Workers With Obama Stickers Use ‘Dark Knight’ Premiere in VA to Register Voters…at 3 AM

Large crowds exited the Hoffman AMC megaplex in Alexandria, Virginia, early Friday morning, elated but exhausted after the midnight premier of “The Dark Knight Rises.” Some had been in the theater for over nine hours, basking in a special IMAX showing of the entire trilogy. As the throng, many caped and costumed, exited the theater a little after 3 a.m. ET they were met with a surprising solicitation.
At least five people were camped outside attempting to register voters as the tired, greatly under-30 crowd exited the theater. Virginia, it should be noted, is a swing state heavily targeted by the Obama and Romney campaigns.
“Are you registered to vote?” one drive worker asked, as witnessed by this author. ”Have you changed where you live recently? You may need to re-register,” another young girl, clutching a wooden clipboard packed with voter applications and adorning an Obama sticker on the back, said. Some of them, according to patrons, were seen distributing similar Obama campaign stickers.
Cory Crowley, a moviegoer and Virginia resident, described the scene to TheBlaze: “Here I had been in the theater for some seven hours and in the middle of the night [and] I’m met with a clipboard with stickers all over it on the way to my car,” adding, “I was asked three times to register to vote.”
When asked if the solicitation seemed partisan, Crowley noted, “Yes, they had blatant Obama stickers.”
The Blaze asked one of the solicitors what they were doing outside the theater at such an extreme time: “We’re registering voters! There are many young people who go to this kind of stuff and it’s important to get to them when you can.”
“There were at least five people with Obama clipboards out here tonight,” says Arlington resident Louis Tartaglia. “I didn’t think it was the best time or place to be registering voters.”
Batman aficionado and DC consultant Tommy Sears had been in the theater for 10 hours watching the Batman trilogy and said the voter push seemed partisan..
“It was obviously partisan, I mean thy had Obama stickers on their clipboards,” Sears told TheBlaze. “I was not in the mood and just wanted to avoid the whole thing.”
Still, another moviegoer, who asked not to be identified, said he was not bothered by the solicitation.
“If they were in the middle of the theater yelling it would be one thing but they were out on the side walk trying to get kids to register,” he said. “I’m sure they were not very successful.”
“I mean come on? This is Ridiculousness, really,” Tartaglia added. “In the end I really just feel bad for the kids volunteering for the campaign and someone says, ‘You got the midnight theater shift.’”
“People should be smart enough to register to vote. It seems desperate to me,” Crowly said. “I yelled ‘Go Mitt Romney!’ at them as I was walking to my car.”
“They are trying to get hip voters, The Dark Knight is what’s happening right now,” added Tartaglia. “They knew there will be a mass exodus around 3AM, seemed like they wanted to take advantage of that.”
Theater management said there were well over a thousand people in attendance last night when you combine the three sold-out midnight screenings.
Both the Virginia Democratic party and the Obama Campaign of Virginia have been contacted for comment on the story.

Would you please use you mind for a second and think about what happened here? There is absolutely no way these volunteers knew about the tragedy in Colorado. This has nothing to do with the murders last night. They were just trying to register voters. Why is that a bad thing?

Posted on July 20, 2012 at 8:00pmNo Soiled, you’re missing the big picture: Obama PLANNED the mass-murder beforehand, and sent his thugs out to register these poor moviegoers while they were still too traumatized to resist! See, it makes PERFECT sense!
Ugh, I need to take a shower…

Posted on July 20, 2012 at 10:43pmRegistering Democratic voters of course. They don’t have the means to even determine if the so called voter is qualified. However, Obama doesn’t care. His motto is vote now and often.

Posted on July 21, 2012 at 12:33amIt should have been stopped in light of the obvious higher reason.
The people could have just been doing their job, But, if they were afraid to leave…‘If’ ?…..I see that nobody called them to come back to headquarters. They certainly could have. There was selfish opportunity carried out.
Obama’s extended crew made pure tragedy, more shameful.

Posted on July 21, 2012 at 9:49amDidn’t make it tp the show. This Democrat along with wife and 3 sons and 3 daughter in-laws all Dems and voted for Hope & Change. Don’t like chanhe and have given up on hope. We are getting an average of 2 to 3 calls a day with surveys. We can tell that 70% are Democrats and we tell them we love Obama, give him A+ for a job well done and they just eat it up. We know that we aren’t the only ones doing this because everyone in America that has a job or had a job has been affected. Here in Oklahoma, Obama‘s EPA has shut down most drilling and you can’t get around them even if you have enough money to fight them. These young oil field workers all voted for Obama and are good friends to my sons and are ticked off. My sons told them what they were doing to the surveyors on the phone and they are doing it also.

