Yes, You Are Watching a Rabbit Successfully Herd Sheep Like a Dog

Animal lovers fell in love with the movie Babe in 1995 when the little pig succeeded — at least in cinema — to do the duty of its fellow sheep dogs in herding the flocks.

Now, a dwarf rabbit named Champis has quickly become a viral sensation on YouTube with a similar herding skill. Watch the bunny as it works the flock like a pro sheep dog:
Notice how the actual sheep dog hangs back and lets the rabbit do all the work. io9 reports that Champis lives near Käl in Sweden and also points out that in creating an indispensable role for itself on the farm, Champis avoids becoming tonight’s dinner.

Posted less than a week ago, the YouTube video now has more than 100,000 views.

Had a Border Collie that loved to sleep on the waterbed, but knew it was forbidden

Posted on January 31, 2012 at 6:23amActually, no, it’s just the socialist lefties.
There may be 20 or 30 on the right. But that’s it.
We ARM THEM with KNOWLEDGE and advise them to RESEARCH THE FACTS to FIND THE TRUTH to go to ORIGINAL SOURCES.
Whereas the left says, “hey, just look at my cartoon. That’s all you need to know!“ and ”Listen to all the people LAUGH when our comedian spews HATE and VITRIOL!! Don’t you want to laugh at those people too? That way you can feel better than them. Just like we do!“ and ”It’s not about FACTS… it’s about FEELINGS…” and that sort of crap.
That’s what the socialist left puts out and that is what sheep follow.

Posted on January 31, 2012 at 1:33amgolly, why is this news?.. It’s what the politicians, both repubs and dems, (seemingly weak little rabbits) have done to the American citizenry (frightened mindless sheepeople) for perhaps a hundred years or so now. The real story is how the news media, liberals and the neo-cons use everything from something as benign as weather cycles and monetary policy to the imagined threat of terrorism and horrid fiscal policy to herd us down a path where we lose our rights and beg the government to save us from ourselves while being led to a slaughter.
Or perhaps this is a cute widdle tale about a bunny wabbit with mad skills…

Posted on January 31, 2012 at 1:09pm@ Icnivad… I‘ll skulk when you can prove this isn’t what has and is happening in the U.S. Go ahead… Come up with an intelligent argument explaining how our monetary system hasn’t been trashed by weak politicians (started in it’s current form in 1913) and how they politicians have robbed us of our rights with BS legislation like the Patriot act (where the TSA/Homeland Security was created) as well as the NDAA that provides for indefinite detention of Americans without any due process of law (passed by both repubs as well as dems) and the American Citizenry started to wake with the birth of the Tea Party yet the repubs have co-opted and diminished any power they might have grasped initially. Today Americans, both right and left, sit on their hands while burying their heads (quite a physical feat to be sure) in the sand and do very little to change the path we’re on… Sadly, the repubs (except for one) argue at debates over whose version of big government should replace the Dems version of Obummer’s big government. So please, enlighten us all with your wisdom on how a bunch of seemingly weak widdle wabbits have pushed Americans down a horrible path of destruction.

Posted on February 1, 2012 at 3:16pmModerationisbest…..thats the point. People who call Jesus their Good Shepherd are aware of their inability to maximize the potential of this life without Him…so they follow Him, wherever He goes….like sheep. They wont follow any voice but that of the Shepherd. Are all sheep the same? No…however the Shepherd is the One who guards them, and even if one should get lost, He would leave the others behind (they arent going anywhere, and they know His voice) and find that one. The Shepherd knows His sheep, and the sheep know their Shepherd. But there are times when the sheep try to scatter, they run in fear, knock things down, they may evil get themselves killed out there! Best they follow the Shepherd. The metaphor is appropriate.

Posted on January 31, 2012 at 12:15amI have shared my home with a couple rabbits and am not surprised by this at all. They are a whole lot smarter than most people can imagine, and some are quite audacious little critters. My 6 pound mini-rex rabbit, Zoe, on more than one occasion had houseguests standing on the furniture in fear, including a 6′4″ man. Lines from a certain Monty Python movie were quoted often in my home. I think the screen-writer there had had some first-hand experience with an audacious rabbit, as had the original creator of Bugs Bunny. Anyone remember the story about the wild rabbit who attacked Jimmy Carter on a fishing trip? Lots of jokes about that, but I have no trouble believing it.
The rabbit is not the cuddly, innocuous little air-headed creature its appearance implies or popular culture assumes it to be.
