‘You Can Call it Communism, Progressivism, Socialism, Marxism, or Statism’: Rep. West Defends His ‘80 Communists in the House’ Claim

During a Fox July Fourth special featuring Rep. Allen West (R-FL) and political strategist Frank Luntz, an audience member asked the Florida congressman how he expects to heal the America political system when he says divisive and “absurd” things like there are “70 Communists in the House of Representatives.”

“I think one of the things that’s really ruined our politics is rhetoric,” said Aaron, the audience member. “And I think for a congressman to make the accusation that are 70 Communists in the House of Representatives is an absurd statement and it doesn’t really reflect the story you just told.”

Rep. West disagreed.

“But it does reflect the story I just told because it reflects a person that has studied political theory and ideology. I have a Bachelor’s degree and two Master’s degrees in political science, political theory, political ideology. And the thing is you have to be able to understand the two competing principles of philosophies of governance in this country,” Rep. West said.

He continued:

When you go back and you read the documents, the Declaration of Independence, the full declaration, the full Constitution, you’ll understand limited government, you’ll understand fiscal responsibility, you’ll understand individual sovereignty, free markets … strong national defense.

But there are people on the other side, and you can call them whatever you wish, you can call it Communism, Progressivism, Socialism, Marxism, or Statism …They believe in creating and expanding an entitlement or welfare state.

“And you can’t tell me that you’re not seeing that in the United States of America right now,” he added.

    Rep. West understands the true meaning of The Communist Menace. I’m sure that he has read WITNESS by Wittaker Chambers. If you have not read WITNESS then you can not understand that the COMINTERN is still alive and well and that his statement regarding the number of communists in congress is probably understated. That is why Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill said of Soviet Russia, ‘Russia is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.’

      These are the same ideas that murdered 150+ million people just last century, and these ideas have taken root and are starting to sprout in the U.S.

      Our grandparents feared and loathed communists for good reason–they watched the anti-life bastards murder millions and millions of people with their ‘great leap forward’, and their politburo, and their planned famines.

      I heard Col/Rep West mentioned for the VP. – I’d like to have him run for the presidency!
      Since that doesn’t look like a possiblity: West would be great as Sec of Defense or Sec of State.

      But never fear, you will still have your bread and circuses (foodstamps and football), the schools will still babysit your kids every day and you will have your elections!
      And every two years you will hear the mantra “This time we will fix it. Don’t worry, this election is the one!”
      Boys and girls continue with the delusion, accept the delusion, or realize that we must discard the delusion and, of all the above, that is the most painful and dangerous thing to do because we can never return to our old constitution, not because it failed us, but human nature failed it!

Makes for a great 15 sec. sound bite, but as we have seen in their record, a lot of wasted air, no policy, no action. And by the way the way our $600 billion plus national defense, trillion plus Medicare and SS are run by the state so they are socialistic in nature. But then again you have to understand the meaning of the terms to realize that.

      And you also need to read a more recent book about how the Democrats in congress attacked Joseph McCarthy who was correct in calling on the purge of known Communist collaborators in government and in particular the U S State Department. And it was Harry Truman who took the personnel files of the “suspects ” into the White House claiming “executive privilege”. Sorry I don’t remember the author or title of the book which is a great read.

      My sister was over, and I made her watch that segment, before turning to something a little lighter. She too was most impressed with the sensible, down to earth, and very charming Col West.
      I love Col. West. I pointed out to my sister, did she notice how he was candid, AND DIDN’T NEED ANY STINKING TELEPROMPTER!! My sister agreed, he’s a most impressive man–BTW, as a woman, he makes my heart flutter. Col. West is a man’s man, a woman’s man, a righteous man.
      Leadership is substance, NOT style. Col West has both in spades. His substance IS is style.
      I cannot vote for Romeny–there’s little difference between Romney/Obama, BOTH are statists. I’ve had enough of that.
      I’m writing in Col West, and Scott Walker as VP.

      This is also why J. Edgar Hoover was vilified, he believed there was a Communist movement that was getting stronger in the 1920′s. He was starting to make inroads in destroying the movement and then was called off. So, this has been a continued progression and what Col. West is saying he is on point! Read the real story of J. Edgar Hoover, not the “liberal crap of a movie” that they made. He was a very intelligent man doing the the right thing for our country!

      Yes, I like Allen West’s guts to tell it how it is. We all know some of those people in Congress are against everything that’s good for America. They’ve been pushing us into socialism as fast as they can.
      It‘s all Obama’s fault, what’s happening in this Country. We need to get rid of him so he can’t hurt us any longer. He‘s a good example of those who’ve pushed against us and want to fundamentally change us to a socialist/progressive nation. That way we lose our freedom as we’ve known it and go toward Communism.       He made a very good point about having people who put their lives on the line for our country in Congress led to a more moral representation. My family was just talking about that over the 4th of July. I believe having a President with military experience/service is also very valuable. The only person who would be an Eisenhower type today would probably be General Petraeus.

My friend liked him, but he also isn‘t insane and doesn’t go onto the comment section of a website to spew off garbage acting like he knows everything because he has been through everything. He doesn’t use the same talking points under every article that has to do with someone who is an actual patriot. Someone who fought courageously for our country. He’s also not someone who would hide behind a computer screen trolling websites everyday. See my friend has common sense, he accepts that Ron Paul didn’t win the nomination.       just, IMO, West is a clown and this further reinforces it. Ranting about “communists” might make the partisan base salivate, but it doesn’t help his cause with the independents who look at this as complete hyperbole. And then lumping every ideology that is pro-State, into the label “communist” just shows he has little understanding of the distinctions between these political systems. MOST politicians are statist, so he accussed many in his Party as well.

