‘Yes We Did’: Is Obama Actually Celebrating Midterm ‘Shellacking’?

A “special message from President Obama” delivered via a toll-free 800 number gave members of Organizing for America — Barack Obama’s campaign outfit — a significant pat on the back for a job well done during the 2010 midterm elections. But ABC News’ Jake Tapper is rightfully confused by this mixed message, just days after Obama grumbled about the “shellacking” he and the Democratic Party received from midterm voters. 
In a recorded message, the president tells supporters, “Thank you for the tireless work. You guys organized the single largest midterm election effort in this history of our party…You turned ‘Yes We Can’ into ‘Yes We Did.’”
“Did” what exactly? Tapper seriously wonders:
Considering that President Obama himself called the election “a shellacking,” with Democrats losing control of the House of Representatives, six Senate seats, 20 state legislatures, one might be forgiven for wondering exactly he thinks his volunteers did – other than valiantly trying but failing to get enough voters to the polls.
“This was about the volunteer effort, not the election result,” said Democratic National Committee spokesman Brad Woodhouse. “The party made 86 million voter contacts, we had staff or volunteers in 435 congressional districts, we raised and spent more money than ever in a midterm, we had the lergest midterm field effort ever, we ran or staffed virtually all the coordinated campaigns in all the key states.”
As ABC News Polling Director Gary Langer has pointed out, according to exit polls, 29 million Obama voters from 2008 didn’t show up to vote in the midterms.
“Thirteen percent of Obama voters defected to Republicans for Congress,” Langer noted.
Women – who won women voters by 13 points in 2008 — voted 49-48 percent for Democratic vs. Republican House candidate — the best for Republicans among women in national House vote in exit polls since 1982.”
In terms of party self-identification, Democrats went to the polls in 2008 with a seven point advantage in 2008, 40-33% over Republicans. This year it was 36-36 percent.
Swing-voting independents went for Obama by 8 points in 2008; this year they favored Republicans for the House 55-39 percent – the Republicans’ biggest win among independents in exit polls since 1982.
Young voters, in particular, were a disaster this year. Eighteen-to-29 year olds comprised 18% of the electorate in 2008 and only 12 percent earlier this month.
By any reasonable standard, this election was a shellacking for Democrats and, more specifically, President Obama and his agenda.
After his “shellacking” admission, Obama denied that his policies had anything to do with the Democrats‘ loss and instead admonished his administration’s ineffective communication skills. Now is he just ignoring voters’ outspoken dissent altogether?
“You didn’t sit this one out even when all the pundits said it was hopeless,” Obama says in the OFA message. “And because of that, we are stronger.”

What is really scary is that there is a chance he could get re-elected. You think he is weird now, just wait. When he has 4 years ahead of him with no concern about re-election he can go crazy trying to socialize this country. He could care less about the election after him because he thinks he will have the country by the throat and the election won’t matter. He has no problem throwing his supporters under the bus (just ask all those Dems going home).
Obama may also think he can bypass the congress and it doesn‘t matter how many Republicans are they because it just won’t matter. Getting a shellacing may set the citizens mind at ease because they think they accomplished something to thwart his efforts. Watch the other hand.
During his second 4 years, only impeachment will stop him and he will have such a grip on the government that it will be near impossible without a violent uprising – which he wants.

He thwarted the will of the people time and time again with the attitude he knows better than everyone, which makes him rather arrogant (not a wonderful trait). He spent a good portion of his presidency on the monster bill of Health Care which is now causing people to not only lose their HC Insurance as others are seeing their costs drastically rise. He was mostly MIA with the Gulf oil spill, spending too much time golfing and vacationing as well as having concerts in the WH and I do not believe he ever visited Tennessee when it was devastated by flooding. He got the shellacking of a life time yet thinks it was a messaging problem. Really? He did health care events in numerous states, town hall meetings, made it the focus of many of his radio addresses, gave speech after speech on the subject. I don’t think I ever saw or heard from a President as much as I have from Obama. A messaging problem it wasn’t – the problem was with the message.

Perhaps if her office was deluged with calls demanding a statement assuring safety they would be backed into a corner (as if they care) and perhaps other doctors would come forward and give their opinions. She should also state the long term effects “pat downs” have on children who have been told about “danger stranger” and not to let anyone do such things. Maybe the “safe school czar” has had a hand in this and he is de-sensitizing children to make them more readily available to predators.

The house and senate are not important to him. everything he needs to do can be done through presidential order. watch the other hand. he knows the American people are watching the dog and pony show and not paying attention to all the executive orders. this Government and financial system is corrupt and broken. Obama has all kind of little events lined up to make him look like the hero. if you pay attention there will be a new event weekly that he will take credit for, thus becoming his talking points during his re election. This coming week the dog and pony show will expose and parade arrests in the insider trading, after that he will make a news event and take responsibility for it. the script is already written. divert the attention.

Write them and insist they repeal the gun control laws AND pass legislation authorizing CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY THROUGHOUT THE U.S. and all territories and possessions.
