You Can’t Make This Up: Artist Transforms His Dead Cat Into Flying Quadrotor

We’ve seen a lot of quadrotor drones here at the Blaze but never expected to see anything like this. An artist has taken similar technology — a remote-controlled Lotus T580 — and made it into a feline’s ultimate revenge against its taunting feathered friends.

Dutch Artist Creates Remote Control Orvillecopter From Dead Cat

"Orvillecopter" (Image: YouTube screenshot)

Meet the “Orvillecopter” created by Dutch artist Bart Jansen. Jansen took his taxidermied cat — Orville — and strapped him to four of these remote controlled helicopters. Check out his first semi-successful test from March:

As the YouTube description states, the Orvillecopter is “half cat, half machine.” Orville, if you hadn’t guessed already, was named after Orville Wright of the famed Wright Brothers. Although killed by a car, Orville can now chase the birds — or at least cows — he used to watch while being constrained to the ground during his earthly life.

GeekOSystem writes the Orvillecopter has also more recently received some more powerful upgrades to improve flight. See that version here:

Here’s another from later in May documenting a “final test” of the “cat ‘copter”:

If you by chance are in Amsterdam, you can view the Orvillecopter in person at the Kunstrai art festival.

Ugh. It’s a little funny, but mostly it’s just sick.
This is NOT my crowd; I keep forgetting how much conservative Christians hate animals (and gays; don’t worry, I didn’t forget).
Since this is “a good use for a cat (dead or alive)” we could also fix some of these cats so they don’t breed. Then there would be a lot fewer of them to starve and get underfoot and endure abuse for an amusing show.

Stop coming here if you hate us so much.

Being conservative does not equal animal hating. It just means we see animals in their rightful place – not little hairy humans. They are animals. We can eat them if we want. We take care of them when they are alive, and we understand that when they die their carcasses are just dead flesh.

Read the article. Orville was killed by a car idiot. He did not starve and was not made into a helicopter while alive as you insinuated all conservatives were apt to do. It costs a lot of money to have your pet taxidermied. Someone who hates animals would not have spent the money. Don’t you have a “pride” parade to attend or a whale to save. Libturd.

Don’t generalize about conservatives hating animals. My wife and I are conservatives. We like animals better than we like most people. I certainly like most any animal more than I like you. We currently have 3 cats, a mom and 2 babies (big now) that were abandoned. We will keep them and provide the best possible home for them for the rest of their lives, and when they die we will treat them with respect and mourn them like they were children. I‘m guessing this guy didn’t really love his cat, and I‘m also guessing he’s a liberal like you.

Don’t necessarily presume you know us, I would say. I post on here with some frequency, being prolife (and progay). And this article turned my stomach. If you are going to eat it, or wear it, then do so. But this feels like disrespect to an animal that the owner persuaded to care for him (making it a pet). The cat won’t know, but neither would a stillbirth. I can see it now “Babycopter”.
Some people are like Slinkys. Not good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs. (Or maybe I am presuming to know the “artist”.)

A significant but unappreciated factor in the increasing barbarism of this world is insensitivity. This is manifest in Bart Jansen’s use of his cat, which is especially surprising in an “artist,” an occupation normally requiring a great deal of sensitivity. Jansen’s total lack of sensivity suggests other character failings, such as lying. Was it really his cat? Was it really killed by a truck? Does his naming the cat “Orville” suggest that it was not a pet but rather obtained solely for the planned project? If so, did he kill the cat himself? What’s next on his list: aborted babies?

      Good observations.
I guess “art” truly IS in the eye of the beholder (it is much more likely roadkill, and I‘m betting you’re right it’s a stray; it’s clearly not an animal that was ever cared for).