Posted on July 20, 2012 at 3:55pmThese kids should have been at home and not out working free of charge like slaves for their Prez in a state where people will pass you by if you are passed out near a public bus stop. It could have waited for the day light hours. Let’s face it the youth of America are as dumb as dirt, some are decent kids, but they do not and cannot possible understand what the hell the nation is headed for or just how little they’ll be able to achieve by re-electing this man-child and the they will be the ones to live in the wake he leaves behind no matter who sits in that WH.

Posted on July 20, 2012 at 2:36pm“I’ll wrap this up by saying that while I understand conservatives’ objections to the way they’re portrayed in superhero comics, that’s very much a facile reading of superhero comics. Conservatives will always be the butt of jokes in superhero comics because of the writers writing them and the general lack of subtlety in superhero comics. And I even understand that it can become annoying when it’s constant, even though I don’t think it’s as prevalent as some people do. The dichotomy between what writers say in superhero comics and what superhero comics actually are is fairly interesting, though. Writers can have superheroes spout liberal thoughts all they want, but they can’t change the fact that superhero comics are conservative, and always will be conservative. Conservative people should take comfort in that even if, on the surface, they’re getting picked on. Liberal propaganda will never overcome that, no matter how hard those socialists try!”

Posted on July 20, 2012 at 2:26pm” I’ve argued before that Bruce Wayne could do far more to stop crime as Bruce Wayne than Batman, but while, pragmatically, that wouldn’t work for DC’s bottom line, Bruce is also the classic “liberal who’s been mugged” type of conservative. He doesn’t trust the police to make the city safe, so he takes the law into his own hands. He’s not that different from the Minutemen, to use a recent example. Superman specifically adopts a “conservative” viewpoint that humanity needs to rise themselves, without help from outside agencies like a Kryptonian alien. As I wrote above, most liberal writers can’t come up with any better government when superhumans take over than a left-wing dictatorship, which is what would happen if Superman decided to fix all the world’s problems. He is conscious of this ideal and therefore uses a relatively conservative viewpoint – each according to his or her means – to justify not going around solving world hunger. Again, this is because of DC’s bottom line, but in this regard, fictional universe concerns overlap with real-world publishing concerns – the superheroes must remain “conservative” so that DC and Marvel can keep publishing them.” http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2010/03/01/the-political-leanings-of-superhero-comics-revealed/

Posted on July 20, 2012 at 4:49pmID when you register. ID when you vote. Must keep the intregity of the election process to have a true representaion of and by the people. Don‘t give me the ’hardship’ it puts on the poor and minority. If voting was important to you you would scale mountians to get there. The dems seem to want to take all of life’s challanges, trials and hardships away for certian folks. No wonder, all the poor and minority special interest groups that the dems claim to have such compassion for have not had their lot improve one iota. And, yet, these same groups keep electing them.
I guess we just see things differently. A conservative sees someone hurting and they see what they can do to help. My time, my experience, my cash; depending on the need, I use MY resources to help. A liberal sees a problem and they spin it into a crisis, pass a law, fund a program in the everpresent ‘one-size-fits-all’ and sends me the bill. And, they then pat themselves on the backs on how compassionate they are. But, they never give of themselves or their resources. It always comes at a cost to the taxpayer. It is also evident in politicians and leaders in their tax returns. Conseratives give overwhelmingly more than liberals to charities. They are only compassionate when it doesn’t cost them a dime and they can get some good media out of the deal.

Posted on July 20, 2012 at 1:58pmIt does seem to be a desperate move, but if enough of these desperate moves take place, in my opinion, some of our unlettered countrymen will see it as, ” Wow, he really does care for us,”. If, as the rumors say, obama is going to declare an emergency to take over ALL communications, [ and it's successful] his next move would be to start dis-arming citizens. Can’t have a bunch of mis-informed red necks with guns running around. They might get the wrong impression about these moves he made, that is in the best interests of all Americans. After all[ as I have heard more than one politician say] we have to take these kind of measures because the American people don‘t really understand what’s best for them. So we, obama and cronies, are doing this for our poor, naive citizens because only we know what’s good for them. Oh yeah, those felonious, illegally armed red necks[not understanding] may do something stupid, like protect their freedoms or some other knock-knee cliche., by using their weapons, if we ALLOWED them to keep them. Inshallah shallalala, sumpin ‘ like that.

It is hard to change minds when you are disgusted by the people you are communicating with at the time.
