Wild Brawl at NYC Sikh Temple: Swords, Knives, & Cricket Bats

It was a turf war — Sikh style.
A wild brawl broke out Sunday in Queens, NY after a rival Sikh group stormed a temple during prayers claiming they were the rightful leaders. And they brought some weapons to do their talking: swords, knives, and cricket bats.
Police were present at the temple during the fight, as the attackers had vowed to show up with force. But for some reason the mob made it past police and were let in. And that’s when utter pandemonium broke out, with some men swinging swords and others brandishing brass knuckles.
After the fact, seven men were arrested. The New York Post filed a video report from the scene:

The New York Post reports:
The alleged attackers — armed with at least one sword about 40 inches long, and another sword, according to a witness — were part of the old guard that had been recently voted out of power but refused to accept the decision, even going to court to challenge the election.
“We just went to pray,” said M.K. Singh, who received stitches and staples to close a head wound. “We walked inside, and they started attacking.
“They cut me. They tried to cut my arm off, but the sword got caught on [something]. I’m very lucky.”
New temple President Gurmej Singh said he and his supporters had come to pray despite knowing there could be trouble.
Police had been deployed outside the two-story center in case anything happened, but the violence broke out inside.
The attackers brought the long sword and at least one other blade, as well as a hammer, mallet and cricket bats to the temple at 101st Avenue and 114th Street at around 11 a.m., witnesses and police said.
Three people were reported injured, including a cop who tried to intervene, police said.
The attackers vowed to show up again next week.

No, it’s not Islam. It’s origins are in India. A doctor where my wife works is of the Sikh religion, a very pleasant and nice fellow, as genteel, educated and polite as they come. In this case it’s a matter of idiots who lost power not wanting to give it up, which is a factor of the human condition more than a specific religious bent.

What do you mean? India has a booming economy actually and their standard of living is growing at levels unheard of during the days they were owned by the British Empire. Sikhs are actually a really peaceful all embracing people. This demonstration tells more of their entitlement-minded Americanization than it reflects the very peaceful spirit of their religion. In other words, they represent Sikhism as much as people stringing up blacks while singing hymns represented Christians.

I now consider the Judicial false and corrupt for not fast tracking the healthcare law to the Supreme Court. They want it to be so entrenched in our society, so as to declare it will be too expensive to be undone. Congress abridges our laws with disdain, and passes laws against the Constituion. This is treason.

Haven’t we learned anything yet? (I have my own opinions about other religions, and happen to believe I’m right, but it’s not about that.) I can guarantee someone put this group up to stand up for their grievance in this way. Two things over the last week have come to my PERSONAL attention (no news media needed). 1) Family member student encouraged to take action against unfair raising of campus housing. Fix the ‘austerity’ cuts in such a way as to be unjust to a specific group and then profs encourage kids to protest. 2) Come to DC to support [insert your favorite great and just charity/cause here] and [insert a group, such as 'patients' rights'] in this MAY DAY national protest.

In accordance with the Constitution and federal law, they should be given fair and due process in a court of law. Remember, they are (just as anyone in America) are innocent until proven guilty.
Second — Not being born in America is not immediate grounds for deportation — lest you forget our historical immigrate roots? I would also like to know how you can ascertain from this video who is or is not a legal citizen?
