World’s Fastest Ferrari Plunges Into the Ocean

Driving 240mph, the world’s fastest Ferrari plunged into the Atlantic ocean after losing control at the Newfoundland Targa. The Sun has video of the rare Ferrari Enzo taking a dip at the Canadian event:

The car was driven by Zahir Rana, a supercar dealer from Calgary, who swam away with a co-driver unhurt after the crash.

“With speed comes a little bit of risk and this is what happens when you push and are into racing,” Rana told The Sun. “I was talking about doing something different to the car this winter and now I have no choice but I will make it a better and stronger car.”

Rana’s Enzo was tuned by the German firm Edo Competition, and could accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds, 0-124mph in 9 seconds and 0-186mph in 19 seconds before hitting a top speed of more than 240mph.

The car was recovered from the ocean, and had suffered just slight damage to the front bumper and wing, that can be fixed.

The Sun reports that a high number of Enzos have been lost in crashes and fires, pushing reselling prices up to and over $1.5 million. Other Enzo owners include Eric Clapton and Ralph Lauren.

I have to ask one thing. What good is a car that can go that fast when there are no longer roads that can be driven on safely?

Is it a metaphor for the so called elite in office and the state of the world they are ruining?

Indeed. We ended up with a Porsche house guest, due to a death in the family. Though the performance of this vehicle was absolutely insane (for a car), there was really no place to take advantage of it.

      Such a waste.

After the estate was cleared up, it moved on. Now, a Citation 10 is quite a different matter. Performance that can actually be used consistently is a good thing. It is probably one of the funest aircraft that I’ve driven, for exactly that reason.

      240 mph? Yawn.

You make a really good point of what happened to America’s Car industry. We get a participation star for making 65 mph ‘speed limit’ cars in an autobaun World..

I agree about the speed. However, the speed limits don‘t matter much when it’s not going any faster than the tow truck that’s towing it. LOL

Enzo’s now going for 1.6+mil (originally “just” 700k+ new) – pretty good investment if you’ve got that kind of cash laying around.

Not so much a Ferrari Enzo as a FXX. Much rarer than the Enzo, I think.

The Blaze posted this story because it’s kind of like a metaphor for the U.S. economy with Obama behind the wheel: The Enzo (the economy) is being driven by a poor driver (Obama), losing control and overcorrecting (stimuli) and inevitably crashing into the sea (recession, depression, unemployment) and will soon need to be pulled out by a crane (new conservative leader). Just sayin’.

One of the upgrades should be some sort of floatation system for the car itself. Either that, or add the goodies that would allow it to turn into a submarine like the James Bond cars used to.

As I come to the Blaze and scroll down through the stories — every time I notice that there is a human-interest type story posted — I know immediately that there is going to be the obligatory — “why is this here?”; “and I should be interested because”— type of comments.

Here’s a clue — if the story is not of interest to you — do not read it. More importantly, do not take the time to post. Just do not click the link.

Every story does not have to be about the liberals destroying the country, or the Muslims killed someone else today.

It is probably on the Blaze because it is attracting more younger folks–the 18 to 45 year olds– that would probably find the story interesting. Is there some rule that The Blaze can’t have a wide selection of topics? A number of young men in my family race cars so this is something I can talk to them about now.

May not be literally true anymore, but as George Carlin once noted, there are two knobs on the radio.

About The Blaze: “Our goal is to post, report and analyze stories of interest on a wide range of topics from politics and culture to faith and family.” (emphasis mine, if comments allow html tags)
