‘Win-Win For Everything’: Sacramento Airport Mulls Replacing TSA With Private Security Company

The Sacramento International Airport is thinking about giving TSA agents the boot and replacing them with security agents from a private company, CBS Sacramento reports.

The airport would become the third largest airport in the United States to replace government workers with ones from a private company. Airports in San Francisco and Kansas have already cut ties with the TSA as well as 14 smaller airports.

The TSA has faced a steady flow of criticism for alleged privacy rights violations and intrusive pat-down techniques.

“It’s a win-win for everything [and] has no bearing on security procedure or the processes the public has become accustomed to,” said Linda Beech Cutler, a spokesperson for the Sacramento International Airport.

Airport officials insist that the change will not increase costs and will not compromise customer safety. TSA will actually manage the new company that replaces them.

“It might be better, less intrusive on us. I don’t like how the government runs their business,” said one flyer.

More from CBS Sacramento:

“They will issue proposals, evaluate the private security companies and ultimately choose the company that would operate here,” said Cutler.

Airport officials say them having more control means more flexibility and better customer serviceand faster lines.

“Makes us more flexible for staffing, for peak times and not being so staffed up for not so busy times,” said Cutler.

The security change-up could take up to a year to take effect if it is approved. Current TSA employees at the airport can apply to become part of the new private security team.

Any time you see “public has become accustomed to”, it means lose-lose, not win-win.

Watch and learn. You think Romney is on our side? Try again, just about every issue you Beck worshipers complain about Romney supports and the Paulinistas continue to fighting against. You have been duped by these mormon progressives. Romney is a progressive and the only difference between him and Obama is the child like rhetoric.

Why don’t people stop flying for a month and all this TSA crap will disappear. With today’s internet technology, there is absolutely no reason any business person must fly. I’ve been airline free since 2005…..best business decision I’ve ever made.

I stopped flying about three years ago. I can no longer stomach the incompetence of TSA and the overall hassles of flying under their dictation.

Not complaining about individual TSA agents, they’re just doing their jobs. It is what TSA is teaching them to do and knowing that most of the TSA rules are pointess and needless, that gets my goat. So I can’t protest the TSA directly but I can stop using Airports and Airlines. Eventually folks will get the point as the publics use of the airline industry continues to shrink.

I feel sorry for the security officers that end up working after the TSA. They‘ll bear the brunt of the TSA’s reputation, be driven nuts with the constant re-definition of their job title and let’s face facts: the security industry doesn’t have a steller image either. I’d dump the whole “quazi-cop” image and put the screeners under the concierge umbrella with their fingers on the panic button, with trained police personnel on stand by to take care of the more sensative stuff.

      Agree with Daveed.

If it‘s TSA slobs grabbing your junk or it’s private security firm working for TSA slobs grabbing your junk, you’re still being treated like an animal. Apparently there’s a lot of people in this country that are ok with that because they are animals…Sheep.

I agree with SCAZ. It’s the whole liberal “Image is everything” B.S. All they’re doing is changing their uniforms. I’d even be willing to bet a lot of the TSA people will still be there copping a feel, but in a pretty white shirt instead of a pretty blue one. Oh, and they’ll probably be paid a whole lot less than when they were TSA.

Maybe so, but at least their boss isn‘t Obama and the workers can get fired if they get caught groping too long with eye’s roll up in the backs of there heads like the Rob Snider’s “Organism Guy” character.

As a professional traveler I wish every city would throw TSA out and give the jobs to the private sector. You wouldn’t believe the incompetence I witness on a weekly basis.

That is a good thing. TSA makes me want to throw up, it is just nasty. It was done to lead the cattle (American people to a certain place). Where ever that is don’t go!

It should read: The Sacramento International Airport is thinking about giving TSA agents the jack boot. This apparent capitulation by TSA is just that apparent because TSA will still manage the ‘private’ company,it‘s smoke and mirrors folks that’s all this is.

Sacramento is where I fly to for visits with my family. I love that little airport, it’s quick and easy from getting into it, and to the plane, and easy going home. I haven‘t flown since TSA came along and wasen’t looking forward to it, this news makes me very happy. I have “extra parts” and I wasen’t excited about being groped.

So the TSA will be managing the companies employed to replace them?

As all intrusive as the TSA has become, expanding ever outward across so many other areas of the nation, why does anyone honestly think Obama will not simply have Homeland Insecurity declare all the replacement companies are now nationalized or something to that effect.

It‘s not like they’re going to be fired or anything. They’ve already moved into bus stations train stations and our highways. Don’t for one second think you will be able to avoid the TSA by simply not flying.
