‘With Malice Toward None’: Beck Calls for Individual Responsibility to Solve Collective Problems at Values Voter Summit

Speaking at the Values Voter Summit in Washington Saturday, Glenn Beck received rousing cheers as he encouraged the crowd to bear in mind the words of Lincoln: “With malice toward none.”

Beck declared that America is under assault from Muslim extremists abroad and anti-capitalists at home. He reminded the audience that the problems America faces now have escalated to levels that he predicted and was ridiculed for trumpeting over the past two years.

That said, Beck emphasized paths that may still offer productive ways out. In front of the invigorated crowd, Beck declared that, as Americans, it is time to reclaim our history, reclaim our intuition, strive for what is great rather than what is easy, and to “restore ourselves first to the rightful place as a powerful son or daughter of the all-powerful living God.”

He reminded the crowd that it is easy to not do anything and sit in parks for several weeks holding signs, to be part of the “funemployed,“ to expect free stuff and to have ”no intention of getting a job.” Beck suggested it is easy to listen to the likes of Cornel West and Frances Fox Piven, as it is easy to listen to those who point fingers, but more difficult to do the right thing.

“If they’re forcing people into the student loans, maybe we should talk to the people who are actually doing it, the one’s who are actually responsible, and that would be our university system,” Beck stated. “They are are the only ones who can effect the price of student eduction.”

He suggested that while the problems of our time face the collective, they can only be solved by individuals taking responsibility for themselves.

“There is a storm coming of biblical proportions,” Beck warned of the Occupy Wall Street movement, flash mobs and those who call for the redistribution of wealth. “They all want to take. They all want revenge. That’s not who we are.”

“We are good, and we’re just waiting for the opportunity to be good,” said Beck of Americans. “I intend in the next year, while everybody is busy on politics, to give America that opportunity to be good, and in turn, be great again.”

Beck promised the audience that when they need help, “Mercury [Beck's company Mercury Radio Arts] will be there.”

To a standing ovation, he called for attention, as well as an end, to the conflicts of our time. Beck berated the “religious war” declared by radical Islam, “the race war” led by groups like the New Black Panthers and “the political war between the political parties and the American people.”

Over thunderous applause, Beck called for an end to the war between “the media and the truth.”

“There is no such thing as collective salvation, it is only individual salvation.”

In closing, Beck reminded the crowd that every generation must rise up to answer the same question: Can man rule himself?

“I suggest the answer is, ‘Yes.’ It is our turn to answer it. We have been born for times such as this.”

“By doing the small and simple things, by accepting the responsibilities that make each of us good, it will in turn make America great again,” he said. “It will again define American excpetionalism for anyone in this city who may need a refresher on that.”

Beck’s full (39:00) address is available at The Right Scoop.

I do know someone who survived the Nazi’s because she was blonde and blue eyed. She has told me some horror stories but she did not turn out like George Soros. Look up Soros words on the feeling of power he derived from helping the Nazis. Progressives who don‘t like Glenn’s religion must not like Harry Reid’s either as he is a Mormon too. Glenn does “good works” with his money while Reid likes to take everybody‘s else’s and redistribute it. The Bible says “by their fruits ye shall know them”. If a person believes in doing good works on their own dime and time, I say God Bless them. Just don‘t do your good works with everyone else’s money and their time.

      CLEARHEAD ———

BULL! Mormon – non Mormon. What difference does religion make? All it does is DIVIDE folks into various beliefs about stuff in the past – about which you can do nothing to change. Glenn preaches MALICE! Just listen to him. EVERYONE with whom he disagrees if a fascist, a communist or a Nazi or a socialist. Are these people REALLY what he says they are? Or do you simply believe it because you are easily led – and NOT a leader yourself? Listen to him! If someone suggests that ‘social justice’, medical care, help getting a job, diplomacy towards those who don’t like the US very much – they are ALL fascists, Nazis, Communists, Socialists according to Glenn. Is Glenn the ONLY person who can judge others? Is he ALWAYS right??.

