GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — A Green Bay, Wis., woman opened a Christmas present from her children to find a refurbished vacuum – and a load of drugs.
Authorities say the woman found 2 pounds of crystal methamphetamine and 2.2 pounds of cocaine shrink wrapped inside the box. Sheriff‘s officials estimate the drugs’ street value at about $280,000.
Lt. David Poteat (poh-TEET) tells the Green Bay Press-Gazette that a smuggler likely put the drugs in the box before it was shipped from the Juarez, Mexico, area, where it had been reconditioned.
Poteat says no one noticed anything, including the department store where it was purchased, until the woman opened the package.
Sheriff’s officials say the store is cooperating with the investigation.

Posted on January 17, 2011 at 7:03pmThe only way to win the war on drugs is too take the profit out of it… The Government already runs their methadone clinics. If that’s okay then why not the rest of it? Cut crime, take ‘pushing’ out of the equation, multiply the penalties for open air usage AND street dealing. It will go away from the streets in large part, thus removing it from the kids. Not perfect, but at least it’s not the same insanity we go about now..

Posted on January 16, 2011 at 9:08amI would surmise some person/s in the US store is colluding w/ drug dealers at the Mexican refurbishing shop ,where the drug dealers pay the workers there to pack the dope in the machines for shipment back to the store.
Report Post »That person/s dropped the ball in the US store by forgetting to remember to open the box before it was delivered to the owner.. I bet the drug dealer/s will fire him/them. Or even worse.
He/she/they better start running for the border. Um! . the “Other” border.
Since many of US did not know appliances are shipped to Mexico for re-furbishing, I bet this is not a one time incidence in this US store and quite possibly, many other US stores.
This scenario could be an epidemic.
But!! You can’t blame the drug dealers. They are not letting a good crisis/crises (broken US appliances) go to waste.

Why is it we never hear anything about what it would take for Mexico to create any kind of economy for itself ? Republican / Democrat , close it leave it open !
