‘You Don’t Put Your Hands on a Lady’: High School Senior Speaks Out After Brawl With Male Teacher’s Aide Caught on Video

A video has surfaced of an incident in Rochester, NY, in which a high school‘s teacher’s aide got involved in a physical altercation with a 17-year old senior.

Rochester Police said Tyrell Green has been charged with harassment and was removed from the school the day the scuffle took place.

13WHAM obtained the video showing an adult arguing with senior, Allyson Henderson. They appear to flail their arms at each other, until the teacher’s aide can be seen shoving Henderson onto the lunch table. Eventually another staff member separated the two.

“He put his hands in my face first, then I took his hand out of my face,” said Allyson Henderson.  “That’s when he put his hands on me.”

Henderson said the altercation was likely provoked by disagreement two weeks prior in which she showed Green her middle finger in response to something he had said.

“I was so mad…like I just couldn’t believe it happened,” Henderson said.  “At first I didn’t think it was that traumatizing as it would be, but now I‘m scared because I’m worried about someone following me home,” she said.

13WHAM adds:

Henderson says the fight happened in the cafeteria on Wednesday. She walked up to the table where Green and another staff member were sitting. She was trying to sign up for the talent show, but she was told she couldn’t. Henderson says she walked away angrily, but overheard Green and the staff member make a comment about her.

That sparked the verbal argument which quickly escalated into a physical altercation.

“The staff member was immediately removed from the school and an investigation is underway,” Interim Superintendent Bolgen Vargas said in a statement. “We do not tolerate violence in our schools.”

Henderson said she also took an order of protection out against Green.

“I’m a lady.  I’m not a man.  You don’t put your hands on a lady,” Henderson said.

She said her neck and back were injured in the fight.

Charlotte High students were sent home with a letter from the principal, Michael Allen II, who said the school “takes your child’s safety seriously“ and that ”this incident is by no means indicative of the relationship myself and staff have with the students.”

It is a jungle and getting worse all the time. Teachers are just hanging on while the students run wild. This is no exception, typical, no discipline. I blame it primarily on the home setting, which is no doubt in this case non existent.

TheePolitinator Freedom of speech? How would you like your daughter tell you to eff off? Would you respect her freedom of speech? With freedom of speech comes accountability for it. If I called your wife a slut would you do nothing because you respect my freedom of speech? Do you understand that teens these days believe they have the right to do whatever they want to include physical assault? Many believe they can assault a teacher and not be touched by an adult because they are minors. This illustrates the immature and wrong perspectives they have regarding rights. I say they have limited rights until they turn the age of majority. You can say anything you want, but if it is extremely offensive, you should also fully expect a butt stompin’ and when you sue me, I will claim your comments put me in a state of temporary insanity that any reasonable and honorable man would react the same way.

The student baited the teacher into acting out and letting his anger/emotions to get the best of him. What he did was undoubtably wrong but what that student did is just as bad. She is not a victum but the instigator and should be punished accordingly. To make myself clear BOTH parties are at fault.

All of those given, the last time someone gave me the “bird” it was almost similar, except he had a two by four in his hand and I didn’t. Her giving the teachers aide the middle finger was inappropriate and not at all classy. Never-the-less it is protected speech.

Him physically attacking her is criminal and not protected by anything.

Further, attacking a woman? Really? Really? Is that the point we’ve gotten to these days? That teachers aides have so little self control that they flip out and assault students? If she was being disrespectful, there‘s a way to deal with it and this isn’t it.

I don’t care what she said or what obscene gestures she was making or had made in the past. That’s uncalled for. It was right to arrest him, firing him would be appropriate as would jail time.

    He should be ashamed.

Nope! Not protected speach. In a learning enviroment it’s insitful. Even if protected speach most districts have policies that allow for a student to be suspended for that. Can and should have been suspended. Before you go off on a free speach rant what should have happened if the faculty member caller her a Biotch or worse? Every one would call for his/her job. I know in the older days there was much woman abuse across the board so it’s no one group forever back, but very few STILL get away with it, along with a bunch of other stuff from where I’m standing….

