings seems quite obvious.

You would have been quite the model citizen…of East Germany.

@ Rose Ellen. “google is not the government”
After these revised policies, Google will be 2 steps away from being the government.
Step 1. A crisis or an emergency will force the government to utilize what information Google has collected (which they will comply).
Step 2. Google is “too big to fail” (after the internet gets restricted – I mean “Regulated” by the government) and gets bought, or rather, “bailed out”.
The pattern keeps repeating, yet some refuse to see it.

No…. those are google add-ons. Like google desktop and google toolbar. If you use google for web searches or e-mail they will save what you are doing and sell that information. You have to stop using google altogether to get rid of google.
But, it’s good that you uninstalled the google add-ons.

If you have an Android phone, you already have no privacy. Ever read those terms of service you agree to when you install almost any app out there? Essentially you’re giving multiple companies (not just google) the right to monitor every single thing that you do with that Android phone. I fully expect that these privacy policy changes won‘t just affect Google’s desktop platforms, but anything you do with that Droid will be tied in to your desktop/laptop histories as well.

Google’s motto used to be: “Don’t be evil.”

      1) write a nasty email to every Google advertiser that pops up. Tell them you will never buy their goods and services.
      2) get several Google Mail accounts. Switch around so they can’t combine the data.
      3) give Google email addresses to every site that generates tons of junk email.
      4) remember to change your age and sex frequently. It makes the marketing data worthless.
      5) Google can’t charge much for your information if you are a male, 85+, income less than $5,000.
      6) Google advertisers get charged when you click on them. Click on things you would never purchase. Click to several pages in the site to waste their advertising dollars.
      7) Write emails to yourself using words such as: ‘illegal immigrant’, ‘outbreak’, ‘drill’, ‘strain’, ‘virus’, ‘recovery’, ‘deaths’, ‘collapse’, ‘human to animal’ and ‘trojan’, The NSA and DHS will go crazy.

I use and will always suggest Opera as a browser with the “Ghostery” extension installed, it blocks 3rd party tracking cookies, heck, it blocked 13 on this page alone. It’s fast as firefox, fully customizable, and free of course.
I also use ixquick.com as a search page, they also have one that is called http://www.startpage.com and it utilizes the google web-crawlers, but it removes any trackers, it is as safe as can be.
I haven’t used duckduckgo, it just sounded goofy, but it maybe worth a shot, give a look at startpage.com too though.
I do find it funny that both google and facebook have cookies that are blocked w/ Ghostery on this site. The blaze seems very spot-on about the evils of google, but then allows them on their site, that just seems a little bass-ackwards.

There is no such thing as private information -once it has been-posted on a public bulletin board.Everything on a public bulletin board is public.free people can do whatever they want with that public information-including compiling information.if someone has forced you to post on a public bulletin board then you might sue to have that information expunged.but to pass laws that individuals or companies can’t do what they want with information freely posted on a public buletin board is an arbitrary and capricious atttempt to curtail peoples freedom-their right to check and compile information from a legal public bulletin board.if i want to compile information on everyone who walks down a public street i am free to do so as long as i don’t break a law. This of course is different from a government agency compiling information as that would create a police state where individuals feel less free knowing the gov’t- which has powers over the individual [the power to arrest you and deprive you of your freedom] makes a person feel intimidated about saying or doing things they otherwise[if the government were not compiling information on them] would feel was part of being free.as long as google is not government i don‘t have a problem with them tracking what i’ve chosen to post on this public bulletin board. There is no inherent right to privacy-there is the right to due process, private property [information is not property-i believe].

Aren’t the founders of Google all Jewish? I wonder if that fact might influence some of what many call an anti-Christian bias in the company. Along the lines of privacy and security here are a few more facts people given to thought may want to consider.

Carl Levin: Head of Senate Armed Services Committee. Coauthor and sponsor of the NDAA 1687 civilian detainment law just recently passed.

Michael Chertoff: United States Secretary of Homeland Security co-author of the USA PATRIOT Act and founder of the Chertoff Group which represents manufacturers of the H.S. scanners.

Joe Liberman: Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee.

Diane Fienstien: Head of Senate Intelligence committee.

Daniel Benjiman: Head of Counter Terrorism.

      Leon Panetta: Sec of Defense.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz: Head of DNC

I wonder if all these positions were held by any other ethnic group would it raise anyone’s suspicions?

I’m sure there are plenty of top positions held by Christians so what does that prove? It is funny and scary that o many people are focused on some non-existent Jewish conspiracy and ignoring the communists, socialist, fascists, Sharia law supporters in this administration! But this is perfect for the “evil one”, just divert attention from the true evil seeping into our society and place it on the Jews. That is killing two birds with one stone for him! I wish people would wake up and allow themselves to see evil for what it is. The evil one is the master of deception!

