Willie Nelson Charged With Pot Possession in Texas

SIERRA BLANCA, Texas (AP) — A U.S. Border Patrol spokesman says country singer Willie Nelson was charged with marijuana possession after 6 ounces was found aboard his tour bus in Texas.

Patrol spokesman Bill Brooks says the bus pulled into the Sierra Blanca, Texas, checkpoint about 9 a.m. Friday. Brooks says an officer smelled pot when a door was opened and a search turned up marijuana.

Brooks says the Hudspeth County sheriff was contacted and Nelson was among three people arrested.

Sheriff Arvin West didn’t immediately return a phone message left at his home Friday, but he told the El Paso Times that Nelson claimed the marijuana was his. The singer was held briefly a $2,500 bond before being released.

Nelson spokeswoman Elaine Schock declined to comment when contacted via e-mail by The Associated Press.

Editor’s note: Here’s a flashback clip from earlier this year as Willie Nelson admits to Larry King that he used marijuana prior to the interview:

I have an idea. Let’s legalize all drugs.
    Then:
    1. Treatment for any illness, caused by drug use, will not be funded by the taxpayers.

    2. Drug use will not be an excuse for any violation of the law.

    3. Any “high” driver who kills anyone with his/her auto, will be executed within 30 days.

    4. Anyone injured by a “high” driver, will receive compensation for life.

    5. Any drug using parent(s) who sends a child to school with drugs in their system, will be sent to jail for a minimum of one year. (Life, for repeat offenders)

    6. Any student, found with twice with drugs in their system, will be denied Special Education classes.

7.. Any President who “jokes” about inhaling pot, will be impeached, found guilty, removed, and imprisoned.

    8. Any politician, who will not enact the necessary laws to implement these measures, shall spend one day in the classroom with a minimum of twenty-five “drug babies”.

For those that advocate drug use, or simply don’t care, trying teaching these kids. Is it any surprise that education has gone downhill since the 60′s?

    7.
    one year.

the decline of public education should not be attributed to drug use.

If one is driving and on it and can’t drive, they should suffer the consequences,,,,however there are people on nothing out there who drive like crap. Or people who are on prescription drugs and drive. If one is sitting in their own house and is not hurting anyone and not doing it around their kids…whatever. People demonize this too much and equate it to heroin, meth, and other harmful drugs. This is just a way to relax. And no I do NOT do it myself, but if someone else wants to I don‘t have a problem as long as they don’t make it a problem for themselves. It’s not going away.

      http://blogs.wsj.com/wallet/2009/01/22/turbo-tax-and-timothy-geithners-tax-problems/
Paulson ran Goldman since 1998, floating it on the New York stock exchange a year later. By the time he left, its share price had almost trebled.

His move into government was sweetened with a huge tax break. Faced with a conflict of interest that would have made his job at the treasury impossible, he sold about $500m of Goldman shares built up during his time at the bank. In return, the US tax authorities waived a requirement for him to pay capital gains tax on the sale – handing him a $200m tax break, according to some estimates.

6 ounces? You’ve got to be kidding me… Let the Mexican gangs and drug cartels spread their tons of drugs under and over our wide open southern border and throughout the US while busting old Willie for a personal stash of a couple of ounces… Great.

you gotta be kidding me…this guys a saint..non violent preaches love..this is whats wrong with todays system.

middle class a call on you to rise up and end the era of progressive blue bloods repub and democrat…i hate to do endorsments cause im a political atheist, but we only have 2 patriots on the short list of candidates they are ron paul and sarah palin…the blue bloods have us by the b&lls with there special interests..we need to congregate and donate..they need money for our ideas to see the light of day..we need to beat them at their own game(FINANCING A CAMPAIGN)also the more people you get on board the better..RON paul said it himself that todays election are all about money. they’re gonna try anything to get us on their side, like romneys a business man and he saved companies and he can do the same…well guess what this is a country not a company and we dont need his help we can do it ourselves get out of our way we dont need you..they’re the problem and now he wants to save us..tell him to go back saving companies like dominoes that is suckking all the money from our mom and pop pizza shops..

It has never been a secret that Willie smokes pot. Geez, he has such a tolerance to it that he probably has to smoke half a bag just to get a buzz! I say, FREE WILLIE!!

The war on drugs is LOST. It has done more damage than the decriminalization would ever have. Another idiotic Government intervention based on the false premise of trying to keep Americans safe all while taking liberties away from the individual.

prohibition doesn’t work and it makes criminals where its not necessary and over taxes the jails with nonviolent criminals. Legalize it and tax it, it would be far better.

unless that was sarcasm… you are a flaming idiot Mossbrain…

… actually… Willie should just move to California if he ever gets out of the pokey again for doing nothing wrong , except “BAD SINGING”…..and believe me… I’m more conservative than anyone on this board … I would make Reagan look like Jimmy Carter…and if you want to get into the heated alcohol vs. marijuana argument…. give me a jingle….

They had to arrest Willie – the Feds won’t let them arrest illegal aliens. Which does more harm?
