Wis. Gov. Fires Back at Obama: He Should Focus on Balancing His Own Budget

Appearing on “Fox & Friends” this morning, Wis. Gov. Scott Walker responded to President Obama’s recent comments that Walker’s budget proposal was an “assault on unions.” Walker’s response was a sort of stay-out-of-our-business quip.
“We’re focused on balancing our budget, it would be wise for the president and others in Washington to focus on balancing their budget, which they’re a long way from doing.”
The comments come at about 3:00 minutes below, but the entire interview is worth watching:
Walker‘s comments are especially relevant considering the president’s budget has come under heavy fire since he submitted it on Monday. Even Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner admitted yesterday that spending contained in that budget is “unsustainable.”

Posted on February 18, 2011 at 12:15pmIf Walker planned raising taxes to pamper the unions, Obow would be all for it. Hmmmm….maybe that’s the way to get WI Dem senators back to Madison: say there’s an idea to raise taxes to cover shortfalls. Those guys would be back at their jobs faster than Scotty can beam up Captain Kirk.

Let me get this straight: Walker is gov since January 3 of this year. In a month or so, he drove Wisconsin to $ billion in debt because of Wal-Mart–is that what you’re trying to say here? I didn’t know Wal-Mart could make enough in Wisconsin to owe that kind of money.
If you’re referring to Wal-Mart owing $17 million dollars in back taxes to Madison, that was for the tax years 1997-1999. That story appeared in 2007–about four years ago (guess who wasn’t the gov back then?)
Report Post »UpstateNYConservative
Posted on February 18, 2011 at 2:13pmAnother tidbit, just for my own amusement: Wal-Mart profits for 2009: $4.63 billion. That’s just about how much WI is in total debt.
Ah–that old devil, math.

Posted on February 18, 2011 at 12:19pmYou are right. They will hate that. And not just because it is highly offensive and polarizing. But because it is factually and/or logically wrong for multiple reasons. First, Obama is not Muslim. Second, whether the federal budget, which Bush took from surplus to big deficit before he entered office, is in the black or red doesn’t disallow the President from commenting on WI. Third, the issue concerning liberals in WI has nothing to do with spending, but with collective bargaining rights, which is not related to the federal deficit–that is a total non-sequitur.

Typical LIberal tactic. You can’t abide by the truth, you have to Bash Bush, redirect. It has everything to do with Obama sticking his nose in where it doesn’t belong. He can’t help it. Did it with the Cambridge Ma Police, the state of AZ, and now here. Especially when he has spent Trillins for nothing. Now he wants to lecture on how states should fix their budget?

