“The Senator,”a 125-foot, 3,500-year-old cypress tree in Longwood, Fla., was no more after a woman, found to be in possession of methamphetamine, allegedly burned it down.

According to local reports, 26-year-old Sara Barnes and a friend were inside a part of the tree’s hollowed out trunk when they started a fire because they wanted to see better. A search of Barnes’ home revealed meth and other drug-related paraphernalia, for which she is being charged with possession and intent to sell. WTSP also reported that 41-year-old Jodi Hill was arrested for methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia possession, but it is unclear if she was involved in the burning of the tree.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Barnes as allegedly saying to her friends “I can’t believe I burned down a tree older then Jesus.”

Watch the local news report:

WTSP states that the burning and eventual collapse of the tree took place in January but tips of pictures taken by Barnes that she reportedly posted on her laptop lead police to obtain a search warrant. Police are searching both Barnes cellphone and laptop for evidence of the tree burning pictures.

An apt metaphor for the effects of drugs on individuals and societies.

And yet Libertarians want to legalize this? They claim it’s all gonna be hunky-dorey because it’s all “victimless”. Yeah, whatever ya dumbazzes. Honest to God, people don’t know the difference between right and wrong anymore and this woman is living proof of that.

she’s a ding-bat on several fronts… the age of Jesus.. before Abraham and even before the world was, there was the Word, the Word was with God, the Word was God, the Word became flesh (Jesus Christ) and dwelt among men.. the age of Jesus = the Beginning (and End). class dismissed.

Anyone caught using these drugs “street drugs” should be shown the movie Act of Valor. The horrors of what these drugs support should cause anyone with half a brain left to stop cold.