Listen I’m an American. I’m bound by the US Constitution and I stand for America. If you want to stand for a foreign nation which I actually consider to be a terrorist nation then you’d should consider packing up and moving to the nation that you intend to stand with. We have no dual allegiances here in America. Get out if your allegiance is with Israel.

For me I fear Jewish power in America. I know their history and I know their plans for the future. It’s up to American Patriots to wake up and take a stand for the US Constitution. Right AGGIEBREWER! I have heard this same crap from several people just trying to find some Jewish conspiracy in government and Hollywood.

I’m sorry but did I state a conspiracy or did I state facts? As an Engineer I tend to deal with facts and facts alone. If you don‘t appreicate those facts then that’s your problem but to deny them is lunacy.

Is Google run by Jews? Is practically the entire US Intelligence and HS apparatus in the hands of Jews? Please don’t hate me for telling you the truth.

Remember krypt, your people were on top in Germany in the early 20th century as well… They thought that there would be no end to their power and influence until the Nation awakened. I believe one voice in the right position can awaken America to the implications of this dastardly wicked parasitic domestic enemy. One voice! I’m sure the good Lord will eventually give us one voice to combat this eternal evil… God is good and just! Evil will not go unpunished forever.

You see Tech, for most people here their first allegiances are to doing what’s right and truthful. Your saying that there can be no duel allegiances sounds very medieval to me. You make it sound as though if someone is an American they‘re somehow more important and more deserving of your respect than someone who isn’t. It almost sounds as if you’d consider sending humanitarian relief to Japan to be an un-American act. Most people who support Israel aren’t swearing loyalty to the Israeli government (as you seem to imply), but rather they merely express there support for the Israelis and their struggle to live their lives while under constant attack. I, while supporting Israel, also support humanitarian relief to the Palestinians who are persecuted under Hamas’ rule even though I despise Hamas.

You claim to be anti-Communist, but of all the commentators on this site you’re the one who treats people collectively the most. Some Jews are Marxists so they all must be evil. Many blacks are criminals so they all must be evil. Most decent people judge people as individuals. You don’t.

Well, Tech, I am not a Jew, but I do serve the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob — unashamedly. I am grafted into the Jewish vine — a concept you don’t understand since you are not a Christian, although for a while you pretended to be, just like Obama. I will serve the King of kings when He reigns from Jerusalem in future, and I love Yahweh’s people, not mine.

It is you who always obfuscates. We’ve talked about this before. Marx was an apostate Jew. Soros and his gang are apostate Jews. You, in turn, are an Islamist who wants to see Israel wiped off the map and all Jews removed from the face of the Earth; but you and your ilk are a speck of dust in God’s hand. We can see right through your taqiyya, Tech.

You claim to speak facts. Okay then. Let’s say that those who created google are Jewish. That’s a fact. Now what’s your point? So what? You both insinuate that because they‘re Jewish they’re part of a conspiracy that you can’t prove exists. That’s not fact. You also go on to insinuate that all Jews are part of this conspiracy. Not fact either. In FACT, you two seem to use a lot of circular logic to argue your point and then use convenient examples as proof:
Jews are evil because they’re part of a conspiracy.
Jews are part of a conspiracy because they’re evil.

You claim to speak facts. Okay then. Let’s say that those who created google are Jewish.

First of all they are Jewish whether you want to say it or not. Whether it’s Google, Facebook, Wikepedia, Microsoft, Disney, Yaho, My Space, or even Ebay to a lesser extent. Whether it’s the Patriot Act, NDAA, or Dept. Homeland Security…

All Jews. Knowing a little history I know what role Jews played in the former Soviet NKVD and their Gulag systems and I’m very concerned over what I see transpiring here in America. Not only that I’m also concerned about favoritism resulting from their connections to the Federal Reserve system since it too is entirely Jewish with the exception of a Governor or two.

Ok the next step is conspiracy. Above is fact but yes I will go a step further and enter into the conspiracy area where I believe Jews do have bad intentions for America. Actually they have already transferred America into an entirely Marxist state. Why don’t we quit pretending here tzion. Your tribe has already destroyed America.. It‘s no future act and it’s no Conspiracy.. It has already happened.

Now I just want my fellow American to wake up to this fact and maybe we will be a prevent another massacre like was perpetrated upon the Russian Christian poplulace. Surely you share my concerns don’t you tzion?

