That is just another way of saying that they want to take the money from those who work and prosper and use it to buy votes from the deadbeat SOB’s. We need to end the income tax and use the “Fair Tax”… a national sales tax. No one would have to file and pay an income tax. No one would lose their house, car, business, bank account or go to jail.       When these monsters start paying more after April 15th then they can run their mouths at the rest of us. Ought to send her that Chuck Woolery video about paying more! I want to know how much of the money she earns she gets to keep vs the avg Joe/Jane! 35% my a**, and its not ridiculous to pay more if you think ppl should pay more.       45 cents to 49 cents on the dollar is what she is suggesting, do that folks get a dollar in change and pull that much out.. do this esp if you have liberals in your circle at your next get together! So I dare you to do this visual whether its with change or step it up into dollars example get $10 and pull $4.50-4.90 out, or do it with a $100 dollars ask a lib you want to do an experiment and bring $100 in cash, when they show up say “ok here is the experiment give me $45-49 out of your $100″. I guarantee you they will have a hard time just handing it over for your experiment.       People like this “person” are severely morally bankrupt. To take from the industrious and give it to the poor who won’t is morally repugnant.

      That would go against everything the liberals believe. Look at the charitable contributions of the Democratic elite. Be sure to take your magnifying glass, or maybe a microscope, or you will miss them. Look at the “charity” of Al Gore, Barney Frank and other Democrat wanna-be’s. They don’t give, they take from everyone and enrich themselves at the expense of We the People.

      Democrats don’t want to contribute to groups solving problems. They want to make everyone else “contribute” through taxes. But not to solve problems for those in need. They want everyone to “contribute” to their agenda items. And frequently, those agenda items harm our country, its economy and its People.

      If you depended on liberals to fund charitable organizations, our population would be much lower because of all the starvation. They don’t want to spend their own money, just take ours and claim credit for their generosity. Believe it or not, it is pretty easy to be generous with other peoples’ money. Kind of like being brave while watching news reports of our troops being shot.

      Many years ago I started believing that the only people who moved/stayed left were the people I remember from my youth on drugs. The ones who stayed left – stayed on drugs or did so much damage to their minds that there is no repairing them. The ones who moved left were the ones who started using.

      Help Reverse the Course of the United States:

      This is a Straight Forward, BOLD, OUT of the BOX solution to our Nation’s Fiscal Policy

      1) Shift 100% of tax collection from the Federal Government to State Governments, (as originally outlined in the Constitution and upheld by the Supreme court on multiple occasions before the 1900’s)

      2) Delegate more than 70% of the federal governments spending to state governments (e.g., Health and Human Services, Housing, Education, Energy, Agriculture, Labor, Social Security, entitlements, etc..)

      3) States would provide the federal government with enough money to cover the spending not delegated to the states (e.g., National Defense, Foreign Diplomacy, and other items originally outlined in the Constitution)

      4) Each state would be responsible for a percentage of the federal government’s spending

      We may not be able to agree why congressmen back in the early 1900’s decided on this form of taxation for the United States, but we can agree that it is going to be the down fall of our nation if we don’t act soon.

      This is not a solution that would occur with the passage of a single bill, but would take months or even years.

      Let’s put the “s” back at the end of the United States

    She pays at a 35% rate. So, why didn‘t she rush to the bank and liquidate ALL of her and her family’s assets and give that to the govt. She can live at a level that I decide is right for her. But similar to the older couple who decide once their children have grown many of the “me” generation assert, that too much is being spent on education and teachers are making too much money and vote against school tax levies. The current anti-everything from the “me” generation is not surprising.       How much money did YOU donate during calendar 2010? How about for this year, so far in 2011? You know, the charitable deduction line on your income tax return. Or just run through the numbers from your checkbook & cash donations.

      And when did YOU last volunteer? I’m just wondering. Even helping out an elderly or disabled neighbor or relative would count for something if you don’t formerly volunteer somewhere. If you don’t have children, are you part of Big Brother, or another similar organization where you can make a direct impact in the life of an underprivileged child? You know, the kind of kid you want ME to pay more taxes to help. What are YOU doing to help?

And I understand to some degree his angst in terms of some senior citizens…not all but certainly some….some seniors do squawk a good squawk about anyone touching their Social Security checks as if Social Security was sacrosanct even to the point of creating as it is doing if left in its current form….they squawk even though at this rate their own grandchildren will A. Never ever see a dime from Social Security and B. Some seniors feel as if being old is the only thing that got them to the point where they become recipients of it and it therefore it is a “right” or some sort of reward. Millions of seniors including my deceased father and very elderly step mother….millions of seniors have or will receive FAR more than they EVER paid in to the current Ponzi scheme that is Social Security. Having made that observation as a soon to be 57 year old man…I understand the “younger” generations angst regarding the squawkiness of some seniors regarding the mere mention of their so-called “benefits.“ But JROOK and I part ways quickly when he starts injecting a ”sense of community“ and ”citizenship” into the fray. The facts are that squawky seniors do know what “community” is and they certainly often are otherwise perfectly good citizens.       You should not get back more in taxes than you put in. If you put in $520 in taxes, you shouldn’t get back $3,000 because you have 10 kids. You should get back the $520 you put in. When you get back MORE than you put in, We who don’t get any back, or have to pay more, are paying you instead of services that we ought to be paying for.

