World’s Wealthiest Woman Tells People to Stop Envying the Rich & Work Harder, Gov’t Officials Flip Out

Australian mining tycoon Gina Rinehart on Thursday was heavily criticized by her government for saying people who want to be successful should stop being jealous of others, “spend less time drinking,” and work harder, AFP reports.

Assorted members of Australia’s government called her comments “insulting.”

Wait, “insulting”? What did multi-billionaire Rinehart say?

“There is no monopoly on becoming a millionaire,” she wrote in an article for an industry magazine.

“If you’re jealous of those with more money, don’t just sit there and complain. Do something to make more money yourself — spend less time drinking or smoking and socialising, and more time working,” she added.

“Become one of those people who work hard, invest and build, and at the same time create employment and opportunities for others.”

Suggesting that those who work harder, tend to get ahead in life isn’t exactly an outlandish assertion.

Rinehart also criticized what she referred to as “socialist” policies that have hurt the poor and recommended Australian politicians to lower the nation’s minimum wage and taxes.

“The terrible millionaires and billionaires can often invest in other countries… maybe their teenagers don’t get the cars they wanted, or a better beach house or maybe the holiday to Europe is cut short, but otherwise life goes on,” she wrote.

“The millionaires and billionaires who choose to invest in Australia are actually those who most help the poor and our young. This secret needs to be spread widely,” she added.

Of course, just like we would expect in the U.S., government officials slammed Rinehart’s anti-tax, pro-growth remarks.

“These sorts of comments are an insult to the millions of Australian workers who go to work and slog it out to feed the kids and pay the bills,” said Treasurer Wayne Swan, adding that Rinehart is incorrect to think that Australians as “lazy workers who drink and socialise too much.”

But Swan’s attack shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. He’s made a bit of a name for himself by attacking Australia’s mining tycoons.

“Swan has repeatedly attacked Rinehart, coal magnate Clive Palmer and iron ore baron Andrew Forrest for running ‘self-interested’ campaigns against the centre-left Labor government’s taxes on mining profits and pollution,” AFP reports.

And Swan is not alone in his disdain for the mining tycoon.

Health Minister Tanya Plibersek said it was “pretty easy for Gina Rinehart to say that people on the minimum wage should get paid less.”

The left-leaning Greens party ridiculed Rinehart for having “accumulated wealth from her family.”

True, she does come a well-to-do family, but her successes in the mining industry along with her uncanny ability to create wealth for herself and her employees might indicate that she is capable of doing a little more than coasting on inherited wealth.

And don’t forget the unions! According to Australia’s mining union, Rinehart’s article was “bizarre” and showed that she held a “dangerous” agenda.

“At the same time as trying to import cheap foreign labour and avoid paying tax, Rinehart claims it’s millionaires and billionaires who are the greatest for social good,” said Australian mining union president Tony Maher.

“What planet is she living on? She should spend less time ranting and more time sharing,” he added.

I recently ran across the children’s bed time story “The Little Red Hen”. Might be some good reading for the liberal/progessive/socialist jerks. It would put it all into perspective.

Sounds like Australia is producing a crop of brain dead liberals just like in the USA that will vote themselves a raise from the politicians that promise them the most handouts. That would be voters somewhat like this guy:

The Little Red Hen in Obamaville.
      Adapted by Chinishque
Once upon a time there was a little red hen. She lived with a pig, a duck and a cat.

They all lived in a pretty little house which the little red hen liked to keep clean and tidy. The little red hen worked hard at her jobs all day. The others never helped. Although they said they meant to, they were all far too lazy. The pig liked to grunt in the mud outside, the duck used to swim in the pond all day, and the cat enjoyed lying in the sun, purring.
One day the little red hen was working in the garden when she found a grain of corn.
“Who will plant this grain of corn?” she asked.
“Not I,” grunted the pig from his muddy patch in the garden.
“Not I,” quacked the duck from her pond.
“Not I,” purred the cat from his place in the sun.
So the little red hen went to look for a nice bit of earth, scratched it with her feet and planted the grain of corn.
During the summer the grain of corn grew. First it grew into a tall green stalk, then it ripened in the sun until it had turned a lovely golden colour. The little red hen saw that the corn was ready for cutting.
“Who will help me cut the corn?” asked the little red hen.
“Not I,” grunted the pig from his muddy patch in the garden.
“Not I,” quacked the duck from her pond.
“Not I,” purred the cat from his place in the sun.
“Very well then, I will cut it myself,” said the little red hen. Carefully she cut the stalk and took out all the grains of corn

“Who will take the corn to the mill, so that it can be ground into flour?” asked the little red hen.
“Not I,” grunted the pig from his muddy patch in the garden.
“Not I,” quacked the duck from her pond.
“Not I,” purred the cat from his place in the sun.

