WikiLeaks: Al-Qaeda Could Unleash ‘Nuclear 9/11′

According to reports from the UK’s Daily Telegraph and Vancouver Sun, a number of leaked diplomatic cables warn that the terrorist group Al-Qaeda may be on the verge of producing nuclear weapons after securing radioactive materials and rogue scientists to help carry out their deadly mission.

From documents released by WikiLeaks, a “leading atomic regulator” has warned that “the world stands on the brink of a ‘nuclear 9/11,’” the Sun reports.

Security briefings suggest that jihadi groups are also close to producing “workable and efficient” biological and chemical weapons that could kill thousands if unleashed in attacks on the West.  Thousands of classified American cables obtained by the WikiLeaks website and passed to The Daily Telegraph detail the international struggle to stop the spread of weapons-grade nuclear, chemical and biological material around the globe.

At a Nato meeting in January 2009, security chiefs briefed member states that al-Qaida was plotting a program of “dirty radioactive IEDs”, makeshift nuclear roadside bombs that could be used against British troops in Afghanistan.  As well as causing a large explosion, a “dirty bomb” attack would contaminate the area for many years.

The briefings also state that al-Qaida documents found in Afghanistan in 2007 revealed that “greater advances” had been made in bioterrorism than was previously realized. An Indian national security adviser told American security personnel in June 2008 that terrorists had made a “manifest attempt to get fissile material” and “have the technical competence to manufacture an explosive device beyond a mere dirty bomb”.

Alerts about the smuggling of nuclear material, sent to Washington from foreign U.S. embassies, document how criminal and terrorist gangs were trafficking large amounts of highly radioactive material across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.  The alerts explain how customs guards at remote border crossings used radiation alarms to identify and seize cargoes of uranium and plutonium.

The cables also suggest that radioactive materials stolen from Chernobyl have been offered for sale on the black market in Lisbon, Portugal.

Tomihiro Taniguchi, the deputy director general of the IAEA, has privately warned America that the world faces the threat of a “nuclear 9/11″ if stores of uranium and plutonium were not secured against terrorists.

But diplomats visiting the IAEA’s Austrian headquarters in April 2008 said that there was “no way to provide perimeter security” to its own laboratory because it has windows that leave it vulnerable to break-ins.

Senior British defence officials have raised “deep concerns” that a rogue scientist in the Pakistani nuclear program “could gradually smuggle enough material out to make a weapon”, according to a document detailing official talks in London in February 2009.

In addition, the cables also warn of deadly biological pathogens located in Pakistan that may be vulnerable to falling into the wrong hands.  Some of these potential weaponized strains include anthrax and avian flu which could easily be dispersed in crowded areas.

Security of the same types of biological weapons located in the United States and Russia may also be susceptible to security breaches.  According to the leaked cables, “a growing chorus of voices” at the World Health Assembly have warned of the risk.

    Exactly, the jihadist main targets at the moment are Washington, NY and LA. People like Ahmajinedad and bin laden do not yet have the ballistic capability to get their nuclear bombs to us via air, but they do indeed have the bombs. How will a dirty bomb make it from the middle east to our big cities? Easy, they get smuggled into Cuba or Venezuela with open arms, shipped into Mexico via the drug trade, then walked across the US/Mexico border in plain site (because let’s face it, our border security is almost non-existent at this point,) then driven by RV or big Rig to their destination. Next………next comes something of apocalyptic proportions that I’d rather not ponder right now.

    As much as I despise our current administration I am PRAYING HARD for them everyday, that God grants BHO and his advisors wisdom and that regardless of agenda or policy their common and unwavering goal remains protecting the people of this great nation and the citizens of Israel. I DON’T CARE THE COST, we must never turn our backs on a them when given information that a possible threat exists.

    Up until now our CIA and Israel have been working the the back channels, killing nuclear scientist in Iran and bugging their technology with advanced viruses, but we can only keep the inevitable at bay for so long.

    This is VERY SCARY STUFF AND BECK HAS IT RIGHT!! He’s been right about 95% of the time thus far, and therefore I am inclined to believe the research and analysis he presents to us. Everyone called him crazy when he predicted that commodities were going to rise in price rapidly, then a few months later I see him on tv one day, eating out of a tub of Bryers, mouth full of vanilla bean talking about how his ice cream had gone up a dollar and some change over the course of his two week vacation!

    All eyes are on the middle east right now, but we must remain vigilant and remember that to these people we are the GREAT SATAN and the main target, Israel is just the lilttle Satan….we are the gold medal to them. Imagine being an Israeli citizen in Israel right now….I‘d be shakin’ in my boots.

    The drug cartels are able to smuggle thousands of tons of illicit drugs across our southern border. A “suitcase nuke” would weigh less than 100lbs. About the size of a mid-sized suitcase. Do you think it would be tough to get one into the country?

