‘Wipe Them Off the Face of the Earth’: Iran Issues New Threat to Israel

An Iranian military official threatened to “wipe” Israel “off the face of the earth” if the Jewish state attacks, a stark new threat coinciding with the start of a European Union oil embargo to put pressure on Iran’s nuclear program, Reuters reported.

Revolutionary Guards General Amir Ali Hajizadeh reportedly issued the warning as he announced new missile tests to take place in the coming week.

According to Reuters, Hajizadeh said the exercises targeting mock-ups of air bases in the region should be seen as a message “that the Islamic Republic of Iran is resolute in standing up to…bullying, and will respond to any possible evil decisively and strongly.”

“If they [Israel] take any action, they will hand us an excuse to wipe them off the face of the earth,” Hajizadeh said, according to state news agency IRNA.

The threat echoes an oft-repeated quote attributed to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that Israel must be “wiped off the map.” Ahmadinejad was actually quoting the Ayatollah Khomeini when he said the “regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time” — also translated as “wiped off the map.”

According to the Associated Press, Hajizadeh also said Israel is not capable of attacking Iran “since it was defeated by Hezbollah,” referring to the monthlong 2006 war between Israel and the Iran-backed Lebanese terrorist group.

      Do you know why we’re scared of Iran? Yes, partly because of their development of nuclear weapons. That‘s serious but lots of countries have nuclear weapons and we’re not afraid of them dropping bombs, including “communist” China. We’re scared of Iran because of their theocracy, a government ruled by religious people.

      When the rulers of a country get their directions from God – as though God sends special messages to leaders telling them what to do – that’s scary. Too many horrors have happened in the world because leaders thought God was directing them to invade this country or that, the US included. I don’t want a leader anywhere in the world who makes decisions based on what he thinks God is telling them, unless it’s a beneficent God telling the leader to help his or her people.

      Personally I don’t think Iranian leaders are so stupid as to think they could attack Israel, nuclear weapons or not. Certainly they know that would be the end of their own country as well. The world would rally against them and put and end to them. Unless, of course, the think God is telling them what to do. That‘s what’s scary.

      Israel DOES NOT WIN! There might be a temporary peace but the Israel of today which denys their God is finished. A believing remnant of Israel will be protected after they flee to the mountains. That is the only part of the nation Israel that will be saved. The rest of them will be destroyed by the Beast which they believe is their Messiah. And very few of us will survive. Keep on believing twisted interpretations of prophecy. The only ones of the rest of us to survive are the ones who learn to deny our own sinful natures and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. The word rapture isn’t in the Bible, however the word for it is caught up “snatched away” in the twinkling of an eye, represents whats about to happen. Does the Bible not tell us that Christians that put their faith in the Lord will be kept from the Tribulation? Thats how were kept from the Tribulation, and the Evils, thats about to hit the World.

      captaincrunch, you say we have to go through the Tribulation, correct? Why would God put us through the Tribulation? For what reason? Why does the Bible say the Dead in Christ will rise first then we who are alive in Christ will be caught up, to meet the Lord in the air! Why would God tell us this, and yet make us go through the rapture? Do you think there’s a post rapture before Jesus comes back? So does that mean we will go all the way through the rapture, then be caught up with our Lord to come back down on the same day? That makes No sense at all! Were caught up at the beginning, so we don’t have to experience any of the Bad stuff thats about to happen on Earth. Why would people want to believe in God if they had to go through the Trib? When they could make that choice after the trib and still be saved? It doesn’t make sense! Why would anyone do that? Thats why the Pre Trib is so Important! What about the Soles under the Alter, that God tells us they have to be there for a short time? The Soles from the Rapture are put there with the Dead in Christ after were Raptured. Were there for seven Years, then we end up coming back to Earth after the seven year Tribulation period. I can’t hardly wait. A good Prophecy Book is by Tim Lahaye Prophecy Study Bible. Check it out if ya get time. Its great for Studying. If you believe in Jesus, thats the main thing.

If that were the sequence Iran would be completely justified in responding anyway it chooses in its own defense. Ask the average American what they would do if we were attacked. People’s support of Israel, even if based on faith, is irrelevant in the discussion if Israel attacks first.

      It is infinitely rational for Iran to seek a nuke, given the accepted fact that Israel has them. Why isn’t the UN imposing economic sanctions on Israel to give up its nuke. A situation that would certainly reduce tension in the region and change the landscape with respect to possible outcomes if a serious conflict were to break out.

      As for me, I was at Ft Bragg when the Iranians attacked our Embassy….both times. Yeah, they took it briefly in ‘78, then we got it back. Carter failed to increase security and they took it again in ‘79. I remember those 444 days. Iran is not our ally, they are anything but our ally.