So the little red hen took the corn to the mill herself, and asked the miller if he would be so kind as to grind it into flour.
In time the miller sent a little bag of flour down to the house where the little red hen lived with the pig and the duck and the cat.
“Who will help me to make the flour into bread?” asked the little red hen.
“Not I,” grunted the pig from his muddy patch in the garden.
“Not I,” quacked the duck from her pond.
“Not I,” purred the cat from his place in the sun.
“Very well,” said the little red hen. “I shall make the bread myself.” She went into her neat little kitchen. She mixed the flour into dough. She kneaded the dough and put it into the oven to bake.
Soon there was a lovely smell of hot fresh bread. It filled all the corners of the house and wafted out into the garden. The pig came into the kitchen from his muddy patch in the garden, the duck came in from the pond and the cat left his place in the sun. When the little red hen opened the oven door the dough had risen up and had turned into the nicest, most delicious looking loaf of bread any of them had seen.
“Who is going to eat this bread?” asked the little red hen.
      “I will,” grunted the pig.

“Oh no, you won’t,” said the little red hen. “I planted the seed, I cut the corn, I took it to the mill to be made into flour, and I made the bread, all by myself. I shall now eat the loaf all by myself.”
The pig, the duck and the cat all stood and watched as the little red hen began to eat the loaf all by herself. The first bite was delicious but just then the Eagle swooped in from high above and looked at the scene of the little red hen eating her delicious bread with the cat, the pig and the duck watching her and they looked very hungry.
“Who’s bread is this?” asked the Eagle.
“It is mine.” said the little red hen.
“The others are hungry.” said the Eagle. “Why aren’t you sharing this bounty with them?”
“I asked them to help but none of them would.” said the little red hen as she prepared to take another bite. “I planted the seed, I cut the corn, I took it to the mill to be made into flour, and I made the bread all by myself.”
“You didn’t make that bread yourself!” said the Eagle. “Is not the land owned by all and what about the sun and the rain? Did not the community build the road on which you walked to the mill? Is not the mill a co-op built with funding from the community? And what of the gas that came through the pipeline that heated your stove to bake the bread? Is it not pumped from the ground the community owns? No, little red hen, you did not make that bread on your own.”

And with that statement the Eagle took the loaf of bread away from the little red hen and ripped it half and as he ate the first half he ripped the other into three equal parts and gave one to the pig who gobbled it up at once, one to the cat who purred as he ate it, and one to the duck who quacked in delight at the wonderful taste of the bread.
“But what about me?” said the little red hen. “Where is my piece?” “what of my labor?”
“You were greedy!” said the Eagle. “If you want your share then you will have to plant more seed, cut the corn, take it to mill, and bake it into bread, but the next time you will know that YOU did not make it and that it belongs to all. You will share it or again you will have none.”
The Eagle then leaped into the air and flew high above circling and watching. The pig went back to wallow in his mud, the cat back to lay in the sunny spot, and the duck back to swimming in the pond. All of them chuckling at the little red hen who had thought that she had made the bread herself.
“I will never make bread again or perform any kind of labor if others may reap but don’t have to work!” said the little red hen to herself. And true to her word she never cleaned the little house again and all the animals lived in filth. The very next winter all the animals starved to death for the lack of bread.

THanks for the Little Red Hen version that demonstrates what this country has turned in to under this President. By the way, for those ripping on Rhinehart – read the story. She said that those who are jealous or are complaining about not having money should work harder. Not everyone wants to be millionairs, but those that complain need to evaluate themselves and work for what you want. She may or may not have inherited money, but she’s still employing lots of people and helping the economy. That’s not good enough for socialist/communists who want to be like the Eagle and take from the rich to give to the lazy poor, but note that the communist Eagle took half of the loaf for himself!

I would say that you, and everyone who believes as you, will never become a millionaire. I grew up relatively poor, my wife is an immigrated from China. We met at work when we were 23 years old, both working as janitors. We both worked hard, and each got a promotion. We scrimped and saved for years, and bought our first house. When we sold it, we lost $19,000 on the sale. Our company had an ESOP program that took 20% of our pay for 7 years. After the 7 years they went bankrupt and took $150,000 of stock. My wife got cancer and had to quite work. I lost my job, then started a business that failed.

I always put 15% of my pay into my 401K. We invested our money, not always wisely, but we slugged on. I have now been married for 20 years. I am now worth a little less than $1 million. BTW, we still drive the first car we bought together, a 1994 Toyota Corolla.

I lived in Australia as a child in the 60′s. I remember my parents talking and saying that in Australia, you are critizied and put down for working hard to be something. It is a jealousy. At that time in Australia where I lived in the Hendra Brisbane area, there was a lot of anti American sentiment, yet, if it was not for the U.S.A helping them in World War 2 keeping Japan from invading, they would be eating rice. I was happy to get back to the U.S. in 1968 and have never gone back for a visit.

      This is an updated version.

The Little Red Hen Redux (2012)

Once upon a time, a lamb, a cat, a pig, and a little red hen lived on an old farm on a flowery hill surrounded by fields of golden wheat. One day, the Little Red Hen found some grains of wheat scattered in the barnyard. “Look what I’ve found!” she said to the other animals. “Who will help me plant these grains of wheat?”

