‘Yes, We Can’: Watch Ted Cruz Throw Down the Gauntlet to Obama in FreePAC Speech

Ted Cruz Throws Down the Gauntlet to Obama Administration in FreePAC Speech

Ted Cruz (File)

In a speech that began and ended with a standing ovation, Texas candidate for U.S. Senate Ted Cruz took on Obama and the establishment in Washington before an enthusiastic audience at FreedomWorks‘ “FreePAC” event Thursday night at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

(Related: Live Chat: Restoring Freedom at FreePAC)

“God bless FreedomWorks, God bless Texas and God bless the Tea Party,” Cruz began.

“A few weeks ago, the Supreme Court in a tragic decision upheld ‘Obamacare’,” Cruz said, drawing boos. “Let me tell you, as sad a day as that was for liberty, that was a shot heard around the world. That decision was like gasoline on fire.”

He said the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the controversial health care law would make 2012 look a lot like 2010, referring to the elections in which the Tea Party made huge advances in Congress.

“Right now, liberty is under assault,” he added. “Our national debt is larger than our gross domestic product, and the unhappy news is it has been career politicians in both parties who have gotten us in this mess.” More cheers followed.

“Y’all are the solution,” he explained. “We are on the verge of becoming the first generation in our nation’s history to give our kids and grandkids a bleaker future… that is unacceptable to me.”

And if elected to Senate, what is Cruz’s first step to fixing the country?

“We repeal Obamacare,” he said to thunderous applause. “Every single word.”

“We are fed up with the same tired establishment incumbents that don’t believe in a darn thing. Give us new leaders who will stand and fight for liberty. who will defend the U.S. Constitution, and who will stop spending money,” said Cruz.

The Senate hopeful closed his speech by mocking President Obama’s 2008 “Yes we can” slogan and asked the audience to answer a few simple questions.

“Can we retake the U.S. Senate,” Cruz asked. “Yes we can.”

The audience caught on quick.

“Can we retire Harry Reid?”

“Yes we can!” the crowd shouted back.

“Can we repeal Obamacare?”

“Yes we can!”

“And can we retire President Barack Obama?”

“Yes we can!” the audience yelled.

He exited the stage to rousing, prolonged applause and an emphatic standing ovation, screams and yells blaring out and Ted Cruz campaign signs held high in the air.

More Emails from My Obama Buddies

President Barack Hussein Obama’s critics say he has reduced the country to a virtual economic basket case and that he and his re-election team are in process of reducing the presidency of the United States to the level of a carnival side-show with phony come-ons replete with hawking t-shirts and mugs and games of chance.

Well, they may be doing all that but it’s in a good cause–saving the nation from an evil Republican!

I know this because I’m the very proud recipient of personalized emails from various members of the Obama-Biden campaign committee and even some from Barack and Michelle and the vice president! At first, they arrived once or so a week but lately they’ve been filling up my in-box at an amazing rate, clear evidence that my buddies are working really hard.

A cynic might think the email flurry is only designed to raise $$$ for the cash-starved Obama-Biden campaign but I know better. Mostly, they’re intended to demonstrate a friendly effort to keep in touch with their supporters.

What follows are slightly-edited emails I’ve received in the last week, edited because some were very wordy despite how busy, busy, busy Obama and his team are down in D.C. and across the fruited plain. ,

The latest came from the president just today and the poor guy is sounding desperate. He mustn’t have much time to write because he was pretty brief. He asks for $3, of course, to enter his birth

Voted for Cruz for the second time in the election year. Knowing what Dewhurst has done to TX. Killing the “Sanctuary City” bill because HEB food stores was afraid of losing cheap tomatoes and cheap labor for the home builders. He also killed the TSA No Groping Bill, because the FAA threaten to halt air travel in and out of Texas. Dewhurst is just another Harry Reid with a Texas accent. Dewhurst has done for TX what panty hose did for driving-in dating!

bullcrap. just another politician who wants to get rich off of the citizens of this country. how about this mr. cruz. make yourself accountable to the laws that you set for us. and i mean accountable to the punishment also. every problem we have in this country is because of politicians who have absolutely NOTHING to lose. put the threat of jail time in front of them and watch things change. ever wonder why no one read the healthcare bill? because they don’t have to participate. why should they care whats in it? if they had to participate in social security, do you think it would be in the shape it’s in? i don’t think so. insider trading? we go to jail, they get richer. ( oh, i’m sorry. they passed a law against it after they got found out . yeah, right.) charley “beach chair” rangel cheats on his taxes. he gets “censured”. we go to jail and lose everything we own. sorry, until we can throw these worthless creeps in jail , nothing changes. nothing. hey, i know. instead of voting this time around, what say we storm washington, drag these bums out of their offices, and tell them never to come back. all of them. both sides. then we can vote in folks who know if they screw us over, they get to spend the next thirty years in general population. that’s when things will change.

