The thought is painful. A woman in Phoenix accidentally put drops of super glue in her eyes after she confused the bottle for eye drops.

Posted on October 6, 2010 at 12:17pmAll I can think about is Bill Engvall…Here’s your sign…..Then there was the guy with the 18-wheeler… Wouldn’t ya know he misjudged the height of the overpass… The truck got stuck and he couldn’t get it out no matter how he tried. He radioed in for help and eventually a local cop shows up to take the report. He went through his basic questioning.. ok.. no problem. The guy thought, “He can’t say it, he’s a paid official…” He thought sure he was clear of needing a sign… until the cop asked “So.. is your truck stuck?” The guy couldn’t help himself! He looked at the cop, looked back at the rig and then back at the cop and said “No I was delivering this overpass and my truck stalled… here’s your sign.”

Posted on October 6, 2010 at 12:11pmThis is not the first time I have heard of this. About a year and a half ago, here in SW Mississippi, a friend of mine called to tell me the neighbor had come running up to her house asking for help because his friend had done the same thing. They had no car and needed help to get to the hospital. The elderly woman in this case went to the emergency room and they helped her, I wish I knew how. My friend left the hospital before they had finished because she was not needed anymore and I forgot about it until now.

Posted on October 6, 2010 at 12:04pmWhy the rush to judgement on this poor woman? I draw the line if she files a lawsuit seeking compensation for her mistake, but otherwise wish her well and pray she suffers no long term damage.

Posted on October 6, 2010 at 11:46amA few years ago, my 7 year old daughter split her forehead right over her eye. The physician offered her either stitches or the superglue meant for closing wounds. We opted for the glue and were shocked when the glue got into my child’s eye and glued it shut! The doctor didn’t realize that it was trickling down into her eye. It took 2 days for the glue to let go and multiple applications of petroleum-based Neosporin to break down the glue (the manufacturer’s suggested solution to the problem). This glue is dangerous stuff. Perhaps the bottle should be retooled to not resemble eyedrops.

Posted on October 6, 2010 at 12:13pmmaybe the eye drop company should change their bottles? why does it have to be the super glue? Is it really coming to the point where stores need to do an IQ test on people before they can buy something…I would like to buy this loaf of bread…sir what are you going to do with this bread.? I am going to make a sandwich..ok your good..I would like to buy bread too…OK and what are you going to do with the bread? ……I’m going to shove it up my own anus and sue mr bairds =)

Posted on October 6, 2010 at 11:32amWait for it…. Wait for it…. Super Glue will now be mandated to display a warning label that its NOT Eye Drops. They may even require that it be put behind the counter like they have done for the only effective cold meds.

Posted on October 6, 2010 at 11:31amHow about going after the eye drops company for making their packaging look like super glue? I mean, really, what are you more likely to have in your house? Here’s another brainstorm — don’t keep your super glue in your medicine cabinet!! Why is someone else ALWAYS to blame for our errors? Take responsibility lady!

Posted on October 6, 2010 at 11:36amI’m 60 with bad eyes too, but you NEVER put glue near eye drops. The brain is going not just the eyes. Everything is ALWAYS someone elses fault. God it’s sickening.

My super glue is in that misc. gadget drawer in the kitchen or on the work bench in the garage.

Posted on October 6, 2010 at 6:04pmThough I keep the super glue somewhere else, I do have it in the same drawer as the makeup only because I use it to fix broken nails. It’s where the nailpolish is……so I probably could be sarcastic and agree with the lawsuit comments (especially working with insurance claims daily) but I guess I could imagine a reason she’d have things close together.

Report Post »Stupid does not excuse personal responsibility. Notice she didn’t say what she had used the glue for, or why she did not put it away correctly. She only says repeatedly that the bottles are “identical” and someone should do something.

Posted on October 6, 2010 at 11:08amIt’s a true shame marketing dept.s in these corporations don’t take it upon themselves to change the way they pacakage things, after things happen to people with their products….Now, we have a government that could easily force them to do something….That is the true sad story…more opportunities for government intervention and less corporations taking responsibility for their actions until they are forced too…maybe and most likely it’s a conspiracy? ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY!

Posted on October 6, 2010 at 12:07pmSadly I read a story a while back ago that sounded like the plot of a American pie movie. Where a gay couple accidentally used rubber cement instead of a personal lube………just tells me alot of idiots out there don’t know how to read. The companies that make super glue are not at fault here it is once again fallen on the shoulders of stupid people. Is it a wonder they have to put warning labels on stuff like hair dryer saying don’t use in the shower…..or signs under the hood of your car saying don’t remove the fan belt when engine is running? this is common sense people and for some people its not so common……survival of the fittest natures law…