I mean I couldn‘t even do that to a chick with a weapon barely I don’t think. I just wouldn‘t want to hurt her but some people obviously don’t make that distinction, and this guy wants to be a teacher!!! He’ll fit right in, that’s certain.

No she should not have flipped him off but on the other hand, he could have punished her for doing that by legimate means. The teachers should not have made mean comments about the girl knowing that not only she would hear them but her fellow classmates as well. By the way he pounced on her makes me kind of wonder if didn’t deserve the hand sign after all.

Of course we don’t know what he said to provoke the “finger”. If he and a collegue had something derogatory to say behind her back, perhaps that was why he got the gesture in the first place (or maybe a proposition). Her behavior was wrong two weeks prior, but he is the adult and should have acted like one. For Heaven’s sake, he is working in a “smart mouth” environment ; and it is Rochester, NY, home of rude, crude and union protected teachers who can make a mockery of a 13 year old, very intellegent girl. I’m sure the unions will be knocking on the door to protect this man no matter what he said or did.

Nowadays, kids try to strike it rich by goading an adult teacher into a fight and then they sue the school and hit the jackpot. That is what they are trying to do. Their parents teach them these tactics. The reason we are going down hill as a country is because of a lack of discipline in the schools. All the public schools do today is tell the kids how many rights they have and that they can do basically anything they want to do with total impunity.

Old or young, we can agree that that particular gesture is crude and uncalled for. But then it was only a gesture. Mr. Green is an adult who should act like one. That means not reacting to a gesture, no mater how crude it may be. There is simply no excuse for his violent behavior.

You’re no that old. There are no consequences anymore. There is no “fear” of authority anymore. I graduated in ‘89, and if anyone, male, female, black, or white, flipped a teacher off they got paddled. They would stop class, all class, and open every door. Then take you down to the “shop” hall and have the metal shop teacher swat you. This hall was a 100 yards long and the swat would echo down it so that every class heard it. You got to choose a paddle off of the wood shop teachers wall. They were made be students for use on students. If you picked the only small one, he picked the big one with 1″ holes drilled in it. It made a whistling sound then a “whuuuummmmppp”. Nice welts on your ass. They didn’t even tell the parents back then. It didn’t happen but twice a week. We had about 3,000 kids in our high school. In my opinion those are good stats. Probably a 98% graduation rate, and most that went to college or the military. Seems we need to go back.

Whereas violence against a MAN is totally justified. See, this is what people mean when they say “conservatism is patriarchal (a fancy word for ‘sexist against women’).” It’s the NOTION that women are somehow deserving of special protection above and beyond what someone would receive JUST FOR BEING AN INNOCENT HUMAN BEING that is so offensive to so many.

Yea…I love how “ladies” say that stuff, but they want to be treated equal and do the same things as men do in many cases. Also, how do women expect to be treated differently when they try to act the same as a man. I am all for repecting a lady, but ladies need to respect men as well. It is amazing to me, especially for some of the women I have known through the years, how women can get away with so much and the courts tend to lean towards the female because of gender and sympathy, yet in many cases the man is justified in his actions and is more caring and selfless than the woman. What if a woman is attacking a guy, is it bad to knock her off and stop her? Anyways, that’s my derailment from the real story.

I am a tomboy, as it’s called. I was an athlete, growing up, and always got along better with the guys. So I know what it’s like to always be seen as “one of the guys”. It‘s not all that it’s cracked up to be. But, for some reason, most women just don’t seem to see it. So many women, willingly chaining their rights to their reproductive organs..
Most of the teachers that I had, would never have allowed this type of situation to escalate to that point on their side. It would have been.. well, criminal, to act that way towards a student. Then again, when you take a look at the breakdown of structure in the home life, and the constant drum beat of “I am woman, hear me roar,” a lot of what I hold dear, just seems so painfully vacant from so many areas.
My husband treats me as his equal partner, while lovingly protecting and serving his family. That’s all that I could ever really ask for in life. I don’t expect respect from the world at large, that is something that I expect to have to earn. I will admit, that sometimes I’m not the most lady like of women, but I try to be respectful of others, and myself. I’m always pleased when a young man shows that his mother understands and has taught him some basic respect for others, by opening and holding a door for me.
I sometimes look around and wonder if women, other than myself, can see what we‘ve LOST through the women’s lib movement?