      The tax reality in the state of Washington is this: If you own property, have a job, and pay taxes, you are paying just over 53% of your income. This is not just for rich folks…this is for all folks that meet the criteria mentioned above. I was raised in Memphis and knew some black folks that told us stories about their ancestry, from slavery through the civil rights movement. One of the stories that was told was about “sharecropping.” The concept was simple, families would work the land and the land owner would provide the “line of credit,“ in the form of something called ”the company store.” The company store would provide everything… tools, seed, food, clothing, stock, … But by the time the harvest was tallied, most sharecroppers failed to break even. The store got more money than the sharecroppers. Listen to the lyrics to the song “16 Tons,” preferably by Tennessee Ernie Ford. They go something like this: “You load 16 tons an’ what do you get?“ ”Another day older an’ deeper in debt.“ ”Saint Peter don‘t ya’ call me ’cause I can’t go…I owe my soul to the company store.” And so my question is, are we sharecropping or not?       The earned income credit is a joke. My grandson and his ex girlfriend have a child that he pays child support to. They both get earned income credit. He has a $12 an hour job in a resturant and she doesn’t work but draws welfare and food stamps. Last year she got over $3000 and he got $1400.
      Don’t know what he will get this year. She will probably get at least as much even though she has spent most of the year in prison for dealing drugs (penalty increased because her kids were in the house). She’ll be on probation in time to file.

      Because of the economic assumption of diminishing marginal utility. The first X thousand of dollars are worth more than the final X thousand of dollars that you make. Therefore, someone making only $30,000 values that money as a lifeline — a necessity for survival. Someone making $30 million values $30,000 as a luxury — something that is frankly unnecessary to themselves, their survival, and their wellbeing. Therefore, individuals making large sums of money should be taxed at a higher level. The marginal values of a good portion of their income is significantly lower, and they can stand to pay the higher taxes on it to help lift the burden of public services provided by the government. That’s the basic economic argument, take it or leave it.

      Your argument is so flawed where do I start. The person making $30,000 if taxed at 10% would pay $3,000. The person making $30 million would pay $3 million. The first person uses the roads and other public services as much or more than the second yet the second is paying a thousand times more for the same road. I would say maybe the guy making less should work at improving his financial situation instead of sitting in a bar after work and on the weekends. Maybe apply himself to get the college degree that the rich guy.

      Americans do not buy into the liberal/communist mindset of Karl Marx of “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need”.

      It used to be that people did keep most of their money. It used to be that people who kept most of their money put it in banks at a good (over 5%) interest rate. It used to be that people who kept most of their money were able to invest in research and development. It used to be that the people who kept most of their money gave a lot to charity. It used to be the gubmint stayed out of charity, research and development, banks and most of peoples money. The gubmint is an inept third party distributor, an unneeded middle man, which only understands inefficiency since that is the concept which they are created from. Get ‘em gone. TEA!

      Tax should be the same percentage for ALL !!! No more 70,000-page tax codes !!!
      Flat 15% federal sales tax on all retail and new items, and re-institute the Import tariffs !!!
      All the government ran on, was tariffs before the progressives brought their, monstrous, complex, bureaucratic nightmare called the tax-code and IRS !!!
      A very simplistic and fair system, is all that is needed to fund a LIMITED federal government.
      States can manage their own affairs !!!

      15% my a$$! If there is a federal sales/use/consumption tax, it should be no more than 7%. In order to implement that, you will need two amendments to the constitution – the first to nullify the income tax and the second to implement the new system. Furthermore, the percentage must be hard set in the amendment so that congress can’t change it on a whim like they are so wont to do with the income tax rate, and it must prohibit any other form of federal taxation or fee assessment – this would be the federal government’s ONLY source of income from the CITIZENS.

      Changing the taxation system would do so many positive things to our economy, our competitiveness, our motivation to succeed and our nation as a whole. And it would take the manipulative power away from the feds!
      If people would only wake up to the fact that the federal government has seized and continues to seize power not allowed it by the Constitution and it has enslaved its citizens and curtailed our freedoms at every turn, we would have a series of revolts at the ballot box!

      We had no income tax until early 1900′s and it was the brainchild of the progressives. This Country only operated on import tariffs.

      She said 35-49% is a reasonable percent for those who live well.
      What percentage of that, goes to the “entitled”?
