Wounded Warrior Overcomes Loss of Arms & Legs to Pass Driving Test

Marine Corporal Todd Nicely is nothing short of amazing. The 27-year-old is only the second American to survive losing both his arms and legs to a roadside bomb in Afghanistan.

After months in rehab at Walter Reed Army Hospital, Cpl Nicely mastered the use of his prosthetic arms and legs, recently passed a driving test, earning his license. Being able to drive means freedom to Nicely, and it also allows him to visit other wounded vets and show them that the losing a limb does not mean a life sentence in a hospital bed.

Amazing guy and fantastic prosthetic limbs. Like star wars with the functional appendages and all.

That said, @Dismayed Veteran. Your post says from the Army and then Attention on Deck, American Hero Arriving………..did you mean to say from Navy or are you attempting to use Navy speak to make a marine feel honored because unless things have changed dramatically the Army does not say attention on deck. Either way no problemo, just curious and confused…LOL

Yes, I am Army. I wanted him to know in case I did it incorrectly. I have only witnessed it once during my time in the Army.

My use of the Naval term was meant to honor Corporal Nicely and recognize his service in the US Marine Corps.

I‘m a USMC veteran of the Vietnam era and I’m also a triple Purple Heart recipient. Lance Cpl Todd Nicely makes me proud. I’m 72 years old now and if I could I would give my fellow Marine my arms and legs. Our Marines and Soldiers fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq are America’s best and deserve all the support we can give them. God bless you men and women who proudly wear the uniforms of our military forces. SEMPER FI Lcpl Todd Nicely. Always remember, “Once a Marine, Always a Marine”. Oooaaa…

Yes, Corporal Nicely, You are VERY normal! I know 2 people with no arms and legs – one a mother in her 50′s, and one a teenage boy who was born that way n(they don’t know each other), and BOTH drive cars! The boy just graduated high school with my son, and can maneuver his mother’s van on a dime. We arrived at a restaurant one day, my son with his learner’s permit, and this armless legless boy delicately backing that fatass van into his space. My own son, so new to driving, parked crooked, and his so-called “handicapped” friend yelled over “Nice parkin’!!” I laughed out loud, he SO made my day!

Thank you for your service for our country, Cp. Nicely. Live long, prosper, and have a wonderful rest of your life!