“Not I!” said the lamb. “You’re taking jobs away from migrant workers who badly need them.”

“Not I!” said the cat. “You’re betraying feminist principles by engaging in menial labor.”

“Not I!” said the pig. “That wheat can’t be organic.”

“Then I’ll do it myself,” said the Little Red Hen. And so she did. She knew that seeds need water to grow tall and strong. “Who will help me water these seeds?” asked the Little Red Hen.

“Not I!” said the lamb. “You can’t use the pond water because the endangered snifflefish lives there.”

“Not I!” said the cat. “The water usage is restricted due to the drought.”

“Not I!” said the pig. “Your property rights do not extend to the water rights.”

“Then I’ll do it myself,” said the Little Red Hen. And so she did. The Little Red Hen watered the soil and waited patiently for the wheat to grow. When the wheat was tal

You’ve got Australia about right, a European-style socialist democracy…but there’s hope, there are sane conservatives too. Sadly, even the conservatives suffer from Obama-love because they are so dumbed-down by the pathetically left-biased news media, both Television and Print…they really just don’t know any better. Republicans and Romney/Ryan are depicted as ultra-extremist conservatives and not a kind word is said about them. On the other hand, Obama and the Democratic Party are depicted in glowing and positive terms…sane, measured, smart, articulate, mistreated by right-wing Republicans – victims. To show you how bad it is, just the other day a guy who identifies himself as a conservative Australian voter told me that he believed Obama was the greatest US President ever. I was left speechless.

2 Thessalonians 3:10 In fact, also, when we were with YOU, we used to give YOU this order: “If anyone does not want to work, neither let him eat.”11For we hear certain ones are walking disorderly among YOU, not working at all but meddling with what does not concern them.12To such persons we give the order and exhortation in [the] Lord Jesus Christ that by working with quietness they should eat food they themselves earn.

There are a lot of us who are the same people you like to poke fun at. The problem for you and Obama though is that we really don’t give a crap. We have learned how to think, we have learned how to work and we have learned that we do NOT want to live on a monthly allowance that the government says it can provide, AFTER it feeds the bureaucrats of course.

We are intelligent enough to understand that when Obama promises free stuff IT IS A LIE. Europe is absolute proof that it is a lie. If Greece, Spain, Portugal, Italy, etc were highly successful and prosperous countries we would not be able to say for certain that Obama is lying to you, but these countries are on the verge of financial collapse. The promises these governments made to the people in order to buy their votes have been proven to be lies. Obama is telling you the same lies yet you seem to lack the intelligence to understand that. I feel sorry for you. Hopefully there is enough intelligent life left in this country to get rid of Obama and everyone else who is willing to lie to us to obtain power over us. STOP BELIEVING THE LIE. Look around the world we live in, deal with reality. Socialism, Marxism, Progressiveism, are all just different words for the same lie.

In Australia, you can quit you job and 2 months later collect unemployment until you choose to find yourself another job. I know plenty who collect from the government and the attitude is “you’re entitled” even though they choose to not work, send their kids off to school and play video games all day. All on the Aussie tax payers backs…and they don‘t see that what they’re doing is wrong. They just flat out don’t want to work.

Think deep, set a plan to work from, do it step by step and invest along with saving and living within your means…the classic American dream, it can be done.

I was shown a calculation done by one of my friends when both of us were 20; his father was an investment counselor and explained to us (also confirmed by my grandparents own example of investing the same way) that if a person can invest 100.00 a month minimum in their working life until 65, they will average around 2.4-3.4 million dollars in retirement funds; often they will have higher amounts due to even larger amounts of investing as debt is eliminated and more funds can be set to that purpose.

This conversation brings to mind the stark contrast between Dagny Taggart & James Taggart in Ayn Rand’s novel “Atlas Shrugged.” Gina here is a builder/producer. Yes, just like our heroine Dagny, she was an heiress to fortunes. However, also like our heroine, Gina does not simply rest on a decaying fortune, but actually builds. You will note that her wealth has GROWN. Which means, like her father she has learned how to work to become a producer, she has been building something with what she has been given.

You will note that in 1992 when she first inherited her money, she was NOT a billionaire. But now she is, having doubled and tripled her wealth in some years. I guarantee there were plenty of jobs created (or saved) as a result of her business decisions and investments. What a selfish woman: investing in new projects, increasing production (for industries that use her ores), making so much money in one year! I say good for her! The more she makes, the more likely it is that those mines will not close, putting so many wage workers out of work. Now she just has to watch out for the jealous government seeking to shut her down for her production.

She inherited 75 million dollars…and then turned it into multi-billions. She didn’t do that by enjoying the good life…she works and she works hard. And in the process she has created jobs for thousands, who might otherwise have no job. In the US, there are plenty of lottery winners who have won more and turned it into nothing in less than 10 years. Inherited wealth is no guarantee of increased wealth. Plus, she didn’t not inherit everything in cash…much of the value of her inheritance was in land, equipment, etc. so yes, she DID build that!