      Justangry. I often use Hayek’s terminology “Central Government Planners” for JUST THIS REASON. It offers NO wiggle room for leftists (like West) who accuse OTHERS of being leftist. Leftists will often bicker over definitions as a distraction tactic, but I find Hayek’s language is BULLET-PROOF.

      When the Communists/Socialists realized they would never get elected to office, they knew they had to “change their clothes.” So, they infiltrated the Democratic Party and it is now called the Democratic Socialists of America Party. There are between 70 and 80 members of that party currently serving in the House and Senate of the United States. The old Democratic Party no longer exists. People who vote Democrat think they are voting for a Democrat, but they are not. On your computer, just “Google” the initials “DSA” or Democratic Socialists of America to get the full story and history on these democratic imposters. And yes, your President is one of them.

      You old true Democrats need to purge your party of these unAmerican representatives. I used to be a Democrat until I realized they were being infiltrated by Communists/Socialists. I now vote as an Independent. There are a lot of wonderful older Democrats. The Socialists are ruining America.

      VERCE, I find it funny how so many on the Left can claim that “Reagan was the start of our problems”, when Reagan and every Republican to follow were all Big Government/pro-State administrations. Regardless of the rhetoric the Party uses concerning “limited government, less spending”, it is rhetoric, nothing more. It galvanizes the base on the Right and is used by the Left to whip it’s own base into a frenzy as well. Yet, the two parties are different by small degrees. Government is still growing at absurd rates, the major social programs are being funded at greater rates and government power is expanding under every administration. There was a time where I would state that they differed in their belief on military policy, but Obama stomped that difference into the mud. Maybe they differed on the War on Drugs? Nope. Yet, both sides can look at the other and scream “Your side did this!!”

      Brother, Rep. Allen West has more Honor and Patriotism in his little finger than you have in your whole body. Rep. West served his country and took an oath to stand, fight and protect not only our flag but the Constitution and our Declaration of Independence. He earned many service awards and medals and is a person who means what he says. Because of his Military experience and knowing what is going on in other parts of this country he has a better understanding when it comes to Foreign Policy, unlike Ron Paul who would just turn his back on Iran and allow Iran to bomb whomever. I would vote for Rep. Allan West every single day and twice on Sundays. Furthermore I am sick and tired of you and your constant bashing of everyone who is not voting for Ron Paul. You might want to ask yourself if this is how Ron Paul would want you to support him, because I am sure he wouldn’t, not the way you treat others opinions. Last but least, you will never convince anyone here because personally know one believes or trusts you. When you constantly recite Saul Alinskys rules and we see you everyday living up to those rules, makes one think you are a imposture here to ruffle feathers.

      If Ron Paul is the “popular” candidate, how do you explain his piss poor performance in the State primaries? I would think that to qualify as the “popular” candidate it would require something more that 10 – 20% of the vote. But hey I got out of school in 1983 so I suppose math has “progressed” since then

      My 25 year old stepson is\was a big supporter of Ron Paul…like many kids his age are…..several weeks ago Pennsylvania conducted it’s Republican primary. I asked my step kid later that evening if he voted in the primary…and he said “No…..because and I quote “He doesn’t have a chance”……and then he went back to playing his video games and playing on Facebook and texting on his cellphone.

      Arrive at whatever conclusion you wish from that above exactly true and accurate story. The entire nation with the exception of a relatively small sample of the population…are a jaded indecisive malleable bunch of Velveeta cheese lovers….especially if someone else is paying for and making your grilled cheese sandwiches.

      @Paulbots Even if I thought Ron Paul was the best candidate for the job, I probably wouldn’t vote for him because he looks like he about to croak, so I’d be voting for his VP instead. But besides that, after seeing and hearing all you Paulbots talk like Ron Paul is the America‘s ’Savior’ -just as Obamabots seemingly worship and praise Obama- I can’t help but feel disgusted. I cringe when I hear someone refer to Ron Paul as “the Good Doctor” (note the capital G and D…). Romney‘s not my top choice but I’d prefer him over BO any day.

      As for me, I’ll put my trust in the Almighty God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob for deliverance, rather than some feeble mortal man. And while I’m alive and able to vote in this country, I’ll do my American duty of voting any corruption out of the government.

      Personally, I voted to get RP on the ballot in my home state, liked what I was hearing from him mostly. Then his advocates started in with the rabid love and I heard his 0 foreign policy speak.     Col. West is like a movie super hero, but in real life. I almost wish we could just make this guy king for one year and give him the power to do anything he wishes. But, only for one year.

    This guy is spot on and is speaking the truth and opinions of the majority of Americans. Col. West is not afraid to speak the truth. That’s the reason the left hates him so much. That’s the reason why we true American patriots love him so much.

      2. If you don’t like it find another job, otherwise keep there and work your way up the ladder as you develop skills and savings which will eventually be released into the economy allowing for investment and in turn a higher standard of living
      3. If you don‘t like it you don’t have to work there
      4. There are private organizations that check to see if things are safe, if you don‘t do your research that’s your fault.

    Until the left will just admit what their final goal is, we can’t have an honest dialogue in this country. Mark Levine put it very well, “Just ask the liberals, what does the country look like when we are done progressing? What does your final utopia look like and when will we know we are there?” Simple question that they won’t answer, because if they answered it honestly, they would say, “Communism is what we want, and when we have one party rule, we are there”.