We have just been hearing about this pastor in Texas who claims that Mormonism is a ‘cult’. Is it? Is Catholicism a cult? Is Judaism a cult? Is Southern Babtist a cult?? How does Glenn feel about being part of a cult. A cult being something where followere worship the leader to the point of being submissive (look up Jonestown) – and in this instance Glenn is the leader of his own cult – and you guys are like the Jim Jones followers. You believe EVERY word the man says. HE is his own biggest promoter (while a really good person is good even when nobody can see or hear him) – Flenn tells you what to do – and you do it. He thrives on – and makes $Millions on your worship – all the while preaching M

What we also know is that without Gods hand in this it will be just a nasty mess that will never get any better. The God of Abraham will prevail… his true followers will have trials and tribulations but in the end they will be victorious.

VINCE VEGA, your ignorance of “Christianity” is transparent and so obvious as it relates to doctrine. your claim is quite without merit seeing you have no foundation on how one is saved. With this you go after “biblethumper” and I do not know his doctrinal stance and I’m not with understanding of who he is and his positional stance of salvation is, yet you have no place to come against him, seeing your a self proclaimed “atheist”. As one who can not comprehend the understanding of the salvation of Christ without works, Your current “hero” Glenn Beck relies on works like all those who are religious and contrary to God.

Let’s get this straight Glenn is a Mormon and the tradition of Mormons they are contrary to the gift of God and rely on the work and as well are possitoning themselves as the “chosen ones” and claim themselves of the law and flesh for salvation. Those who are not religious but put their faith in Christ for salvation without works thus he “Glenn” and those like him who wish to put man in bondage like his fathers before him are a curse and mislead people to follow his own works for proof of his or her salvation. Let’s stop worshipping him or anyone for salvation of either the nation or ones soul. We are not save collectively but individually. You keep holding on to your end and please stop contributing to how one is saved and to “religion” seeing both are a waste baste on your Godless position, you really don’t have much to offer.

@ olddog – We don’t want the military to intervene. That would be illegal! The military cannot act as police within the United States. Our Constitution forbids it unless Congress authorizes it. Sheeple are people who follow people without investigating the people (or the purpose behind the people). There are sheeple here, on this site, too (not pointing fingers at you). 9 out of 10 times, local law enforcement gets violent before protestors. We never stopped being responsible and while we grew older, we have noticed people becoming more and more lazy, irresponsible as well as ignorant, arrogant and even many times rude to others for no apparent reason. Throughout the years, we do what we’ve done for most of our lives, to be considerate to others. IF someone shoves ahead of you, you let them go without making a big deal about it (blessed are the peacemakers). If someone cuts us off or parks a shopping cart behind our car, we just take it back to the store along with the shopping cart we brought out. We just try to keep the peace. We wait our turn without complaint or blame. These are things we learned back in the day and it works. But we’ve seen a change in people, no patience, quick to judge, everything the Bible said Never to do. Bible says to be long-suffering, patient and NEVER be quick to judge others. I think that’s the problem, the people who have changed have not studied the Bible and/or do not look at it as the Word of God with reverence. BUT …we will continue to be considerate, patient and long suffering as they grow more and more ignorant and arrogant as long as they ignore the Words of God that teaches us His Love and His Truths.

And you, dear friend. But I am as serious as a heart attack… Beck’s underlying principle was sound. We used to phrase it “Kill them with kindness.” I’ve been thinking a lot about the differences between Tea Party & OWS, and aside from the glaring ones (Did you see the pic of the kid cr*pping on the police car? OMG!) I was wondering how we might bring it into stark relief. A counter protest would only antagonize them, but leaving kindness, quietly, like a grocery bag, with a bar of soap (!) a bottle of water and a note with a promise to help them craft a resume package and be of help would pop a lot of neurons… I dunno. I’m just grasping at straws here, hoping to calm a boiling cauldren. I got a bad feeling about these things… They may die down with the snow, but I fear next summer. A LOT.

Remember the bag of groceries w/the note “From a Tea Party member” Beck encouraged us to deliver in April? I’m thinking it might be time for that again – as originally intended, AND to our filthy friends protesting. How about a grocery bag to them with a note to help them write their resume? Seriously! Confuse them right out of their violent impulses…

      Wonderful ideas Annie!

I loved the inspirational speech Glenn Beck gave .. very inspiring. He was born for times such as these and I’m thankful for him.

That’s a great idea and much nicer than my knee jerk reaction which was to find a way to make them even more miserable than they already are. So I say a prayer instead and ask God to calm my anger at so much blatant stupidity run amok. I believe the majority of the protesters are simply “misguided” and I’m sure they believe the same about me.