    This is a boarder problem plain and simple. And NOT only Mr. Obama’s fault. For whatever reason (s) past administrations have done little or nothing to secure our borders. However he is the President at the moment – at this moment in time it is his responsibility to address. The only way to make a small nuclear weapon effective is to have it in close proximity to your target. They have no sophisticated delivery systems. We are basically looking at the mother of all suicide vests! BUT it has to be carried into the country!

    Secure the borders and the threat is reduced by several powers of ten.

      All those envelopes that were mailed to leaders a couple months ago with powders….I think that was our warning. The jihadist were letting us know they had the materials, and had them at bay INSIDE the US. Why do you think that story died and we have never heard another word about it?

So don’t assume that nothing is being done to hunt and kill terrorists (like Osama Bin Laden, ect) to continue to keep Americans safe. Isn’t that right Randyrocker?       Looking at it that way, I can also assume that there’s nothing to worry about, I can just trust that Obama also has a secret plan to pay off the 14 Trillion dollar debt, bring back millions of jobs, and restore the 93% loss in the dollar’s value since the FED was formed.

      You’re right, we don‘t have access to the information he has but I’d be willing to bet that if we did, we wouldn‘t be out golfing 3 times a week and taking a week’s vacation every month.

      Are you saying that if we only knew what he knows, we too would be bowing to foreign leaders, undermining our best allies, and giving away our strategic advantages in missile and defense systems?

      Despite our lack of access to those secret briefings, we can use our common sense and knowledge of history to conclude that Obama is in way over his head and that he’s leading us down a very dangerous path of appeasement and disarmament, inflation and debt. Gosh – I wish some other countries had tried these before so we‘d have some historical reference points to predict how well it’s going to turn out for us too… (sarcasm). We’ll just have to re-elect him so we can find out how it all turns out!

    Interesting, this info is released at a time when people around the world are already in a semi-panic over the Egyptian situation. I’m seeing an intentional effort to further freak people out for the express purpose of inserting more government controls.

    I can smell a limited release of Anthrax or Avian Flu in our immediate future. Just enough though to condition us to be more susceptible to more government control.

    Is there any good news in the world today? I pray for leaders that are at one with the will of the people because this sounds like it’s going to get much worse before it gets better. I question Assange in his entirety. How do we really know any of this information is legitimate? Assange did plan an information dump in January that exposed the bankers….. where is that information? Maybe Assange has been “bankrolled”. I am just postulating here.

      I contend that you may be on to something. As has been discussed on other threads, there is a lot of doomsday stories. I just haven’t been able to fully figure out what the motive or strategies are to constantly be focusing on apocolyptic events. Not that they aren’t possible, I contend there are other motives in play. Maybe a s simple as Beck’s 4 cattle hurding strategies. One of them is security. Fear is also a great motivator in the short term .I believe that ASSange is just another paid puppet of the leftist elites.

      He is very aware of this. The new START Treaty with Russia will drastically reduce our ability to respond to any nuclear threat. The reduction of American missile defense systems was the biggest sell out of all. He has made us much much weaker with this Treaty. Of course, he does not want America to be strong.

She said… “We have bought large billboard type of advertising to be used on 3 billboards in and around Mexico city.They have a picture of me holding a Nuclear device in one hand with my other hand free to point at the terrorists while I say in bold print “Just Say No”.

      In the stunned silence from the room of over 45 reporters, her follow-up comment was… “Any more questions”?

      For example, a 2009 study by the NHERI found that home schoolers score an average of 34 to 39 percentile points higher than the norm on standardized achievement tests.       No prob this just shows that parents are better teachers than most the loons teaching public school with there degree. I find it funny how the public schools try to talk down home schools and belittle them. Than again thats what left nuts want you to believe the governmnent can do it you cant. Numbers are rather startling in how much better a highschool grad low wage parent can teach compared to that union garbage down the street. Though most studies seem to show avoiding public school would be good. Go private, home or what ever you can afford if possible over public school.

    I have to believe that given the state of the world, that a nuclear tragedy most likely will occur. Given the fact that “No one does anything wrong given their model of the world”, some radicals would not hesitate to explode a device like this when given the chance with no second thoughts what so ever.

On the other hand, though, the threat would probably be enough to be a reason to create a world government in oder to “create world wide unity for protection of the common good of the planet”.

      Wonder if this has anything to do with the nerve gas agent that was ‘misplaced’ in Utah. In Glenn’s book “An Inconvenient Book” he talks about terrorists ties to Arizona. “For more than 20 years now they’ve been migrating to the Phoenix area.” After the 911 investigations an FBI memo surfaced stating the government had knowledge of terrorist training with planes, the memo’s title “The Phoenix Memo.” Because it was written by the Phoenix branch of the FBI. It read in part “Phoenix has observed an inordinate number of individuals of investigative interest who are attending civil aviation colleges in the state of Arizona” Now we find a book dedicated to the suicide bombers and martyrs in Arizona and lets not forget the terror operative in California who was caught trying to sneak across the border into California. But the government is doing all they can. Remember they are going to have those low flying planes over the Super Bowl this year.

