Yes, This Really Is Ex-Sen. Arlen Specter Cracking Sex Jokes At a Philly Comedy Club Last Night

PHILADELPHIA (The Blaze/AP) — Knock, knock. Who’s there? It’s former Sen. Arlen Specter and he’s continuing his second career as a comedian.

The longtime Pennsylvania senator performed at an open-mic night at the Helium Comedy Club in Philadelphia on Tuesday, continuing a post-politics foray into standup.

Specter told the crowd he’s “been in comedy now for 30 years” and took shots at former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, and others in his act. Former President Bill Clinton and current Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich were also targets of Specter quips. Former candidate Herman Cain wasn’t exempt either.

For example, he said he didn’t vote to impeach Clinton because they were friends, despite the “body of evidence.” He even worked in a joke about Clinton and Viagra.

On Christie, he quipped that Christie was upset the recent hurricane destroyed “both books” in his library “and he wasn’t finished coloring one of them.”

[Content warning: the jokes contain some adult content]

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports the crowd roared with approval at Specter’s jokes. Specter himself tells the newspaper that “humor is elevating” and he wanted to try it out.

He says, “I might be invited back.”

Arlen Specter is a big joke, all he’d have to do is stand on the stage – silent – for awhile to get laughs.

Ah, yeah. I remember when he insisted he be treated with dignity and respect and the honor his ‘position’ afforded him.

Turns out he’s just another schmuck who wants for himself and has no dignity or honor. PIG.

I have to laugh at every one who posted on the video of Arlen doing stand-up comedy. Personally, I think his jokes were a bit flat, but the crowd obviously liked much of what he spoke on. Could it be that they really liked hearing a former politician make fun of his former friends, and other politicians? I know that I like hearing jokes about politicians, and I am quite sure that many of the writers of all the posts listed prior to mine, also like to hear jokes about other politicians. And yet, not one wrote about how funny, or not funny Arlen’s comedy routine was?
I thought parts of it were good, and the rest was a tad flat; but I have to say he did a fair comedy routine. Not as good as those put on by Gallagher, but if Arlen continues, he could make some decent money doing comedy.

This guy is still getting his material from the Kabbalah, and he got his first gig in a Masonic hall somewhere in Philly. I think it was in a duet with Hiram Abiff. Great comedy! It continued through the single bullet theory of the Warren Commission, and then the career began to wane with his “Scottish Law” routine on the Senate floor.

Benedict Arlen had more flip-flops that a beach party during his political career. I prefer him on the stage.