Unfortunately there are lots of cases in my small town where students are cursing, spitting at, or assaulting teachers and the teachers can’t do anything about it. The schools can’t discipline the students anymore for fear of “hurting their self esteem”. That is exactly why we have a ME generation.

White teacher, and both of the students were black? The kid who attacked the teacher was acting out in pack mentality based on race. There was an incident in Florida where in pack behavior a black team chased down a white referee who made a call they didn’t like or “touched” another black. Any white in a minority situation has got to be on full alert for pack attack or other ganging up. Whatever would be “normal” behavior for a white in a white crowd does not matter or count for anything, all of the thinking has got to be adjusted for the crowd you are dealing with. Blacks always think “us vs. them” with regard to whites. Wild considering all racism has been eliminated, right?

I think everyone is missing the point. Whether she was wrong or he was wrong, it shouldn’t happen in the schools. The fact that it does tells you the schools are out of control. Thirty years ago, she’d have been suspended for flipping him the bird, or expelled, and it would not have gotten to this point. I happen to think we need to go back to school attendance being a privilege and not a right. In that environment, you don‘t behave badly because you don’t want your future ruined, and everyone learns more. But this will continue until parents realize that the public schools are not a fit environment for their children, and start pulling them out en masse.

What is it with all these stories from Rochester lately? NY is just so messed up.
Obama is about to shut down the Niagara Falls air base also, why, because Democrats will vote for Obummer no matter what he does amd he knows that he already has NY locked up for votes because of NY city. If you are a swing state, you at least have some power, but New Yorkers have their heads so far up his but, they don‘t even realize they can’t breathe.

Yellowfin nails it. A “Lady” doesn’t give someone the middle finger and a “Man” doesn’t put his hands on a lady. If she was violent and he had to restrain her to protect himself, that’s one thing.

She was not being a lady.

Regardless of what the guy should or should not have done, it’s time young people understand respect is a two way street. You DO NOT disrespect someone, “Take their hand out of your face” and then expect them to remain calm and rational.

    Shame on both of them.

First I don’t really classify her as a lady. Because a lady doesn’t shoot the middle finger. She might have a disagreement with someone. But a lady just doesn’t do that. But I have to agree you don’t manhandle a woman.

She said she is a “lady”. Does a “lady” give the middle finger to a man?

Sister Allyson, Please go back and read modern history or listen to the song I AM WOMEN HEAR ME ROAR. Don’t you know there are no more LADIES. There are only females and males. As a sister (feminist, not invoking race here0 you can do anything a man can do. Femails can be cops, firemen, shoot, females also want to be combat troops. With those rights, traditionaly understood to be masculine, come responsibilities. So if your going to act like a horse’s patooty and get up in someones face, you should expect to be treated like a horse’s patoot. It’s sad this happen at school, but since schools have been hijacked by the left, there is no respect between adults and students. Atter all, why should students respect adults when Albertus, The Goracle, tell students, Listen kids, we all know there are things you and I know that your parents dont’ know”
I AM WOMEN HEAR ME ROAR, unless some mean man pushes me around or calls me a bad name, then I’m a lady

Gee, another display of primeval behavior by “students” in American public schools.

Gotten kind of routine since 1956.

I absolutly agree with the old adage of not putting your hands an a lady, but just like every other old adage or saying, there are times when it must be broken, however I don’t think this was one of those times, even though the “lady” displayed bad conduct as well as the man.

Yeah, god forbid she’s called that. Obama might swoop in by helicopter to save her…

We only have one side of the story. I’ll reserve judgment til we know more.
