WikiLeaks: Fidel Castro ‘Obsessed’ With Barack Obama

Having seen off 10 US presidents – all committed to his assassination, overthrow or isolation – Fidel Castro had more reason than most to beware the occupant of the Oval Office.
But Barack Obama was different. The octogenarian communist revolutionary fell for the young new president and became “obsessed”, according to confidential US diplomatic cables released by WikiLeaks.
Having confidently predicted the US would not elect a black man, Castro sat bolt upright when the candidate of hope and change swept to the White House. His Reflections columns in the communist party newspaper, Granma, were filled with observations about, then praise for, Obama.
The US diplomatic mission in Havana, long accustomed to reporting the commandante’s diatribes against American tyranny, was not prepared for fan mail.
“Fidel’s subsequent Reflection on 9 June will only add to speculation from our civil society and diplomatic contacts that Fidel is obsessed with President Obama,” said one memo.
Alas, the communist’s love affair was not meant to last. Commenting on the recent WikiLeaks’ docu-dump, Castro complained that Washington, “while hiding behind friendly rhetoric, is essentially sticking to the same policies of old and still acts like the world’s policeman.”
Castro also recently slammed the Obama administration for not lifting the United States’ 49-year economic embargo against Cuba.

Obama is most likely afraid of the dark, the place where Fidel does his dirty work. Cuba continues to kill people. Cuba continues to violate very known human right. Fidel is just wondering what happened to the American lion, not to be found.

One of the major problems that we have in our country now is that almost 50% of the population does not pay taxes and yet they can vote. More than one of our founding fathers said that that the end of a nation comes when a population can vote itself money.And starting with FDR’s “raw deal” and going into LBJ’s “new society” and after that more and more and more handouts.

Posted on December 19, 2010 at 4:58pmI could not agree more. Even as we speak, they want to change the Constitutional First Amendment Rights b/cause of Assange and Wikileaks. Columbia University and the Military tried “Censorship.” asking, telling, people not to access or read these documents on their personal home computers.
The First Amendment states that you have freedom of speech and freedom to publish. Assange did not steal or pay or bribe to get these documents. They were given to him by a First Class Private, who was authorized to access them. Be careful here when the government decides to change the constitution and punish everyone because they had a responsibility to secure their own documents and clearly did NOT.
Then one has to ask, do you prosecute the New York Times for publishing? This is a very slippery slope and if not careful, you will lose your first amendment rights over this issue. The White House already wants to take control of what you can publish , read and view on the Internet. That my friends is “Censorship: and is against the Laws of this country. That is the Communist way. Not ours.
You may not like what Assange did, but he did have the “right” to do it. He made nothing up, stole nothing, bought nothing. He exercised his right to publish and speak out. In this country, that is not against the law. The government has the responsibility to secure and protect it’s documents. I might add that not all these documents Assange published or made public were confidential or classified.
Let me just end this by saying, Be careful you don’t allow this incident to be used against your freedoms and constitutional rights. Don’t allow the government to use their own inabilities and irresponsibilities to take away your First Amendment Rights. They would LOVE that. As they are fond of saying in the White House, never let a good opportunity or disaster go to waste. This is a perfect excuse for them to do that and Obama does not like the Constitution and feels it is too “restrictive”.to government.
Careful here, think about your Constitutional Rights and who would love to take them away or restrict them. I think we all know who that is. Also, this coulld have been deliberate as a way to amend or change or restrict what we can and cannot say, do, write or read.
I do NOT approve of what Assange did. I do not condone what he did. I do not particularly like this man. However, I am not willing to let what he did be responsible for taking away my rights. You either believe in the constitution or you don’t.

A very detailed book I might add, so it’s unlikely that Sinclair could make all those things up.

I have friends who have family memebers in Cuba….the people there are suffering and have had no improvement since Castro took over. Why else would they get on rafts and try to get to the U.S.
