Wis. Gov. Responds to Egypt Camparisons: ‘Typical’ Backwards ‘Rhetoric’

All week, Wisconsin has been characterized as microsim of Egypt, and Wisconsin’s governor, Scott Walker, has endured comparisons to Hitler and former Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak. On Friday he sat down with the Wisconsin-based MacIver Institute to respond to those comparisons.

According to him, the attacks are “typical” of the backwards rhetoric coming from those opposing the tough decisions he‘s had to make in order to balance the state’s budget.

The interview excerpt comes at about 1:20 below:

not sure where I can post this, but it is interesting and noone is reporting on it. I received this message on Facebook from the “April 6th Youth Movement” (One on the organizers of the Egypt revolt). They are not calling for democracy, they mention they want a “technocracy”. What is that? I get very vague explanations when I Yahoo! it. Below is the message they sent to me verbatim:

We call on all Egyptians to join us in Tahrir Square on Tuesday, 22 of February, in our demonstration for the implementation of the demands of ou revolution….

    -Acquitting the current government.

    -Abolition of the Emergency law.

    - The Release of all Detainees.

-The formation of a presidential council, including civilians, and fair judges.

    - Retribution of all the media figures that have contributed in killing our martyrs.

-Acquiting the state security apparatus and restructuring of the Ministry of Interior as well as all of the NDP headquarters

-Forming a new technocratic government .

-ِAquitting the government led by Ahmed Shafik, which includes the foul faces that have a history of corruption such as Mufid Shehab \ Aisha Abdel Hadi \ Faiza Abu Naga \ Sameh Fahmi \ Ali Meselhi \ Mahmoud Wagdy, to be dismissed and Mhakthm and the formation of a new technocratic government.

Technocratic government: is a specialized government , which doesn’t belong to any party, this government is used in the case of political differences.

Yes they are similiar. Both organized, filled with violent rhetoric and name calling, and not about democracy. Beyond that it’s just another typical union not willing to give any concessions, paid way more than a similar job in the private sector and not wanting to share in ANY of the market forces that the majority of people face working for a company. We see what is happening around the world and know what the unions are all about. Case in point, the UAW. CASE CLOSED.

CAIRO WAS NOT NONVIOLENT. This is not about civil rights. If anything it is about the civil rights of the tax payers. These teachers are bullies!

The voters of Wisconsin are the voices the Governor needs to listen to. These protesters brought in by Unions do not represent the people who voted this man into office. They, and the run away Democrat Reps, are attempting to stop the process that runs our country. The people who live in Wisconsin knew what they were getting when they voted for this man. You can’t get blood out of a turnip. If the money isn’t there, it isn’t there!

Public sector workers are just one piece of the bankruptcy wall which must be dismantled. Also on the floor for reform are lifetime giveaways at taxpayer expense like Medicaid, heat subsidies, food stamps, agriculture subsidies, and all manner of federal money flowing to cities and states in exchange for certain behaviors. Get rid of it all. Educational decisions belong in the local community, not in DC. The feds are not capable or trustworthy to be in charge of our money or our life decisions. Obama….worry about the budget, the wars and the borders. That’s more than you can handle. Leave the states alone. Hang tough, Governor!

Absolutely, the Feds have way overstepped their bounds! The 17th amendment that changed the way State Senators are elected is a primary cause. The State legislature USED to pick who they wanted to represent the State in DC. The pro being that they would be actually representing the people of the state and have a major check on them, and how they voted.
The Feds should protect us and build roads. PERIOD. Go Gov. Walker!