Posted on February 18, 2011 at 12:37pmI don‘t know if obama’s a muslim or not. What I do know is that he’s a Chronic Liar..
Report Post »abc
Posted on February 18, 2011 at 1:40pmYour response, with all due respect, is incoherent:
“@ABC, I was right…the left hates the truth.”
I don’t think such a generalization can ever hold, since there are too many liberals who present truthful accounts and facts.
“The fact is that Obama should stay out of state business, weather it is AZ, or WI.”
Attacking the collective bargaining rights of a union is not exclusively state business, and as a free speech matter, the President is in any case free to comment on it.
“Plus the fact you didn’t say I Was wrong. You tried to Justify it with “Bash Bush” time.”
Okay, this is just absurd. I never blamed Bush for the last two years, but I AM blaming him for the prior 8. And you are not allowed to ignore or deflect the rightful blame he deserves for causing a huge increase in the public debt by simply saying that I am engaging in Bush-bashing. He deserves to be bashed, since the huge increase in debt occurred on his watch. You cannot make ad hominem attacks on liberals who are correctly stating the wrong that he did. As it relates to this specific issue, conservatives didn‘t tell Bush to get his ducks in a row before arguing that CA couldn’t pass stiffer environmental laws that he claimed would slow economic growth. And you are not allowed to show that hypocrisy (as a group, admittedly) but then imply that (by “his ducks”) that the budget problems the federal government faces today are his problem only. The last two years should not hide the huge ills of the prior 8 years.
“Typical LIberal tactic. You can’t abide by the truth, you have to Bash Bush, redirect.”
It is not redirecting to point out what Bush did and how that has contributed to the current mess. It is redirecting to pretend that the entire fiscal mess we‘re in now is obama’s fault. And that is what you, as a conservative are doing, while I am placing blame on each where it belongs, all the while pointing out that teh President‘s concern isn’t even about the budget. it’s about union rights to organize.
“It has everything to do with Obama sticking his nose in where it doesn’t belong.”
It does belong. First amendment. Federal/national interest in rights of unions to organize. Nice try.
“He can’t help it. Did it with the Cambridge Ma Police, the state of AZ, and now here.”
That was about race, another national issue, which he is free to speak on. Wow. You must think that the President should have a gag order placed upon him. Did you feel the same way about other Presidents? Was it about proper jurisdiction? Or is it just about the message? How principled of you…
“Especially when he has spent Trillins for nothing.”
What trillions? His policies totalled less than $2T (TARP plus stimulus), while the rest of that deficit had to do with the recession and would have occurred under any President. You’re revealing yourself as knowing little about economics. Meanwhile, Bush spent $2T off balance sheet to fund wars, and he signed Medicare part-D (passed by a GOP Congress), which according to Republicans, will add $32T to our debt. You confuse debt and deficits, automatic stabilizers with actual spending bills, so your account is as confused as it is incorrect. Nice try.
“Now he wants to lecture on how states should fix their budget?”
I know it’s hard to understand, when you want to insist on your straw man argument, but Obama’s comments were about union organization, not spending cuts. When will you open your ears and hear what is said?
“Seriously. You do know that smoking crack is against the law.”
I could write more coherently and think more clearly than you even if I were really smoking crack. Nice try with the ad hominems.

Encinom, Walker is a true patriot, you are a true idiot. Where do I begin? First of all, Walker did not give away the budget surplus. He took on this mess from our last governor. Second, he did not give anything to the wealthy 2%. Letting people keep their hard earned money instead of taxing them for it is not giving it to them. Is he trying to bust the union? God I hope so. It’s about time someone busted those crooks who are putting our state and many others into bankruptcy. Again with the wealthy comments? Believe me, the wealthy pay their fair share of health care and put money into their pensions unlike the state employees who pay virtually NOTHING for their pensions and very little for health care. The Wisconsin TAX PAYERS have been giving them a free ride and it’s time they paid their fair share and stop riding in on the tax payers coattails. Get a clue Encinom or get lost.

Posted on February 18, 2011 at 4:01pmKeep your eyes peeled everyone, there is a lawsuit quietly creeping into the FED supreme court litigating Obama’s legitimacy to be POTUS. I have seen what is said to be his actual birth cert and guess what? It’s NOT from hawaii. It’s from… you guessed it, KENYA. It’s going to happen, this guy will be found illigitimate and everything he’s done and signed will be struck as null and void.

Unlike Obama who walks and talks like a wind up sissy doll…

Official statement from Tea Party Patriot founders Jenny Beth Martin and Mark Meckler
“In the current situation in Wisconsin, we see Democratic politicians and their constituency standing against democracy. Instead of responding to the will of the people, Democratic legislators are in hiding, and refusing to show for a vote which they are certain to lose. Teachers have closed down the schools. Union thugs have overrun the capitol and are damaging property, and carrying signs with crude abuse and threats. Meanwhile, instead of acting “Presidential” and calling for a restoration of the democratic process, civility and decency, the President and his Organizing for America are actually standing against democracy in Wisconsin.
In summary, here is what we see in Wisconsin ; Democratic legislators in hiding and not legislating, teachers on sick-out and not teaching, and students out of school and not learning. Most importantly, we see our President, who is supposed to be a leader, not “leading.” Is it any wonder that public opinion has turned against the President, the Democrats, public employee unions and their thugs?”