      By that argument Israel has been at war with Iran for decades after Iran used its proxies, Hezbollah, Syria, and Hamas, to repeatedly attack Israel on a near continuous basis. Therefore, Israel was more than justified in their response. One could even go farther since both Syria and Iran are proxies of Russia and China to argue that Israel is already at war, at the very least, with Russia and may be building towards one with China. Now THAT’S a stretch.

      Really Mary, Iran made itself Israel’s enemy long before Israel so much as bothered Iran.

      T have you heard that Russia and China have both moved troops into the Med? I guess they have also brought plenty of Tanks and equipment also. When Putin visited Israel, he told them he would broker a piece deal with Iran, Turkey, and Israel for some of Israels New Found Oil! Doesn’t the Bible say Gog and Magog will come down from the North like a Whirlwind? Now why would they want any part of Syria? I have heard Great Britian and US special forces are in Syria guarding the stock piles of Chemical and Bio weapons. I also heard prior to the Invasion of Iraq, Russia flew Charter plans with no seats into Iraq and then flew them to Syria under the guise of passenger jets! That makes more sense when I see China and Russia massing troops in Syria! Turkey, is also massing troops along the boarder getting ready to move into Syria. Man talk about a Great book to read, the Bible. Its like word for word on whats taking place, and who the players are, getting ready for War.

    The timining of what is happening in the middle east is moving around the US election. If Israel strikes Iran to take out their nuke capabilities they need to do it before the US elections, Obama will be reluctant to slam Israel because he wants the Jewish vote. Iran knows this and Israel has to do something before Iran has the bomb, then we are all in deep trouble. Iran has made it clear it wants to wipe out the big satan and the little satan. So don’t think Iran loves Americans, they may love Obama, but generally not Americans, seeing we are the big satan.

      Interesting that you bring that up MONK, I’m surprised that the likes of the OWS and other libs have not put this program in their sights already, for disruption.
      How’s it going tonight. We just caught the edge of storm that knocked our cable out for almost an hour. At least we are back on the net now. The rain was welcome though. The temp dropped from 102 to 76 in a matter of minutes. Its just back in the 80s now though.

      Hey MONK, Your requests obviously worked. Been anywhere up to 106 the last few days. Heck, the cats didn’t even want to go outside. Thanks for wishing that rain here after all. Hit at the best time in the evening. Otherwise it would have turned into a steamy mess had it been earlier in the day. I remember those daily July rains in Tampa back in the day. It used to amaze me back then that an hour later you could not tell that it had ever rained. Anyway, it’s comfortable outside again now, and many thanks. Hope it’s nice down there right now too.

    Let’s examine the clear Israeli government historical record. They have not attacked on an Offensive matter another bordering country. So far all attacks militarially have been done by Islamic countries at Israel.
    Has Israel attacked a border country. Yes, they have but in defense of the people of Israel who have been repeatedly attacked by radical extremists of Islamic countries. Those same countries that turn a blind eye on radicals hiding in residential area, firing weapons from schools, or hospitals. Cowards hiding in sensative areas so that return fire gets the mass media coverage from western countries calling out Israel for killing innocent Muslims. Really? Innocent, really? Bordering Islamic countries permitting radical extremists to fire weapons into Israel, then shrug their shoulders, “wasn’t me”.

    So another example of radical Islam boldly hiding behind his Momma’s skirt saying he would “wipe Israel off the map”. Nice try dufus. You know that Israel only wants peace, and the whole Middle East situation would be nil and non existant except for radical Islam. What’s more galling is western countries permitting Islam to spread their filth in freedom speaking countries. The moderate Muslims are permitting radicals to push there demented version of coexistence.
    Jerusalem is being hijacked by Islam as “their” own. All others excluded. Sorry Islam, you are the least of all religions who can find Jerusalem as a homeplace for their roots. Jerusalem belongs

    1. The embargo already is full of holes, as India and China are getting oil from Iran (due to Obama).
    2. The nutcase leading Iran wants blood on a massive scale for the 12th Imadi’s return
    3. Iran CAN launch a massive strike w/conventional or unconventional missile warheads.
    4. Israel can respond with conventional or thermonuclear devices.
    5. Obama is still allied with the nutcases leading Iran.

      whatever our policy is towards iran, we must acknowledge that if they seek a nuclear weapon – it is rational for them think to…. The US has been planting or supporting violent revolutions across the middle east for a long time. Also, we seem to invade countries that dont have nuclear weapons. We do not invade or meddle in countries with nuclear weapons (think N korea/pakistan). We shouldnt be surprised if they move towards nuclear weapons – any country would in that situation

The New Testament tells you that at the time of Christ‘s death the temple was destroyed and the Shroud that hung in the temple as a sign of God’s covenant with the Jews was torn. This was because God’s chosen people were no more and those that accepted his Son as their saviour are now the chosen ones.
