Yahoo! Announces Partnership With The Blaze for Election Coverage

Yahoo Partners With Glenn Becks The Blaze for Election CoverageDo you Yahoo?

That was the question Yahoo! once used in its viral marketing campaign. The answer: about 90 percent of the country’s voting-age population does. And today, The Blaze is happy to say that it does, too.

In a Tuesday press release, Yahoo! announced that The Blaze will be one of its 2012 election coverage partners.

“Yahoo! News is doubling down on delivering premium original content and reporting, expending its robust team of journalists,” the release said, and that includes soliciting the “insights and viewpoints” of “journalists and opinion-leaders from established and emerging news outlets such as The Atlantic, The Blaze, FactCheck.org, Forbes, National Constitution Center, National Journal, Our Time, Reuters, The Week.”

“In this time of enormous economic and global challenge, the Yahoo! audience will determine the next president of the United States,” Ross Levinsohn, executive vice president of Americas at Yahoo!, said. “We’re building Yahoo! News to be the source for political coverage, harnessing the voices, opinions and proposed solutions of Americans from across the country to deliver content and reporting focused on the issues and decisions that voters and their families must deal with daily.”

“Yahoo is promising the most extensive political coverage in its history,” The Hollywood Reporter said, which will also include expanding on its relationship with ABC News.

The Signal blog is currently in beta tests, but will be an integral part of Yahoo's 2012 election coverage.

In addition to the partnerships, Yahoo! announced a series of other election endeavors that include a “Newsmaker” interview series with the GOP candidates (we featured Ron Paul’s interview earlier Tuesday); “Remake America,” which will be an original web show following eight American families facing economic issues; and a new website called “The Signal.”

According to the press release, “The Signal” is an “up-to-the minute web site devoted to elections: predictions, sentiment, games, and commentary” that will utilize Yahoo’s “planet-scale cloud technology and deep research resources to run sophisticated prediction models using live data, to capture the national sentiment and accurately predict outcomes on everything from who the front-runner is for the Republican Party, the likelihood that Obama will win re-elections, and how other political news, economic and financial indicators might impact the elections.”

A beta version of that site can be seen here.

So what does this mean for Blaze readers? First, you can expect to see more information soon on The Blaze’s election coverage. And second, you can expect to see your favorite Blaze writers, as well as unique Blaze analysis, sprinkled throughout Yahoo’s election coverage. (You can already check out Blaze commentator Will Cain’s latest thoughts on Jon Huntsman.)

Yahoo Partners With Glenn Becks The Blaze for Election Coverage

The Blaze has garnered 800 million page views in just 14 months of existence.

Blaze Editor-in-Chief Scott Baker explained it to me this way: “We’re excited to be part of such an ambitious effort to cover such a pivotal election. The Blaze approach will be truly multimedia. Look for vigorous reporting and sharp commentary with an emphasis on video and visual insight.”

“Yahoo is a fantastic partner with unsurpassed reach,” Blaze President Betsy Morgan added. “The approach they are taking to 2012 election coverage is innovative and unique. We are looking forward to working with them.”

Blaze readers have already made our site one of the 25 most valuable blogs on the internet. The site 24/7 Wall St. ranked The Blaze number 13 on its annual list, ahead of sites such as Newser, Boing Boing, and Gothamist.

Since launching 14 months ago, The Blaze has garnered over 800 million page views. In fact, in October we logged 5.2 million absolute unique visitors (according to the analytics site Omniture), which is more than double the traffic from a year ago.

The Blaze started with a small staff of four last August, and operated with that number for the first five months. Now, the site is comprised of 32 employees ranging from editors to sales people, and has been executing planned expansion beyond the web site to include a print magazine, Blaze news anchors on radio and GBTV, and other endeavors to come.

Kind of makes you want to shout “yahoo,” doesn’t it?

I am very wary of Yahoo. When the Libyan civil war…sorry…“kinetic military action” was breaking Yahoo posted a story by the AP where a rebel was quoted as saying they needed help from the Americans, he said- “bring Bush”. The board was flooded with conservatives noting that when there was trouble, they didn’t ask for Obama, they asked for Bush (in this case a reference to Bush Sr.) . About an hour after I saw this quote in the article, the quote was excised from the article. No..you didn’t make a mistake…AP summarily cut the quote from the article..I saw it with my own eyes. Yahoo has some explaining to do in why they’re offering articles from the AP that seem to change when the heat gets too hot.

You guys are reading and seeing this wrong…
Yahoo came to the Blaze and asked them to provide election commentary and coverage…GREAT!

that means….MORE exposure for the Blaze..
      more people coming by…
      more people reading…
more people learning the truth about all the “other” news not reported on…
more people being exposed to the garbage the MSM does and how biased they are…
I am with our Founding Fathers…I believe Jefferson was right…
given enough time and resources…the America people WILL figure out what is Right and Wrong and will correct their mistakes…

See the Blaze-Yahoo election partnership as a way to counter-at the absolute BIAS we know those other sites will print…this is an excellent way for 100′s of millions to be exposed to what journalist and journalism SHOULD be like…

all that being said….remember the Gipper….“trust but verify”….

Is anyone surprised by this? I mean c‘mon you’ve all seen the quality of the stories going downhill. It’s gone from journalism to tabloid sensationalism. The Ron Paul pic was the latest example. Misquoting the OWS protester about coining currency in the headline was another. I remember Beck saying they had hired people from (I can’t remember the organization like HuffPo or something) to work on the Blaze. Result, deteriorating journalistic integrity and a union with Yahoo.

One of the places that I write for is Associated Content, which is a branch of Yahoo!. While there might be a lot of liberal coverage on that site, they do allow me to publish my conservative voice – I probably have dozens of conservative political and religious articles up. I also have written some conservative pieces on the Tea Party for the main Yahoo! site.

From what I have seen by working with them for the last three years, they accept all voices. They might have more voices that are liberal, but that’s because they are getting more liberal articles submitted to them. When I first started writing for them, I was afraid that some of my opinions would be censored, but the only article that they have ever decided to deny was an article about s-e-x-ting. They said that it was obscene or something like that, but they obviously didn’t read it, because there was nothing inappropriate in that article at all.

Linking to ABC is like mating with a dinosaur. However, here’s a suggestion for GBTV. Given the stupid questions that were put to the candidates last night on CNBC, how about we scrap the rest of the debates, schedule three new ones on GBTV before we start voting in January, get new moderators consisting of Limbaugh, Hannity, Lavin, Ingram and Beck. Don’t eliminate any of the candidates; create a response time of three minutes or less (no rebuttle); go around the room in order so everyone gets equal time and see what happens. How long would it take for us to find the truest conservative on the venue? And the ratings would be astronomical.

I still looked at the news on the blaze but I guess that is over with too. If the blaze is teaming up with a globalist corporation like Yahoo, then I will no longer be able to trust anything at all that comes from this globalist, establishment site. We have to stop with 100% “agreement” mentality! I agree with 99% of what the Blaze/Beck speak of and report about. That is good enough for me… or you can compromise and follow the MSM and agree with 5% of what they say. Now is not the time to be divided over some small discrepancies.
