Yale Students File Sexual Harassment Suit Against the University

When members of the Yale University fraternity Delta Kappa Epsilon chanted, “No means yes! Yes means anal!” on campus in October 2010, little did they know that they would trigger a lawsuit against their school.
But that’s what happened when some student felt that the university failed to properly reprimand Delta Kappa Epsilon for its moronic chant. On March 15, these upset students filed a Title IX complaint against Yale for “failure to address incidents of sexual harassment and sexual assault has created a ‘hostile environment.’”
The AP reports:
The students [who filed the complaint] cite incidents in which fraternities held up a sign “We love Yale sluts” outside a women’s center and chanted “no means yes” on campus last fall. They also say incoming female freshmen were ranked on attractiveness.
The complaints also include allegations that Yale failed to adequately respond to reports of sexual assault or attempted assault and stalking, said Alexandra Brodsky, a Yale junior who is one of the 16 complainants. She would not disclose the number of complaints or the documentation the students filed.
Brodsky said the students and former students who signed the complaints were “really frustrated and disappointed that Yale again and again fails to respond to both public and private acts of sexual harassment and assaults which creates an environment in which women feel devalued.”
“It creates barriers to these women participating in all aspects of Yale life and it perpetuates an environment in which these sort of acts are ok,” Brodsky said.
And via The Daily Beast, the Yale Herald reports that a federal investigation of Yale is underway:
The Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) announced yesterday it will open an investigation to review Yale’s policies for dealing with sexual harassment and sexual assault. The investigation comes in response to a Title IX complaint filed against the University on Tues., Mar. 15. The complaint, a confidential suit between the 16 complainants and OCR , signed by both men and women who are current undergraduates and recent graduates of the University, alleges that Yale’s failure to properly address incidents of sexual harassment and sexual assault has resulted in a “hostile environment.” In the words of complainant Hannah Zeavin, BK ’12, this campus climate “precludes women from having the same equal opportunity to the Yale education as their male counterparts.”
Title IX, passed under the Education Amendments of 1972, states, “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance,” and offers a course of redress against any institution that discriminates on the basis of sex.
The complaint is specifically addressed at an Oct. 2010 incident when members of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity chanted, “No means yes! Yes means anal!” on Old Campus, but alleges that the Yale administration’s inadequate response to that incident was just one of many instances of the University’s failure to properly address public and private events of sexual harassment and assault. In an email, Dean Mary Miller, GRD ’81, declined to comment until the complaint had been received by the General Counsel.

It has taken over about everything important (which was their plan) —- education system, media, colleges full of mostly liberal professors. These Ivy League ones used to be based on Christian principles….now it’s like Sodom and Gomorrah everywhere. Anything goes and is not sacred, modest, noble, truthful, respectful, moral, wise, etc., etc. all along with the “entitlement mentality” where too many expect the Govn’t – others to give them whatever you want. Doesn’t sound too promising does it……“but God” hopefully!!!! It will take Divine Intervention & probably many terrible disasters to bring us around. Get ready, think we’re in the “Perfect Storm”.

It just show how the world has descended into sin and wanton desires of the heart. You can’t expect to just fiddle with sin and come out clean. It will pull you in deeper and deeper. The Bible clearly states that when man turns from God that he will turn them over to their desires of their hearts. I believe it started when they took prayer out of school. It is surely going to get worse until men and women turn from their wicked ways and back to the Creator.

This group is very anti-free speech and the group that is doing the suing was caught doing some very disgusting things themselves, on multiple occasions. However, what they did was gay, lesbian, anything goes sort of love-fest. So that makes them ok, but to actually chant something, that has just got to stop.

Was that the 1950′s when the races were separated with separate churches, neighborhoods, schools and lived in separate parts of town? I am just asking a question because when I hear some of you say that you want your country back, I am curious to exactly what you are referring to. I think I know – things were different in the 50s and the 60s – besides what I already mentioned – in college the sexes were separated in different dorm and there were curfews, couples got married before living together or had children. Yes, things have changed and I have problems with all of it also – but it is not all caused by liberals – that is a sweeping generalization that I don’t believe anyone can prove. http://maboulette.wordpress.com

Would you argue that regardless of ideologies back in the day, that America was on much better financial footing primarily because its citizenry better understood personal responsibility and accountability? If so, then you certainly do not believe that only non-minorities practiced said any more or better than minorities, do you? If not, then you understood completely where we are coming from. People back in the day were better citizens because the government left the living up to the citizens and did not much more than it had to.

Yale should have intervened and suspended the perps. If they get away with this, then what else will they try to get away with.. Not this needs to be nipped in the bud now, otherwise some may feel they have permission to take it further.

Liberals need to grow up, take the skirts off and focus their attention on things that are productive to our country instead of counter-productive.
I remember the liberal‘s empty battle whine back in the early 1980’s: Don’t buy Japanese cars because every time you do, you put one American out of work.
Fast forward to now where productive American citizens cry, “Every liberal that exists today means I have to work twice as hard to make up for their lack of productivity and intentional counter-productivity.
Liberals might think they’re American, but they’re certainly not traditional Americans. Remember how not so long ago, progressives used the following phrase to cover their tracks: “While I might not agree with so-and-so, I would never question his patriotism.” Well, guess what? I have no problem questioning a liberal‘s patriotism because they’re essentially un-American.

For the last 6 years I have spoken to a long line of really smart kids that if an emergency happened ,wouldn’t last a week. But yeah guess it is nice to just blame liberals for everything. IMAGINE if women banded together and stopped attending Yale…
There are plenty of better schools. In fact I‘ve told my kid that I won’t pay for Yale, Harvard, or Columbia – (some of the most progressive schools out there) because I’m not paying to send her to a re-education camp (a la the Maoists).