The problem with isael is they want to live in peace in illigally seized land and occupy people till they agree to allow them their illigally seized land. All arabs would accept a 67border israel though initially they fought against that as it was rightfully perceived as an ethnic cleansing of them.Ther concession now is a 67 original 1948border israel.israel refuses to do that and wants to see arab palestinians disappear into other arab lands so they can rewrite jistory and say that there were never arabs in what is now israel.they are racist as they could have peace if they woul allow the displaced arabs back into israel but israel insists on a jewish majority state. That is patently racist .And refusing to go legal and return to the 67borders exposes their stubborness and idishonesty is claiming they want peace. They want peace while in other peoples homes.

It’s illigal to aquire more terrirory as a result of war. This isn’t the 19th c.israel and the right wing american gulls hang their hat on their belief that the arabs would never accept a 67border israel.Though all arabs including hamas have said they now would. They put the cart before the horse projecting into the future and deligitimizing the claims of arabs as a rationale for continued occupation and illigally holding on to land seized in war.that is an evil thing to do as the occupied arabs are betwween a rock and a hardplace-you’ve denied them their human rights to not be occupied inpertuity and to be ethnically cleansed.hence the dispair that leads to violence.you fooled the american right ring gulls that the israelis are victims but the vicious unjust limbo you’ve put the arapalestinians in is something americans have had to pay the price for supporting. One day maybe americans will realize that peace could be had if it wern’t for the evil position that israel has taken-not the victimized arabs.Of course arab muslim fundamentalism is also evil but not all arabs are fundamentalists and if the arab spring continues they may come into the enlightened 21stc.pro zionist occupation and illigally holding on to annexed land doesn’t help that.

Human rights are universal. no matter what aspersions you cast on those pesky arab palestinians who have yet to disapear so you can rewrite history and portray your land grab as noble instead of the ignoble theft by hook and by crook of indigenous peoples land.[back when the UN was a colonialists club]expanding terrritory because it is needed for comfort-is illigal and tyranical. The arabs resisting occupation and illigal israeli expansionist settlements have nothing to lose .The 21stc “civilized democracy” israel does. Nothing civilized and 21stc about a garrison state and having to look over your shoulders all the time. You can mimic the great western democracies all you want but those pesky arab palestinians that you fearfully occupy to maintain your racist majority jewish state expose you as a racist colonial power a la centuries past. You say the arabresisters are irrationa-they’re occupied and it is israel that steals their landnot the other way around. What is irrational is israels would rather see its citizens sacrificed then give up illigal land and occupation and go back to its original borders out of an obstinant determination to cling to a false narrative about their origin!.it’s about pride wheras for the arabs-palestinians it’s aobut their human right -to not be ethnically cleasned and occupied and their right to a homeland. They are fighting for something real-israelis are fighting over a lie and a racist uncivilized undemocratic belief in ethnic cleansing.

Illegal to expand territory through war? Says who? You? Some powerless international body that most people don’t accept as having any authority whatsoever (UN). And let’s ignore the fact that it was the Arabs who started all these wars for the purpose of territorial expansion. So if it was illegal (it isn’t) they broke the law first and therefore surrendered the protection that law gives them.

Bottom line = when you use google products, you’re helping them help the enemy.

Apparently, The Blaze is not as Libertarian and Ron Paul friendly as Glenn Beck was when I attended his DC event on 8/28. BTW, after seeing DC, I now know that they are stealing our money. While some might see the capitol’s architecture as a symbol of the greatness of our nation, I only saw it as waste. It was pretty to look at, but it was all just wasteful spending. I want to know how much it costs to make street curbs out of solid granite. I know counter tops are tens of dollars per square foot and that that is the free market price. So what would a federally bought granite curb go for?

startpage.com uses Google search engine on your behalf and returns the info to you anonomously. It is an offshoot of ixquick.com which uses it’s own search engine anonomously.

Google is an NSA front. Nothing you do will keep them from effectively monitoring you. Hiding your web history only hides it from you. Nothing you do online is hidden. And no product connected to the internet is safe. Not from dedicated hackers. And certainly not from Uncle Sam.

Now taking recommendations for new email hosts.

In case you didn’t realize it, this also means google (gmail) will be READING your emails!!!
Kind of like FedEx announcing they are going to start opening your packages to serve you better.
After all, if FedEx knew what was inside, they could sell that info about you. They could add advertisements inside your packages, and they COULD charge less for shipping, but corporations only do that if the competition forces them to do so, and neither FedEx nor Google have enough competition.

Seriously, I am looking for a new email service. Right now it is all gmail. That ride is now over.
What google got in exchange for providing free email, was goodwill that got us to use their search engine, which sells acres of ad space. What they will now get from me, is, zero ad sales because I will not only switch email, but, I will also switch to BING. Chrome is also being deleted.
I’ll use firefox and Bing. And I’m looking for new email provider suggestions.

