Was Drinking Involved in the Streaking Incident at the Phillies Game? Yes…

Streaker at Cardinals Phillies Game Thursday

Head of security at Busch Stadium Joe Walsh tells the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that Colin Grundstrom “appeared to have been drinking” Thursday night.

The admission comes as no surprise considering Grundstrom stormed the field without wearing any clothes at the start of the seventh inning of the Cardinals-Phillies game Thursday.

AP reports that the 22-year-old streaker who ran naked onto the field says he did so because he lost a bet. Being on the wrong side of this wager could end up being very costly for Grundstrom, as he has been charged with violating two city ordinances – being a spectator running on the playing field, and lewd and lascivious behavior. Grunstrom spent Thursday night in jail.

Fans of Deadspin sent video of the melee:

What leads otherwise rational humans to do such things? Oh that’s right! Alcohol!

    Lesson learned!

Going to a MLB game might be fun again if they banned alcohol in the stadia. i wonder how much it would cost the owners? I think they good get much bigger crowds.

I’m a very conservative born again Christian and this just made me smile and chuckle. Folks, we should never condemn harmless (underline “harmless”) rowdy and crazy behavior…it was the wild west, it built our country. It’s because we are free!

      Granny you are right.

      Drunk and silly, but harmless.

Stupidity cannot be controlled, and neither should it be. We have all done some pretty dumb things in our lives (and I am not going to relate any of my several personal examples), so boo him off and let life go on.

They call him the streak….don’t look Ethel!!! O.K. dumb stunt but I am more puzzled why in the NW part of America, the town people stand along the boulevards and watch people ride naked on their bikes during some kind of celebration. Don’t remember the name of the town, but it sure wasn’t Mayberry. Anything goes now-a-days except a picture of a bull-dog on a T-shirt…that’s a no no.

BadDoggy, I understand what you mean about your granddaughter in the stands having to view that. But are you able to protect her from what she sees in the Hallowed Halls of Indoctrination (school)? In too many of our schools, children are subjected to far more graphic acts (sex ed. and so much more) in the name of “education” than a man running nekkid on a base ball diamond. I am not defending these actions, but like grannyrecipe tried to point out, things happen that are “harmless.”

The guy could be charged as a sex offender. He won‘t think it’s very funny when he has to register as one and live with that the rest of his life. It’s not far fetched. Some drunks have been charged as sex offenders for public urination and have to register as sex offenders with restrictions on where they can live etc.