David Dewhurst, a lawyer has be accusing Ted Cruz, a lawyer of being a lawyer. Those are the attack adds.Makes no sense what so ever to a thinking individual for a lawyer to accuse a lawyer of being a lawyer. WE KNOW HE’S A LAWYER ALREADY!!! Just because he represents a client does not mean he endorses his clients actions. By that logic a lawyer who represents a bank robber endorses bank robbery or one who represents a murderer endorses murder. NOT TRUE! I am smarter than that Dave! I would hope most people are.

I am sick, fed up and numerous other unpublishable adjectives of attack adds. Give me a POSITIVE reason to vote for you Dave, so far you have given me NONE. Cruz has given me positive reasons to vote for him. Guess who is getting my vote Dave, hint ain’t you!

To bad Weather Vane Romney supports the establishment candidate David Dewhurst not Cruz. If you fools think Romney will care at all about a Tea Party agenda when/IF he wins your kidding yourself. Romney is proof the Tea Party has been co opted by the GOP progressives, and you fools go along with it because Beck tells you hes riding in on a white horse to save us. Paul was the grand father of the Tea Party and you dullards wrote him off as crazy because Beck, Levin and Hannity told you to. The truth is monetary policy, foreign policy and domestic policy never change despite which party holds the executive branch. Those of you who support Romney deserve the inevitable collapse that will come from the treasury bond and dollar bubble, Romney will not deviate from Bernakies policies. You self proclaimed Tea Party patriots will be at fault for the down fall of our Republic because your refused to do your homework and decided to back the establishment progressives and not the Constitutionalist. You should have known better, its far to late now Paul is out and the big spenders are in here comes QE3,4,5 etc…

      @TheCONFUSEDconservative
Are you sure its funny and not incredibly disappointing. There are very few politicians willing to stand up for Liberty consistently. Im sure its funny to you now but when Romney continues deficit spending and destroys the economy will you be laughing then? Have you seen his proposed budget? It cuts the growth of future spending by 10%, pathetic! Anyone who supports these monetary policies is not a conservative.
Btw those YT videos simply show Romney in is own words describing his progressive views. How gullible can you be?

Isn’t FUNNY that you avoid the FACT that Rand Paul ENDORSED Romney, oh and BTW told his father’s followers to get behind Romney. Instead you write meaningless talking points.

What would you like me to say about Rand? Yes he endorsed Romney which in my opinion was to advance his own future in the GOP. I for one will be very skeptical of Rand from now on. He obviously doesn’t have the same courage his father does.

Now why dont you address Romneys budget and how it doesnt propose any meaningful cuts to the budget? Or how he supports TSA? Or how he wants to replace Obamacare with another big govt program? Or how he supports Bernakie?

Please explain to me how you can consider yourself a conservative and advocate for these policies that are in line with progressive, centralized government agenda!

The fight between David Dewhurst and Ted Cruz has gotten a lot of Texans looking closely at the tactics of both sides. David Dewhurst has run attack adds for months. Slinging half facts and accusations at an alarming rate. It must have cost millions to broadcast all the mud. Red River valley has not as much. And now when he‘s realized that it’s not done the expected, he’s turned ultra-conservative and is ready to fix all the problems he will have no ability to fix. Mr. Cruz has quietly campaigned for the conservative vote without slinging half the Red River shoreline in the process. And look who’s standing with who now. Mr. Cruz is not perfect, as some here will undoubtably point out, but he’s got the integrity far surpassing his opponent.

What did happen do you even know? Harry Reid has shot down or not allowed a vote on every plan presented by the republican house and some democrats. The house is doing what they promised it is the traitor in chief with his executive orders and Harry Reid that are blocking any kind of progress the people want.

      Rising star.

Note to self and others: hispanics work hard, have family at center and are Christians. Not all, but many, many, many. The La Raza and Mecha clowns need to be marginalized. I know many, many hispanics who are pro 2nd Amendment and love the opportunities of this country.

Just talk straight with them. Rule of law. Founding principles. And we can make the whiny Left a thing of the past. Whispy white liberals, unjustifiably angry blacks, and other ingrates need go away.