      No it shouldnt be a surprise, the reports have been popping up over the years that AQ has been trying to buy nukes or build one. I do not remember where but one guy said they in fact had them but they are non functional. The weapons need to be maintained if they are not, the components and circuitry will decay. Russia has lost several since the collapse of the USSR, odds are AQ purchased a few of them. So how do they get them working?…. Pakistani Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan has been reported to be the go to nuclear scientist on the black market for design etc.

      Bigger concern for many is an EMP(electro magnetic pulse, by product discovered from nuclear blasts) being used that could wipe out financial markets, defense networks etc. This type of device has no bang, no flash, no radiation nothing it just wipes out anything and everything electronic within its “blast radius”. A former General was on Future Weapons talking about how there are some the size of large coffee cans that have enough punch to take out the NYSE or the like.

      This should not be taken lightly it is just a question of time till a WMD is used on US soil. AQ/ terror org‘s have WMD’s its just a question of getting them weaponized and onto US soil if they arent already…..

      The Jihadist main targets at the moment are Washington, NY and LA. People like ahmadinejad and bin laden do not yet have the ballistic capability to get their nuclear bombs to us via air but they do indeed have the bombs. How will a dirty bomb make it from the middle east to our big cities you ask? Easy, they get smuggled into Cuba or Venezuela with open arms, then shipped into Mexico via the drug cartels, then walked across the US/Mexico border in plain sight (because lets face it, our border security is non-existent at this point) then driven by big rigs or RV to their destination. Next……well next comes something of apocalyptic proportions that I’d prefer not to ponder right now.

      Up until now the CIA and Israel have been working in the back channels, killing Iranian nuclear scientist and bugging their systems with advanced viruses, but we can only keep the inevitable from happening for so long. We will witness a middle eastern nuclear explosion on our soil or Israel’s in our life time.

      As much as I despise our current administration I am praying HARD for them every day, that God grants BHO and his advisors wisdom and that regardless of policy or agenda their common and unwavering goal remains protecting the citizens of this great nation AND the citizens of Israel. I DON’T CARE WHAT THE COST; We must protect Israel and never ever turn our backs on them if a possible threat arises.

      This is very scary stuff AND BECK HAS IT RIGHT!!! He’s been right about 95% of the time thus far, and therefore I am inclined to believe the research and analysis he present to us. Everyone called him a loon for predicting that commodities would rapidly rise in cost, then I saw him on tv one day eating out of a tub of Bryers, mouth full of vanilla bean talking about how his ice cream went up a dollar and some change over the course of his two week vacation!

      Pay attention closely people. We are in the last days. Right now all eyes are on the middle easy but we must remain vigilant and not diminish the fact that MANY in the middle east want to see the GREAT AND LITTLE SATANS WIPED OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH. If I was Egypt‘s neighbor and a citizen of Israel right now I’d be shakin’ in my boots!

      @ BMARTIN, I agree, I read a story last week buried in the headlines that Iran has the technology to send up satellites. An EMP in the atmosphere over the middle of the US could take down the whole power grid and would have far greater consequences. Pacemakers, Insulin pumps, refrigeration, ventilators, gas stations, cars and all electronics…poof…gone. That’s the real threat.

      I agree with Curator. We have more nukes than anybody. Nukes are a lose-lose weapon, but they can offer some level of detente, as long as we make it clear that our measured and planned recourse, if anything should happpen on our soul, is to blow Mecca to kingdom come, occupy Saudi Arabia, and partner with the Chinese on dividing up the oil, just so we don’t make war with them in the process. I think our message should be, “If I even THINK that you dirty bastards are going to unleash a nuke, I am putting my key in the launcher. If ANYONE blows up ANY nuke ANYWHERE for ANY REASON, Mecca gets melted. If this is Jihad, and it is, then we have to go for the throat and end the business quickly, decisively and finally. And mercifully, to misquote a line from a 1980s movie, “A flash of brilliant light, and they’re vaporized,” and so is the Muslim holy land. This threat to us in not going to mitigate itself, certainly not with the politics of appeasement.

      Unfotunately, muslims, i.e., people , aren’t important, only Islam is. They don’t care what happens to the people (at least until there aren’t very many of them left). I agree with you, but why stop with just Mecca? Further, don’t forget about the nukes in Pakistan and Iran(?). they are a bigger threat. Perhaps thay should be the first target, then Mecca. Just hope Israel isn’t downwind.
