Wild Video: Heroic Elderly Woman Fights Off Would-Be Jewel Thieves

As a small contingent of would-be jewel thieves tries to break through a UK jewelry store window with a sledge hammer, an elderly woman rushes across the street and uses her handbag to fight off the bandits.
Worried the police may be hot on their trail at any moment, the unsuccessful crooks try to make a getaway, but bystanders manage to drag one to the ground and hold him until Northampton authorities arrive. ITN reports that police have arrested four of six suspects involved in the attempted robbery.
I’ll just go ahead and state the obvious: only in Europe would someone try to make a high-speed getaway on the back of a Vespa scooter.

The younger and more capable people around her first thought of recording the incident and only much much later after the old woman did the bulk of the work, they swooped in to try and share in the glory.

One time, I walked up and started to snatch her purse while her back was turned, but she assured me she saw me coming up and was ready. Okay, I doubt she would have caught me, but she sure would have hooted and hollered for help!

Report Post »…and for the record the Vespa is a fairly good choice considering over there its such a common mode of transportation easily lost in a crowd ,also the green one is a GT (Gran Tourismo)150cc’s min. & 250 max ,light nimbal & quick enough for a get away. ..the other seems to be a 250 or 300+cc and quite the spunky lil’Scoot
( so maby Miss Jessup ought stick to the facts rather than comment/report without insight on the venerable Vespa)