      Anyone?

TomFerrari – IMHO switch to Firefox for your browser and DuckDuckGo for your search engine. Install the Adblock Plus and No Script add-ons. Switch your email provider to Hotmail for day to day email and hushmail for anything else. BTW, just opening this story, the Blaze tried to set 13 different cookies.

If you want an alternative to the google borg try Zoho.com for email. It caters more towards business but they do have free personal email for individuals. I have used it for over a year now with no problems. Short of hosting your own domain and email, Zoho seems like a really good alternative to the borg.

Completely off topic…my wife told me this joke that some of you may have heard …but maybe not.

President Obama and the First Lady were flying off on vacation in Air Force 1 when the President, looking intently out the window, turned to his wife and said he could probably make someone very happy by throwing a one thousand dollar bill, which he was holding in his hand, out the window of the aircraft. Michelle looking out the window at all the little people replied that she could make even more people happy by throwing forty one thousand dollar bills out the window. Meanwhile, in the cockpit the pilot and co-pilot having over heard the conversation, grinned and commented to each other that they knew how to make 300,000,000 people very happy.

Well, I thought it was funny. :)

Haha, just because there is a “disable” button doesn’t mean Google stops collecting your web history. They still have it, but only now you can’t see it. Until their servers are audited, just assume they have everything.

You want to hide your ip, setup Tor.

You want a private search engine, use duckduckgo.

You can use StartPage.com as well. Not only do they NOT track your info but they have a proxy service. They are the most private search engine they also enhance their search with google results without google being able to track you. FireFox with AdBlockPlus, Ghostery, Start Page and your pretty set to surf about as private as you can get without having to be trained in network admin.

The problem with startpage.com is that it obtains search results from the google borg. I find it better to use it’s twin ixquick.com instead. Ixquick obtains it’s own search results and does not use results from the borg.

Just call your internet provider every so often and ask them to reset/change your IP address. If you have a cable modem you can do it yourself by simply leaving your modem unplugged for several minutes and then powering it back up. All that is presuming you only use goggle services anonymously and don’t log-in.

@AGGIEBREWER Indeed it does. My cable company tech support tells me this, that’s the basis for “shifting” or “static” IP addies and if I knew how to get to the window to show you, you could already be set up, by your ISP, to change IP addies on a regular basis, we are and I’ve seen it. It’s a command prompt thing, if anyone wants to help out on this.

And when I say “my cable tech support” I mean 5 guys in our local COUNTY-wide cable system and by-golly they know who I am the minute I talk, and I know most of them by name and it’s like talking to friends. They teach me a lot more than “call your vendor”. They show me lots of neat stuff and they also know they don’t need to start out by saying “Now go to your start menu, that button on the far left of your taskbar. What’s a taskbar? *sigh*……” They know I’m usually at the place they need me to be, most times. So yeah, you can trust Cap’n Crunch and me, it’s true. Of course, that might start a cascade of not being able to reconnect to the ‘net, and God help you if you have Comcast, those b***ards. smh Ohhhh yeah…I know our modem can get stupid at times, but it’s THEIR modem thank God, let THEM fix it! :) (See, we’ve got a phone on it too. Makes it stupid sometimes.)

DogPile is a reliable search engine which I often use too. I would delete my google browsing history if I could access it but I cannot. Over a year ago, google started pestering me to provide a cell phone number for my account. At first, I could easily dismiss the request and access my mail. Then it became impossible to dismiss the request, even with a fictitous number. I haven’t had access to my google account for nearly a year and I refuse to comply with their invasive busy body nonsense. Screw ‘em. But that’s not where it ends. Lately, I cannot even access comments at certain google blogs. The “Captcha” function which provides visually altered text to block spam entries refuses to accept anything I type in – visual or audio – beyond the preview window. It appears that google uses the captcha feature to block certain users from making comments at sites on blogger. It would matter if google were the only game in town. They’ll soon discover, they’re not.

I cannot recommend Dogpile for a search engine as they use search results from the borg entity that is google. Dogpile happily proclaims it right on their site:

“Dogpile aggregates the most relevant searches from Google, Yahoo! and Bing…”

I recommend DuckDuckgo.com or Ixquick.com as neither one obtains their results from google, or yahoo/bing. ;)

Islam:Governing under sharia – Council on Foreign Relations (Progressive – masks sharia)
BBC – Religions – Islam: Sharia . . .BBC? Really?
As for ixquick which is the same as StartPage . . .again . . .a waste of time.
